00:17a Siamese woman of mixed Japanese, Portuguese, and Bengali Indian ancestry.
00:22Using egg yolks and sugar, she crafted this golden treat symbolizing both prosperity and good fortune.
00:29Tong Yip shaped like a flower represents giving and receiving blessings,
00:34while Tong Yot shaped like little drops is a symbol of wealth raining down.
00:38Traditionally served at the royal ceremonies, celebrations, these desserts spread luck and happiness.
00:45And even today, they will remain as a beloved symbol of the Thai culture.
