Rangers transfer deadline day reaction as big money splash raises intriguing Ibrox questions

00:00You have to say a pretty good deadline day for Rangers.

00:02They've brought in, they've made a real statement signing with the money they've spent to bring in Yusuf Cermetti from Everton,

00:08a player with deemed his huge potential.

00:12I'm wondering on him whether we see him as someone who's going to go straight into the starting XI at Ibrox,

00:19given how much money they've spent on him,

00:22or whether Bojan Miofsky, who's a proven goalscorer at this level, is going to be seen as the first-choice striker they are.

00:28Or whether Russell Martin is in fact going to try and find a way, given the options he has at Winger as well,

00:36and obviously in James Tavernier's quality of delivery at right-back,

00:39whether he's going to find a way to try and play both in his starting XI.

00:43What do we think, Lewis?

00:46I think there might be an option to try and shoehorn both players into the starting XI.

00:50I could see Martin potentially tinkering with his formation and maybe going to something like a 4-2-3-1 even.

00:57I know Cermity can play in that kind of pocket as well.

01:03I could see him striking up a fairly good partnership with Bojan Miofsky,

01:08who I personally think, it's difficult to say obviously because they've invested a lot of money in Cermity,

01:14who hasn't played a lot of games for Everton,

01:18but obviously a solid upbringing coming through the Sporting Lisbon Academy.

01:23I mean, I still think Bojan Miofsky will be the first-choice striker going forward.

01:30But yeah, as you say, I think there's potential.

01:34You do worry though there might potentially be a lack of options there.

01:39He does have obviously Danilo still to call on.

01:42So whether or not we see a slight change in formation,

01:45obviously he's brought in Derek Cornelius as well.

01:48Another centre-back on loan,

01:51which I think Rangers fans will be slightly concerned that there's only one defender

01:55that's actually contracted beyond the end of this season.

02:00I think that'll be a slight cause for concern.

02:02But Cornelius, he's got 35 caps for Canada.

02:05under his belt, was part of the recent Copa America squad last year.

02:10So again, another player of decent pedigree on paper.

02:15Time will tell, of course, how he fares at Ibrox.

02:19But yeah, I think on the whole it's been a fairly positive window for Rangers,

02:24albeit I don't think supporters have been overly enamoured

02:28with what they've seen from some of the new signings so far,

02:31it'd be fair to say.

02:32But time will tell, they have managed to get rid of a lot of Deadwood.

02:38Obviously, probably not ideal at losing Igaman and Dessers in this window.

02:46Obviously, the Igaman deal on the back of what happened against him

02:50in a few weeks ago, it was inevitable that he had to go.

02:53But in my opinion, Serial Dessers are a real divisive figure

02:57amongst the Rangers support.

02:59probably didn't quite deserve the flack, in my opinion,

03:03that he got 152 goals, 17 assists and 116 appearances.

03:08In my view, it's a relatively decent return.

03:10I know that figure could obviously have been a lot better.

03:14So losing him, I think, is a slight disappointment.

03:19But time will tell if we see a kind of partnership forming

03:25between Majofsky and Chirmiti or whether or not Martin decides

03:28to still stick with that kind of one main central striker.

03:31So interesting.
