00:00but also because I think the damage to that department has been the most wide scale of all
00:06the agencies. Certainly things like USAID have been devastated. I would prioritize the corruption
00:13that we have seen within the Justice Department itself. And maybe that's because I come out of the
00:18Justice Department, I have a certain reverence for that department, but also because I think
00:23the damage to that department has been the most wide scale of all the agencies. Certainly things
00:31like USAID have been devastated. But it will take years, if not decades, to restore the reputation
00:39of the department for independence and nonpartisanship and the rule of law. But that department continues
00:45to do great damage. So in the case of the slush fund for cop beaters, that's $1.776 billion of
00:56taxpayer
00:57money. That's a direct cost to taxpayers if that is allowed to go on. The president today was asked
01:03about it. He said, well, that'll be up to Todd Blanch. Well, I don't really have much confidence
01:10in Todd Blanch. I could see a scenario, for example, where instead of resurrecting that particular slush
01:17fund, they simply use other funds of the Justice Department to pay off people who attacked the
01:23Capitol on behalf of the president. Indeed, they've already started to use something called the Judgment
01:28Fund and the Federal Tort Claims Act to pay off some of the president's cronies and enablers,
01:34people like Mike Flynn, who you might remember as the erstwhile national security advisor for Trump and
01:40the first term, until it was discovered that he had lied to the FBI about contacts he'd had with
01:45the Russians and pled guilty twice to lying to the Russians when the administration intervened and
01:53basically dismissed a case in which the defendant had already pled guilty, which is quite extraordinary.
01:58But now the Trump administration, in its second iteration, has gone further and has paid off with
02:05your money, with taxpayer money, $1.25 million to Michael Flynn. So we're seeing those payoffs take
02:12place outside of the public view and outside of this particular slush fund. But I think investigating
02:18how they're abusing taxpayer dollars at the Justice Department, looking into this corrupt IRS-supposed
02:28settlement. Issues like that warrant thorough investigation by a Democratic House and I am
02:35increasingly optimistic a Democratic Senate. They tried to indict six of my colleagues over a video they made
02:45that stated the obvious law and constitutional fact that if you're in the military, you do not have to
02:52obey an illegal order, indeed you have a duty not to. The idea that they went before a grand jury
02:59and sought
02:59an indictment, I can't tell you how shocking that is as a prosecutor. The fact that they went before a
03:09grand
03:09jury and obtained an indictment of James Comey over seashells is so absurd and dangerous. I think there will be
03:20a new
03:21terminology in the Justice Department in the future or in any DA's office where someone suggests a case
03:27and the response is, that's a seashells case. Are you out of your mind? We don't do seashells cases here.
03:37So I think the presumption has now been flipped because of the terrible bad faith. I mean, you know when
03:44Janine Pirro is sounding like the voice of reason, that something is really, really wrong.
03:52But Blanche was asked about this, and this is another reason why he's so unfit for this job.
03:58He was asked whether it'd be appropriate for the president to fire Pirro
04:04Pirro because she dismissed a case that lacked evidence. There's a very easy answer to that
04:12question if you're any kind of a credible prosecutor, and you would say, no, you don't fire a prosecutor
04:19who does the right thing. I mean, maybe you fire her for bringing the case to begin with. I would
04:26fire
04:26her for that. I would fire her for not doing her homework and realizing there was no there there.
04:33That was a terrible travesty, and they put that Olympian to all the expense and anguish and turmoil
04:40of going through a prosecution. But we have seen the department so abuse its power, and now we have
04:49an attorney general who thinks it's not only the right of the president, but a duty of the president
04:54to go after his enemies. It's really beyond comprehension. And the result is we've seen
05:00thousands and thousands of talented career prosecutors just fleeing the Justice Department.
05:06And it terrifies me to think who's now filling those ranks, who is attracted to a department
