Visit Malaysia 2026 aims to promote the country as a leading global destination and to ensure sustainable growth, said Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing in his speech delivered by ministry deputy secretary-general Surrendren Sathasivam at the opening of the 57th MATTA Fair on Sept 6.
00:00In the first half of the year, Malaysia recorded 20.6 million international arrivals which was a 17.9% increase over the same period last year.
00:14Domestic tourism has also flourished with the first quarter of 2025 alone registering 69.7 million trips representing 18.9% year on year increase.
00:27Clearly, travel has become an integral part of our way of life whether in revisiting familiar destinations or discovering Malaysia's hidden gems.
00:38Yet, beyond these promising numbers, it is essential for tourism to contribute meaningfully towards protecting our environment,
00:47empowering local communities and offering authentic experiences that reflect the spirit of Malaysia Madani,
00:55a vision grounded in sustainability, inclusivity, respect and shared prosperity.
01:02Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen.
01:05Against this backdrop, Malaysia is preparing for a major milestone that is the Visit Malaysia 2026.
01:13This campaign is anchored on five strategic pillars.
01:17Firstly, sustainable tourism.
01:20Secondly, cultural and heritage experiences.
