The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) expects the 57th National MATTA Fair to generate over RM250mil in sales, boosted by rising regional travel demand and the government’s push for Visit Malaysia 2026.

MATTA president Nigel Wong said the country’s largest consumer travel showcase was fully subscribed and expected to attract between 120,000 and 150,000 visitors over three days.

00:00For Malaysia's biggest travel fair, Mata Fair 2025.
00:05I am very pleased to share that Mata is running its 57th edition of the National Mata Fair here in Kuala Lumpur
00:15from the 5th to the 7th of September at MyTek.
00:19And once again, we are returning as the largest international travel fair in Malaysia.
00:25Now, we are equally proud to announce that the Malaysian Aviation Group, MAG,
00:31is the, once again, official airline partner and premier sponsor of the Mata Fair KL September 2025.
00:40Now, this Mata Fair is set to cover a span of 40,800 square feet with 2,040 booths,
00:48that's 2,040 booths, spread across 10 halls on level 3, on 3 levels, so I apologize.
00:56Level 1, which is domestic, and this year, the level 1 domestic hall is fully taken, fully occupied.
01:03And level 2 and 3, which will be international.
01:05And in response to the increased number of visitors, this time, we've expanded the Mata Fair footprint
01:12by opening Hall 5 on level 2, and we hope this will add more vibrancy and energy to the event.
01:19Sustainability is at the very heart of Mata's mission, and at this particular April Fair, September Fair,
01:25Oh, sorry, in April, we introduced the MESTI, or what we call the Mata Eco and Sustainable Tourism Initiative,
01:33to advocate and initiate a unified strategic approach to sustainable tourism.
01:39So this year, the arena of Malaysia Aviation Group will be completely different from what you've seen the years before.
01:46So if you're going to come to Mata, besides checking out the great deals,
01:51stop over to see the pavilion, because what we're going to showcase you to this year
01:56is what a vision of the national carrier of Malaysia will be in 2030.
02:01So there's a lot more of interactive, immersive experience.
02:05There's going to be AI-driven technology.
02:07There's going to be future forward products being shown in there as well.
02:10So it's a lot more interactive engagement that you'll see in the booth as well.
02:14Now, this September, we're raising the bar with, like I just said,
02:18the most dynamic Mata Fair presence yet for MAG.
02:22There will be interactive experience featuring Malaysia Airlines and Firefly extensive network
02:26and cabin products.
02:29There will be introduction of a first-of-his-kind and AI-powered travel showcase,
02:34giving you a glimpse into how technology can redefine the way we plan and book.
02:39There will be a special meet-and-greet session every year
02:42since the last three or four Mata we've introduced or we've brought in
02:47Malaysia Airlines and brought in Manchester United Legends.
02:51We've never let down those supporters.
02:53We have people coming in from far, from different, different countries,
02:56two Mata just to meet those legends and also buy packages.
03:00Now this year, and I'm going to tease you,
03:02those three legends that come in are not just any ordinary players.
03:06They are all in the era of when they won the best of all the leagues in the championship.
03:13They are among the top 11 players.
03:17They are the best of the best of the first squad way back then.
03:21So, I can't say more than that.
03:26So people will be able to see.
03:28So if you happen to come every Mata from previous now,
03:31very soon probably you'll get all the top 11 players all signed off.
03:36It's like almost a dream come true for a lot of people who love Manchester United or football as well.
03:40Now on top of that, there will be FAM engagement, JDT engagement and all that as well.
03:45There will be instant rewards for every booking and exciting redemption gifts across as well.
03:49With Malaysia sharing us and Asia,
03:51are there specific regional routes or tourism corridors that MEG hopes to strengthen through Mata Fair promotions?
03:59And for Nigel, if you can share some ideas for your sales target, thank you.
04:08Thanks, Hanis, right?
04:10Yeah, so traditionally Mata Fair year-on, fair-by-fair,
04:15we normally target around 250 million in sales.
04:18And so this fair is no different.
04:20However, that being said, we're a little bit more optimistic because with the push, right,
04:27by the government on the BM 2026 campaign,
04:31and also because there has been a lot of renewed interest,
04:34a stronger interest in intra-ASEAN travel,
04:36we are expecting purchases, right, to skew a lot more towards that end
04:41between ASEAN nations and also to see an increase in domestic travel spending.
04:47I mean, if you come to the Mata Fair now and the one coming up,
04:50we've got a lot of new products and attractions that are being offered.
04:54A lot of our principles or a lot of the exhibitors have come up with creative new packages and attractions.
05:01And so we believe that will actually encourage more spending,
05:05especially on a domestic level as well.
05:07thank you.
05:10Thank you, everyone.
05:12We're going to move on to continue.
05:13Welcome to thefires of Sumatra Bilingıp Statistics,
05:14Typically, there's a niche a lot to come up and see as a nice seat
05:27to the marketplace with speakers.
