00:00Did you know that Thai tea isn't naturally orange?
00:04The classic Thai tea, creamy, sweet, and bright orange,
00:07it's actually made with added food coloring.
00:10Originally, Thai tea was brewed from Ceylon Chi,
00:13which has a beige-brown hue.
00:15To make it more visually appealing,
00:17manufacturers began adding a synthetic dye
00:20called Sunset Yellow FCF.
00:23But here's the twist.
00:24This coloring has been banned in the UK
00:27and parts of Europe.
00:28A British study even suggests that 30% of ADHD cases
00:32might be preventable if synthetic dyes like Sunset Yellow
00:36were removed from foods.
00:37Though these dyes don't cause ADHD,
00:40they can worsen symptoms in both hyperactive
00:43and non-hyperactive kids.
00:45So the next time you take a sip of your favorite Thai tea,
00:49remember, it isn't supposed to be orange.
