Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A sensational case from 2022 outside the Indore Police Control Room involving a love affair, blackmail, and greed has finally concluded with the dismissal of ASI Ranjana Khande from service.
The case dates back to 2022 when TI Hakam Singh Pawar of Bhopal’s Shyamala Hills police station was having coffee with ASI Ranjana Khande at the Indore Control Room premises. A dispute erupted between the two, during which TI Pawar fired a shot at Ranjana with his service revolver. The first shot grazed her ear, causing her to faint. Believing she was dead, Pawar then shot himself, leading to a tragic scene.
Police initially thought a third party had attacked them, but the TI’s revolver was found nearby, and once Ranjana regained consciousness, the matter was handed over to a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
The SIT probe revealed shocking details: TI Pawar and ASI Khande were involved in a love affair, despite Pawar being married three times. Ranjana Khande was allegedly blackmailing Pawar, demanding money, a bungalow, and luxuries. She reportedly possessed pornographic videos of Pawar, which she used for extortion. The dispute escalated in Indore, culminating in the shooting incident.
A case of abetment to suicide (Section 306 IPC) was registered against TI Pawar, and the trial is currently pending. Meanwhile, a departmental inquiry against Ranjana Khande confirmed the allegations of misconduct. Initially, she faced a one-year pay freeze, but after review, authorities deemed the punishment insufficient for the severity of her actions. Consequently, ASI Ranjana Khande has now been dismissed from service.
The case remains a cautionary tale of personal misconduct within the police force and its tragic consequences.
