00:00I'm curious your understanding on why they decided to move on from Peppers when they did.
00:05Well, they didn't give a really defined reason, and Mike dismissed the notion that it was scheme-related from the podium yesterday,
00:12but certainly he's probably not one of their best 53 players.
00:17He's probably one of the best 12 players on the football team as a football player.
00:21So if you don't want him there, that must mean that he has a physical limitation to doing what you're trying to ask him to do,
00:28which, to me, that feels like a scheme fit.
00:31So he's a bigger safety.
00:33He does come downhill.
00:35He's a violent hitter.
00:36If they want their safeties to be more in space, that's not really his game anymore.
00:41I shouldn't say anymore.
00:42He probably could do it.
00:43I mean, he was their best player in 2022 and 2023, in my opinion, on either side of the ball.
00:51So he could probably still do it.
00:52But I think the fact that they want people who are faster than Jabril is and also the fact that he's probably not going to deal well with being a backup
01:05would probably be reasons that the Patriots would say, you know, he's a proud guy.
01:10He's still a good player.
01:12Let's give him an opportunity to get out there and play someplace else.
01:14Yeah, because my sort of key conspiracy on this whole thing was we were so focused on Kyle Duggar, Kyle Duggar.
01:20He's going to get cut.
01:21He's going to get traded, whatever, and then makes the team.
01:24Then they get rid of Peppers.
01:25I feel like both guys probably received the same news that, hey, we're going to go with Hawkins and Woodson primarily at safety.
01:32Duggar probably said, OK, and, you know, I'll still show up and I'll still do my job, whereas Peppers perhaps reacted to it differently.
01:39I don't know that to be the case, but I would say, too, if you're looking at both of these guys and you're paying $9 million in salary to Kyle Duggar
01:48and $4 million to Jabril Peppers, that's $13 million of guys standing there clapping with their helmets off.
01:56You know, there should be a cost-saving measure there if you're not going to use them.
02:02So I probably should have mentioned that, and Phil Perry mentioned that yesterday.
02:05It's a good point.
02:06OK, so you're not going to be able to save the $9 million with Duggar.
02:10Does that still mean to just keep both of them sitting there for $13 million?
