00:00A dragon blood surging through her veins.
00:06With this, Ashina's long night comes to an end.
00:10Welcome to Mojo Plays, and today we're looking at 10 bosses that just don't know when to quit.
00:17Hitting you with a whopping 3 different phases.
00:20Big spoilers ahead, you've been warned.
00:22I thought if we defeated him, we could save the world.
00:28But I was wrong.
00:30The real problem was humanity itself.
00:34Before we begin, we publish new content all week long.
00:37So, be sure to subscribe and ring the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:42Simon, Claire Obscure, Expedition 33.
00:50Simon.
00:54You know him?
00:57He's an old friend of mine.
00:58As the final hidden boss in Expedition 33, Simon is an extreme test of your party's synergy and your endurance as a player.
01:06His fight unfolds across 3 gruelling phases, and has a move that can reduce your party's HP to 1.
01:12The first phase introduces relatively telegraphed but extremely hard-hitting attacks.
01:17In phase 2, he already turns things up as he starts to unleash longer, faster combos.
01:23And will quickly remove your party members from the canvas if you aren't careful.
01:27But the third phase is where things really get out of hand, as Simon pretty much goes crazy with his combo speed and length.
01:34His attacks hit hard enough to instantly kill you, so if you don't have second chance equipped, this fight is going to be near impossible.
01:40This fight is going to be near impossible.
01:47Akechi. Persona 5.
01:59Akechi. Persona 5.
02:01How wonderful.
02:03You don't allow yourself to be enslaved by such things as human relations or past selves.
02:09Goro Akechi's boss fight was built up from a pretty complex and lengthy narrative in Persona 5.
02:15In his first phase, he wields his persona, Robin Hood, using bless and physical damage attacks.
02:20But as his true nature is revealed, his second phase transforms him into Loki, now using tons of magic and physical resistance.
02:28As well as the hefty Megiddo lawn attack.
02:31As you get into his final phase, at around a third of his health, Akechi is pushed to his limits and disregards all previous patterns.
02:38Furthermore, he'll now use the Vaetane, which will decimate you if you're not ready to block it.
02:43So, either set up your ace for the third phase, or get ready to tank his burst damage.
02:55Shadows of Yharnam. Bloodborne.
03:04Remember this iconic hooded trio?
03:06They're essentially a master class in crowd control.
03:09It's not one boss with three phases.
03:11Instead, they'll power up one another each time you kill one.
03:14All three of them are different retrospectively.
03:16With one wielding a sword, one that breathes fire, and one that mostly throws ranged spells.
03:21As their health collectively drops, snakes will sprout from their bodies.
03:25And when two of them go down, the last one seems to at least somewhat gain similar powers to the other two.
03:31Along with, you know, more snakes.
03:34While you can play most of the fights slow and relaxed, the tempo gets vastly turned up in that last phase.
03:39Lady Unalesca, Final Fantasy X.
03:50Might I ask something first?
03:53Will Sin come back even should I use the final summoning to defeat it?
03:59Sin is eternal.
04:01Every Aeon that defeats it becomes Sin in its place.
04:05In a pivotal moment in Final Fantasy X's narrative, Lady Unalesca challenges Tidus and his companions to break the cycle of sacrifice.
04:14In her first form, she mainly uses offensive spells and counterattacks with status ailments like Blind and Silence.
04:21As you reach her second phase, it introduces Hellbiter, which inflicts the zombie status.
04:27Making healing spells like Kuraga deal damage to your now zombified party members instead of healing them.
04:33As you finally reach her third phase, she throws a mega death at your party, which will instantly kill any non-zombified character.
04:40So you've got to be smart about utilising the zombie status if you want to beat her.
04:55Skadu Tree Avatar, Elden Ring.
04:58From Software has this tendency to bump up the difficulty in their games to the extreme with their DLCs.
05:04And Shadow of the Earth Tree is no different.
05:07This colossal, sunflower-headed monstrosity is no ordinary Erg Tree Avatar.
05:11It starts out seemingly predictable, with big AoE attacks and sweeping strikes.
05:16But each time you kill it, it comes back, needing you to kill it three times total.
05:21And with each return, it changes up its moveset to be far more aggressive and with new combos.
05:27Gardening has never been so nightmarish.
05:37Sister Frieda, Dark Souls 3.
05:41Please, avert thine eyes.
05:50I will snub out these ashes for good.
05:53Sister Frieda's fight in the Ashes of Ariandel DLC is notoriously difficult.
06:00As you approach in an effort to take out Father Ariandel, Sister Frieda will attempt to stop you and fight you with her deadly Frost Scythe.
06:07She deals hefty damage and is actually pretty fast.
06:11Take her down, and Father Ariandel erupts into a rage.
06:14And now you have to fight both of them.
06:16Which is pretty damn difficult to navigate.
06:19Frieda continues with her Fast Scythe shenanigans.
06:22But now you also have to deal with Father Ariandel covering most of the arena with giant AoE attacks.
06:28Pass this phase, and you'll reach the true challenge of the fight.
06:32Black Flame Frieda.
06:34This fight is just her.
06:35But now she dual-wields her Frost Scythe together with a Black Flame Scythe.
06:39And goes berserk on us.
06:41Each hit is closing in on one-shot territory.
06:43She becomes ultra-fast and can even go invisible.
06:47It's things like these that make Sister Frieda one of the most infamous video game bosses.
07:00Varum.
07:01Prince of Persia.
07:02The Lost Crown.
07:03The Simorgh is no more.
07:06Its powers are mine.
07:08Mine alone.
07:10Varum attempts to stop us multiple times after portraying us in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown.
07:15But most people seem to have trouble with the first one on the bridge.
07:19It's a brutal wake-up call and skill check.
07:22In his first phase, Varum uses swift sword combos and basic teleportation.
07:26If you manage to wheel them down to phase 2, he immediately teleports behind and goes for a 3-hit combo.
07:32While also occasionally reversing time.
07:34If you live through his onslaught of shockwaves and combos into phase 3, he literally explodes.
07:39In this phase, he switches up his patterns, becomes lightning fast,
07:43and turns every other power he has up to 11.
07:46Shriek.
07:47Ori and the Will of the Wisps.
07:55The last boss of Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Shriek demands you keep precise and light on your feet if you want to avoid dying over and over.
08:02The first phase you should spend trying to learn Shriek's grounded attack patterns, which consists of various shockwave type slams,
08:09while also dealing with its spray shot projectiles that can be bashed back.
08:13In the second phase, you'll be thrown into a chase sequence through the crumbling environment, with Shriek pursuing you relentlessly.
08:19In the third and last phase, the intensity wraps up tenfold, with constant variances of projectiles and slams, forcing you to flawlessly dodge while Shriek also breaks the platforms you're standing on.
08:31The first Berserker, Kazan.
08:38Kazan, how you must have suffered to be here.
08:44Ozma, what happened to you?
08:48Ozma is the hardest boss you'll face throughout the entirety of the first Berserker, Kazan.
08:53He's a highly technical opponent to deal with, and it's going to be tough fighting him without first trying to understand some of his moveset.
09:00His first phase focuses on a variety of ranged magic javelins, but also attacking you with some pretty fast melee combos, so you've got to stay light on your feet.
09:09Upon draining his first health bar, he transforms and becomes way more aggressive with insane wing combos.
09:15And if you're not careful, he'll even parry you.
09:18If you don't pick revenge in the final mission, he'll lastly enter a third phase, now spamming purple death rays on you.
09:25It's an incredibly dynamic boss fight where you've got to be careful with your dodges and parries to avoid being killed in a single interaction.
09:40Isshin the Sword Saint. Shadows die twice.
09:45Which means Sekiro.
09:51I must destroy you.
09:53Considered by millions of gamers to be FromSoftware's hardest skill check, Isshin the Sword Saint is an extremely brutal gauntlet of sheer attrition and willpower.
10:02We've already got to beat Genichiro right before him, although at this point you've likely mastered the fight against him.
10:08Only for Isshin to bring the most brutal fight in the game when all your resources are already drained.
10:14He engages you in phase one with just his katana, and is already near impossible to fight.
10:19Yet brings a massive spear in his second phase in order to dual wield.
10:23This is also the phase that earned him the nickname, The Glock Saint.
10:27As he'll pull out an actual gun in your sword fight and one shot you if you miss any of the parries.
10:32If you somehow defy all odds and reach the final phase, he'll max out his aggression and employ lightning attacks alongside the most tough combos in the game.
10:41Expect your combat mastery and reflexes to be pushed to their utmost limits.
11:01Do you agree with our picks, or do you have some that you think should have been on the list instead?
11:05Tell us below and let's discuss.
11:11We'll see you next time.
