Transcript
00:00Senator Tupperville. Thank you, Senator Corner. Thank you for having this press conference. Much needed. Been here five years, never seen anything like this. I grew up in smaller towns, but it all goes back to one thing. Leadership. Leadership of a mayor, leadership of a city council. They should be embarrassed.
00:20Ever since I've been up here, we've had mental illness, drugs, homeless all over the streets. I walk or jog every day, and I carry a well-known 9-iron with me, a golf club. And I've had to pull it out several times when almost accosted by people on the streets, in neighborhoods. It's just absolutely embarrassing.
00:44Washington, D.C. is the capital of the free world. And my God, it's the only place I've ever seen trees growing out of the sidewalk. I mean, there's no pride here. There's no pride from the people, the leadership that run this city until President Trump came in.
01:01Nobody cuts the grass. Outside my house, which is 100 yards from the capital, I've watched weeds grow and wondered, how long is it going to take for them to cut these weeds? They cut it two and a half weeks ago for the first time in five years. It was almost six feet tall.
01:18The people around here evidently spend their money on something else. They obviously don't spend it on the beautification of the number one city in this country in terms of freedom around the world in this country. It's absolutely amazing to me.
01:34The murder rate here is worse than Bogota, Colombia. I want you to think about that. Washington, D.C., the face of our country. It's embarrassing. Absolutely embarrassing.
01:49Again, I've been here five years, and I've never, I've had to step over homeless, have had to ask police, you know, to help in certain areas. Hey, there's something going on down here.
02:00I think we've woken up. And again, thank God for President Trump. We've had MS-13 gang members in the last few weeks that have been arrested. Now, I was in coaching for a long time, and I've been around and warned kids all my life of drugs. Up here, drugs are very easy to come by. Very easy to come by.
02:26I don't know whether politicians are making money off these drugs, but something needs to stop. Again, thank goodness for President Trump. The Calvary's coming. And President Trump, I was in a press conference with him yesterday, and he said he's going to Chicago.
02:41The people of this country deserve help. And here's the way I look at it. You can have the greatest family in the world. You can have a great education. You have money in the bank. You can love your kids.
02:54But if you don't have safe streets and neighborhoods, you have nothing. You have nothing. And the Democrats should be ashamed of themselves because you watch TV and they push it every day.
03:06You push it every day. Stand up for something. Liberals, please stand up for something. Stand up for the right and the rule of law. Thank you.
