00:00Sir, with President Zelensky.
00:02Thank you, Mr. President.
00:03Mary Margaret with Daily Wire.
00:04Two questions on D.C., if that's okay.
00:06How do you feel about Mayor Bowser's level of cooperation
00:09and her choosing to advocate for D.C.'s statehood right now?
00:12Well, let me do that one for you.
00:15Statehood is ridiculous.
00:17We want to straighten the place out.
00:19Statehood is ridiculous.
00:21It's unacceptable.
00:23The Democrats want it because the Democrats have,
00:26you know, about 95 percent in this little area.
00:29Even I, I didn't get it very much.
00:32They want that.
00:33They want to pick up two senators and it's not going to happen.
00:36It's not going to happen.
00:37And that's the least of the reasons why, by the way.
00:39But that's one of the reasons why.
00:41What we want to do is make Washington, D.C.,
00:45the greatest, most beautiful, safest capital anywhere in the world.
00:48And that's going to happen.
00:50I mentioned the word bones before.
00:51The bones here, the bones.
00:52We have the greatest bones.
00:53When you look at that Supreme Court building,
00:55I think it's one of the most beautiful buildings.
00:58When you look at some of the buildings here, it's so magnificent.
01:01And everything's good.
01:03But it's just dirty and not properly maintained.
01:06It's not taken care of.
01:07Potholes in the roads.
01:09All of it's going to happen very quickly.
01:10We're going to seek a relatively small amount of money for fix-up.
01:14And we're going to put it out to bid.
01:17And we have great contractors here, great road builders.
01:20And we're not ripping roads apart so they're closed for four years as they redo the concrete bases.
01:25And you don't need that.
01:27We need a beautiful topping by a very talented asphalt-type person, somebody that does the job.
01:35We go out.
01:36You know, when I get contractors, I use great contractors.
01:39To me, contractors are great contractors are very special, like a great surgeon, like a great teacher, like a great nurse.
01:48A great contractor is very important.
01:50We'll only use the best.
01:51And when you put a coat of asphalt on that, two inches of asphalt, three inches of asphalt, it looks brand new.
01:58You take all the garbage off.
02:00They reseed it, as we call it, or different names.
02:04But they take the bad stuff off and they put the good stuff down.
02:08It takes not a long period of time.
02:10A matter of a few days, you'll have a beautiful, magnificent road.
02:15You fix up the curbs.
02:17You get rid of the medians in this town are just horrible.
02:20You know, you're writing on it.
02:21I think to myself, leaders come from foreign countries.
02:24You see, with leaders all the time.
02:26They're friendly.
02:27They came in from India recently and from everywhere.
02:30They came in from a war that we just ended, Azerbaijan, and you know that, and Armenia.
02:39We just ended the war.
02:40The two leaders came in.
02:41One of them said, my country looks better.
02:44The roads are better than, you know, we were talking about it.
02:47I said, what do you think?
02:48He said, well, the roads are better in Armenia than they are in Washington, D.C.
02:54It's embarrassing.
02:55And I was asked at the last press conference, they said to me, how important is it?
03:01You're doing world peace.
03:03We're going to Friday, on Friday to Alaska, meeting with President Putin, Russia.
03:08How important is it that the capital is important?
03:10I said, very, very important.
03:11I told my father, said to me, when you see a restaurant and you want to go and you want
03:17to have dinner and then you go up to the front door and it's dirty, turn around and go back
03:23because the kitchen's dirty.
03:24It's the same thing with the capital of the United States of America.
03:28If it's dirty and unsafe, it sets a bad tone for the rest of the world.
03:32So we're not going to do that.
03:33We're going to have this capital fixed up, safe, clean, and beautiful in a very short period of time.
03:38Go ahead, please.
03:39In the back.
03:40Yeah, please.
03:41In the back.
03:42Yeah.
