00:03on play-calling responsibilities?

00:05I think it's a hammer lock.

00:21who's installing everything and saying,

00:23yeah, he's not good at that.

00:25So I would think that it's, again,

00:31there's no conversation about that,

00:34that Van Pelt will continue to be the guy.

00:37We talked about gathering data,

00:41and we had to gather data on Brissett and where he was.

00:44He's now plateaued or declining.

00:48And there's fewer times he could excuse

00:50what's going on in the field

00:52because of a lack of protection.

00:53Same thing with Van Pelt.

00:55You know, the people who panned him when he was hired,

00:58I was reluctant to do that

00:59because I think it's incumbent upon us

01:03to let it play out a little bit if we're covering the team.

01:05Fans can do what they want.

01:06You guys can do what you want.

01:08I think if I'm supposed to give a reasoned opinion,

01:10I got to watch a few games.

01:12And I think now, as I wrote in my column,

01:15you have a guy who's got his hands at 10 and 2

01:18driving through a rock slide

01:19going 30 miles an hour in the left lane.

01:21You got to hit the gas, buddy.

01:23Disaster is coming at you.

01:27Well, and that's my point on Van Pelt.

01:29He might very well be the play caller all season long

01:32because there's not a lot of great alternatives.

01:34But we all sort of give him the excuse

01:38that the talent isn't great.

01:40Like, nobody's looking at it and being like,

01:41oh, you should be the greatest show on turf.

01:43But at the same time,

01:44shouldn't it be more than 12 points per game?

01:46Shouldn't there be fewer three and outs?

01:49Like, I think even with this talent,

01:51you got to find a way to get more out of it.

01:53That doesn't seem unfair.

01:54No, it doesn't seem unfair.

01:57But I do think you do have to give it time to see,

01:59okay, he's trying this.

02:01And that's why the notion of,

02:03look, we shouldn't be the ones coming up with the idea

02:18before it goes to DeMario Douglas?

02:20So, he needs to be more, I believe,

02:25in my lay person's opinion,

02:29quick to react and less reactive to what's going on.

02:35Okay, well, still not working.

02:37I know, we all know it's not working.

02:39Do something else.
