00:00Breaking news, according to Adam Schefter, the Patriots are releasing veteran safety, Jabril Peppers.

00:09I was not prepared to read that today.

00:13Schefter says, again, as you said, Keith, Pat's releasing Peppers per source.

00:18He still has $4.32 million guaranteed remaining on his contract.

00:23Then he gets into his numbers, blah, blah, blah.

00:25I was never the biggest Jabril Peppers guy.

00:29Well, and he was playing ahead of Kyle Duggar.

00:31It seemed like he was way ahead of Duggar.

00:33We thought Duggar was going to get cut.

00:34Duggar made the team, and now Peppers gets cut two days later.

00:38So it's weird.

01:18to eat money on the contract to your guy to now he's the guy or or is it Jalen Hawkins

01:27These are now just your safeties or that seems weird or and I think it's at least fair to

01:32wonder with this guy.

01:33Did something happen with Peppers away from the field?

01:36That's he's no stranger to that.

01:38It's just it's enough out of left field and odd enough where I think any of those options

01:42are on the table.

01:42That's this is a weird one that I did not see coming.

01:45I thought he was pretty secure, not just on the roster, but as a starter.

01:49I thought we went over when they went down to the initial 53 man roster.

01:53Are they keeping the 53 best players, right?

01:56Maybe that's why you start out with the eight receivers.

01:58Are we going to tweak this a little bit?

02:00We're going to figure out who can make the practice squad who can't but Peppers is one

02:03of the 53 best players just like Duggar like if you're talking about just keeping the most

02:09talent possible because one of the big knocks on the Patriots is they have no depth.

02:12So as soon as anybody goes down in any position, you're like, oh, yeah, I shouldn't be playing

02:15to your point flies in the face of what we're just talking about.

02:17We thought they were keeping all the best 53.
