00:00How do you see this game playing out?
00:02Because early on, I like the Hokies in this battle.
00:05Yeah, I'll be honest with you.
00:06I still like the Hokies in this battle.
00:08When we say Virginia Tech struggled in that game,
00:11they played a real good South Carolina team.
00:14And they were losing 10-8 in the fourth quarter.
00:18Then they gave up a punt return for a touchdown and then a bomb.
00:23Two plays and they're down by 14.
00:25And it was a 10-8 ball game against a team that we thought was a dark horse
00:29for the SEC championship game with a Heisman Trophy quarterback candidate.
00:35So Kyron Drones is a very good quarterback.
00:38I thought Virginia Tech looked very, very physical.
00:41And I don't think Vanderbilt's going to sneak up on anybody anymore.
00:45I really like their quarterback.
00:46I like their head coach.
00:47I like the newfound confidence they have.
00:50But I think they snuck up on a lot of people last year
00:53that did not think Vanderbilt could play with people.
00:56And, yes, they will be good.
00:57But I like the Virginia Tech team that got beat as a team that's made improvement.
01:04Of course, that coach's job was on the hot seat.
01:07I think they played a very, very good football game
01:10against a better South Carolina football team.
01:12I'm in agreement with you.
01:14And I think when we talked about Virginia Tech in the offseason,
01:17they were 6-7 overall.
01:18They had lost seven games by an average margin of defeat of seven points or less.
01:23To your point, they went toe-to-toe with a big physical offense
01:26and defensive line in South Carolina.
01:29Basically contained Lenora Sellers in that rushing attack
01:32to only 119 yards on the ground.
01:35Turnovers did hurt.
01:36Kyron Drones in the passing attack.
01:38He completed 15 of 35 passes, 221 yards.
01:42No touchdowns, but two critical interceptions.
01:45And they were able to move the football,
01:47especially in the second half of that matchup,
01:50just could not convert inside red zone opportunities.
01:53So I'm with you.
01:54I don't know if we get over the 47-and-a-half, Coach,
01:57but because of Diego Pavia and Kyron Drones,
02:01I mean, we could see fireworks where this game does play out
02:04potentially in the 50s.
02:06They got over the total last year,
02:08but I still lean to Virginia Tech in that ballgame.
02:11I don't know if we get over the 48-and-a-half.
