Yorkshire Evening Post chief football writer Graham Smyth and co-host Chris O'Connor discuss Leeds United's transfer window, a deflating deadline day, Harry Wilson, Josh Brownhill and what now for Daniel Farke and his team.
Transcript
00:00They acknowledge that it was deflating, that they didn't get the last bit.
00:04There's a little bit of, well, what could we do about Chelsea coming in for Buonanotte?
00:10I mean, in isolation, I'm not seeking to defend anybody here,
00:15but why on earth has Buonanotte gone to Chelsea?
00:17I mean, he's already just a day or so in,
00:22his kind of, oh, at least he'll be able to play in the Champions League stuff
00:26has been shown to be complete nonsense.
00:28They haven't included him in the squad.
00:30He's not going to get minutes.
00:32They signed Garnaccio.
00:33They've got loads of attackers there, and it's only a loan.
00:37It doesn't make sense from anyone's point of view, this one, to me.
00:41And it doesn't let Leeds United off the hook at all for what's going on at the minute.
00:48But in isolation, you just think somebody needed to get in his ear and say,
00:53hang on, just hang on a minute.
00:55I know you might not want to be in another relegation battle,
00:57but you're going to play a lot of football.
00:59You'll still be a Brighton player.
01:01It's not even like he's gone, you know, and there's extra wages or something.
01:04He's alone.
01:06He'll still be getting his Brighton wage.
01:09The only thing that jumped into my head was, A, he probably really backs himself.
01:14You know, maybe he thinks I can go there and show the manager that I can play number 10
01:18and perhaps says the palmer injury might be worse than we're being led to believe.
01:23But that's me putting an absolute spin on it, which I guess we can get to in terms of how the club have talked about the window.
01:32But yeah, I just think if you're advising him, go to Ellen Road and play, and you are still a Brighton player, like you say.
01:38There's no way he'll be playing more minutes at Chelsea than he would have at Leeds.
01:42And he'll be a star man.
01:43He has a profile that we are missing, whereas Chelsea have, I don't know, 10 profiles that do that
01:49and probably another 40 out on loan at the moment.
