00:00In Surat, the bodies of Pooja Patel, wife of the owner of Lums Factory, and her two-year-old son,

00:05Krishi Patel, were found under suspicious circumstances in their housing society on 3 September.

00:12Neighbours quickly gathered, shocked and unsure how the mother and child had died.

00:17Photos identify the woman as Pooja Patel and her little boy as Krishi, only two years old.

00:23Their deaths have raised many questions.

00:25CCTV footage from Martin Hill Society, Wing A, shows what happened shortly before.

00:30At 4.32pm, on 3 September, Pooja wearing a kurti and holding a white bag enters the lift with her son, who is in a yellow t-shirt.

00:41She quietly adjusts her sandals, presses the lift button and stands still, not speaking to the child.

00:47Krishi looks around and fidgets, as any toddler would.

00:50When the lift reaches the ground floor, Pooja calmly takes his hand and walks out toward the parking area.

00:54From there, Pooja and Krishi move from Wing A to Wing C, going up to the 13th floor where a woman tailor lived.

01:01CCTV shows her ringing the tailor's doorbell, but the tailor was not home.

01:05What happens next is unclear.

01:08Another camera in the society compound records the tragedy moments later.

01:11First, the little boy falls from above, followed 12 seconds later by Pooja herself.

01:15Their bodies land about 20 feet from where a Ganesh festival was underway, turning the festive atmosphere into grief within seconds.

01:22Questions immediately arose.

01:25How did the mother and child fall?

01:27Investigators learned Pooja had intended to give her blouse for stitching, but finding the tailor absent apparently went up to the terrace.

01:34Theories include, Pooja intentionally dropped her child and then jumped.

01:39The child accidentally fell and Pooja, shocked, leapt after him.

01:43Some other event or foul play occurred on the terrace that remains undiscovered.

01:47Police at Althand station registered an accidental death case while forensic and post-mortem examinations proceed.

01:53A blood-stained paper was recovered from the body and sent to FSL for analysis.

01:57Officers interviewed Pooja's in-laws and her parental family.

02:01No prior evidence of mental distress, marital dispute or outside threat has emerged.

02:06Her husband, Nilesh Kumar, who runs the Lums factory, was devastated, especially as the couple has another child.

02:13Authorities stress that no proof yet points to suicide or foul play, though both possibilities remain.

02:18A mother dying with her child is deeply tragic, an officer said.

02:22We are trying to determine if she acted deliberately, if it was an accident, or if there was another cause.
