00:12:16that at the start

00:12:17game much better

00:12:18than Celtic did

00:12:19but Celtic on their

00:12:20back foot a little bit

00:12:20with playing longer

00:12:21passes because

00:12:22I know Russell

00:12:23talked about not

00:12:23changing the system

00:12:24but I thought

00:12:24they were a little

00:12:25bit more direct

00:12:26especially early

00:12:27in the game

00:12:27so about the first

00:12:27ten minutes

00:12:28they put Celtic

00:12:29under the cosh

00:12:29but Celtic

00:12:30substitutes late

00:12:31in the game

00:12:31I thought then

00:12:32Celtic grabbed a

00:12:33little bit of the

00:12:34but as I said

00:12:44season it's really

00:12:44been clicking and

00:12:45firing but I thought

00:12:47off the ball today

00:12:47they were certainly

00:12:48a lot better I

00:12:49think in the 11

00:12:50games of Russell

00:12:51Martin's tenure

00:12:51that's been the

00:12:52quietest that Jack

00:12:52Butlin's been and it

00:12:54looked to me as if it

00:12:55was two teams that

00:12:55knew the consequence

00:12:56of a defeat today

00:12:57obviously Rangers after

00:12:58a disappointing start

00:12:59to the season and

00:13:01Celtic after a

00:13:02disappointing performance

00:13:03and result against

00:13:03Kyrie O'Malley at the

00:13:04weekend during the week

00:13:05sorry and it coincided

00:13:06with a poor game

00:13:07today.

00:13:08It certainly did.

00:13:10From Rangers point

00:13:11of view you felt as

00:13:12though they pressed the

00:13:13game better today

00:13:14that was one of the

00:13:15positives I suppose

00:13:15for you?

00:13:16Yeah well listen it's a

00:13:17message that Russell

00:13:18Martin's been talking

00:13:20about basically since

00:13:21the first game of the

00:13:22season that he wants

00:13:22his team to be a lot

00:13:23more aggressive after

00:13:24the club bruise game

00:13:25during the week he

00:13:26talked about the

00:13:27harmony to run for

00:13:28each other to fight

00:13:29for each other and to

00:13:29be fair I thought that

00:13:30was on show today you

00:13:31can see that Mioski at

00:13:33all times was trying to

00:13:34split the pitch

00:13:34forced Celtic down one

00:13:36half of the field and

00:13:36you could see Rangers

00:13:37were man for man

00:13:38Asgard was following

00:13:39Callum McGregor about

00:13:39the full game and

00:13:41Rangers were really

00:13:42latched on to any

00:13:43straight passes and I've

00:13:44got to say I thought

00:13:45the first half especially

00:13:46I thought they'd done

00:13:46that really well you

00:13:48know we're looking at

00:13:48two or three different

00:13:49instances where they

00:13:49know they do force

00:13:51Celtic to one half

00:13:52they're pitching four

00:13:53straight passes and

00:13:54they're really on the

00:13:55front foot they're

00:13:56really proactive to

00:13:57try and turn the ball

00:13:57over and force Celtic

00:13:59into errors but you

00:14:00must say when Rangers

00:14:01did force the turn

00:14:02over I don't think

00:14:03they had enough

00:14:04quality

00:14:04The quality on the

00:14:05ball when they won

00:14:05the ball back wasn't

00:14:07good enough was it

00:14:07from either team really

00:14:08No definitely not but

00:14:09listen like I says I

00:14:11think Rangers are

00:14:12clearly still a work in

00:14:13progress and I think

00:14:14it's been off the

00:14:15ball on the ball set

00:14:16pieces like I said I

00:14:17don't really think

00:14:17there's been a real

00:14:18facet of their game

00:14:19that's firing yet but I

00:14:21do think that's a bit

00:14:22of a blueprint today

00:14:23that's certainly been a

00:14:24bit of improvement in

00:14:24terms of off the ball

00:14:25Yeah I mean he's

00:14:26spoken about needing to

00:14:27see improvement clearly

00:14:28performances and

00:14:30results haven't been

00:14:30good enough does this

00:14:32give him a wee jolt

00:14:33something to be looked

00:14:35positively about at the

00:14:37game or I mean it

00:14:38still I suppose isn't a

00:14:39win it's still finished

00:14:400-0

00:14:40It did it still finished

00:14:420-0 but again it's so

00:14:43difficult to then

00:14:44translate this game into

00:14:45other domestic games

00:14:46because no other teams

00:14:47in this league aren't

00:14:48going to have the amount

00:14:48of possession that

00:14:49Celtic have got

00:14:49they're not going to

00:14:50try and build for the

00:14:51back as much as Celtic

00:14:52do so I think they have

00:14:53to be adaptable and try

00:14:54and find different plans

00:14:55in different games

00:14:56today I thought they

00:14:57got their game plan

00:14:58really spot on off the

00:14:59ball but again not

00:15:00forcing anywhere near

00:15:02enough quality or

00:15:03chances going the other

00:15:04way

00:15:04Peter Celtic a wee bit

00:15:06toothless to say the

00:15:06least today in attack

00:15:08why was that?

00:15:10We've said I'm not

00:15:12100% made as a striker

00:15:14I think he likes to

00:15:15run onto the game all

00:15:15the time and there's a

00:15:17lot of times that you

00:15:18can't see part of his

00:15:19game but you watch

00:15:20here this is Celtic at

00:15:21their best when they're

00:15:22playing forward

00:15:22for me Tony Rawlsson's

00:15:23got to run further up

00:15:24the pitch and Carter

00:15:25Vickers has got to step

00:15:26into that space and

00:15:27receive possession because

00:15:28then it makes it

00:15:28difficult for Moore

00:15:29and you can see the

00:15:30frustration in Callum

00:15:31here you know but I

00:15:32think that Anthony

00:15:33Rawlsson should be

00:15:33further up the pitch

00:15:34here they're in a good

00:15:35position here goes into

00:15:36Mieda doesn't know

00:15:38whether to hold it

00:15:38turn but look at the

00:15:39situation he's got

00:15:40himself in if he does

00:15:41that naturally but he

00:15:42gives the ball away

00:15:42and it happened too

00:15:43many times and Rangers

00:15:45were wide open at that

00:15:46space and they got a

00:15:46little bit of fortune

00:15:48summed up the Celtic

00:15:50attacking play here

00:15:58game actually said

00:15:59they were going to be

00:15:59a bit passive so for

00:16:00me Hatati was going to

00:16:01play the ball around

00:16:02the corner starts in

00:16:03attack all of a sudden

00:16:04you've got it in a good

00:16:05position here we're all

00:16:06coming all the way back

00:16:07just playing Hatati

00:16:08and then there's an

00:16:09attack and you can go

00:16:10at the opposition

00:16:11here again could go

00:16:13out wide get turned

00:16:14there were so many

00:16:15backwards passes today

00:16:16absolutely and it was

00:16:17too slow because it

00:16:17allowed Rangers to do

00:16:18what Andy's talking

00:16:19about get into

00:16:20position so they could

00:16:21go and get press and

00:16:22Celtic don't usually

00:16:23usually once Celtic

00:16:25can buy it this is

00:16:25Mieda for me at its

00:16:26best for me Carter

00:16:28Ricker's kind of just

00:16:28left the ball in there

00:16:29now it's too late so

00:16:31what Mieda's got to do

00:16:32is make a different

00:16:33movement he doesn't

00:16:33he stands still the

00:16:49post well he's defended

00:16:50it well but I still

00:16:51think he's got to show

00:16:52that aggression to get

00:16:53in there and try and

00:16:53score a goal

00:16:54I think as well Peter

00:16:55when you're looking at

00:16:55these clips not only are

00:16:57players turning down the

00:16:58forward pass it's the

00:17:00tempo that the ball's

00:17:01moving at I mean this

00:17:02has been a fixture that

00:17:03we've watched for so

00:17:04long it's all blood and

00:17:05guts it's all fast paced

00:17:06I just felt for the

00:17:07first whistle today it

00:17:09was all really passive

00:17:10it was all really slow

00:17:11and I don't really think

00:17:13that either team really

00:17:14looked as if they

00:17:15wanted to go and grab

00:17:15the game by the scuff

00:17:16in the net and go and

00:17:17win it

00:17:17I thought it was a

00:17:18Rangers team if you

00:17:19make them nervous early

00:17:20in the game and I

00:17:21thought that was from

00:17:22Celtic slow play in the

00:17:23respect to that not

00:17:24making their runs not

00:17:24making their forward

00:17:25passes and I think

00:17:26Rangers tried to do that

00:17:27at the start of the

00:17:28game for the first 10

00:17:28minutes I say they've done

00:17:29that I'd have liked to

00:17:30seen Celtic do that

00:17:31use me at this pace

00:17:33put the frontiers on

00:17:34because you know

00:17:34they're panicking about

00:17:35him especially when he's

00:17:36running that way

00:17:36they're quite happy if

00:17:38he's going back towards

00:17:38his own goal and that'll

00:17:40be the disappointing

00:17:40thing I'm sure for

00:17:41Brendan

00:17:41I'm disappointed we didn't win

00:17:47because I felt we were good

00:17:50for large parts but I'm

00:17:51really proud of the

00:17:52players level of fight

00:17:53aggression desire to

00:17:56compete to defend all

00:17:57stuff that we were

00:17:59questioning on outside

00:18:00and inside the building

00:18:01we questioned each other

00:18:01on in midweek so that

00:18:04was a big focus today

00:18:05to really actually fight

00:18:06and show some

00:18:06togetherness and spirit

00:18:07and aggression in the

00:18:09team and there was so

00:18:09much of that and then

00:18:10we couldn't quite find

00:18:11the composure at times

00:18:13we needed in the final

00:18:13third to really create

00:18:14and make something

00:18:15happen I've said to the

00:18:16players we need to be

00:18:16accountable to each other

00:18:18now that that is shown

00:18:19no matter who we play

00:18:20against and I'm really

00:18:22pleased with them and

00:18:22that's not easy after

00:18:23the week we've had and

00:18:24the opponent we're

00:18:25playing so I enjoyed

00:18:27that mentality of the

00:18:28group today and now it

00:18:29gives us something to

00:18:30build on we need to be

00:18:31a bit better with the

00:18:31ball than we were today

00:18:32I'm convinced we will be

00:18:34and that will come but

00:18:35as long as we give that

00:18:36level of togetherness

00:18:37and spirit it gives us

00:18:38a chance to then really

00:18:39build on that the club

00:18:41has been affected by so

00:18:42much change all the

00:18:43time so whenever there's

00:18:44a level of scrutiny or

00:18:46noise there's very often

00:18:48been a change that then

00:18:49hasn't really resulted in

00:18:51too much change maybe

00:18:52short-term but not too

00:18:53much impact long-term and

00:18:54now we have an ownership

00:18:54group and a senior

00:18:56leadership team that

00:18:57understand the need for

00:18:59and also the need that

00:19:01some things when you're

00:19:02changing something the

00:19:04day-to-day stuff that

00:19:05that some of it will

00:19:06take time and there

00:19:07might be a bit of

00:19:07resistance that at some

00:19:08point but today the

00:19:09lads showed that they

00:19:10want to do it they're so

00:19:12desperate to get there

00:19:12the conversations we

00:19:14have with them so they

00:19:16need to show that level

00:19:16of togetherness all the

00:19:17time and keep we need to

00:19:19keep moving forward and

00:19:19keep trying to grow and

00:19:22the chairman and the

00:19:23owners being here and of

00:19:24what he said to the

00:19:25group yesterday is really

00:19:26helpful for them to hear

00:19:27that obviously things are

00:19:28subject to change but

00:19:29Cyril's probably played

00:19:30his last game for us he's

00:19:33close to we've agreed

00:19:34something with another

00:19:35club so we'll see how

00:19:37that goes in the next

00:19:3824 hours and then we

00:19:39hoping to have definitely

00:19:41a couple in and then

00:19:42maybe we'll see what

00:19:42happens after that if

00:19:43there is one more or

00:19:44two more depending on

00:19:45if anyone else goes

00:19:46here but we're ready

00:19:47for it we plan for it

00:19:48we need to get tomorrow

00:19:50night and be really

00:19:51happy with what we've

00:19:52got and I'm convinced

00:19:52we will be especially

00:19:53with the players we

00:19:54already have in the

00:19:55building and the squad

00:19:56today they were

00:19:56fantastic and then

00:19:59outside of that we'll

00:19:59see and then everyone

00:20:00can take a breath have

00:20:01a little bit of a reset

00:20:02like I said and really

00:20:04get to work and make

00:20:05sure we start hunting

00:20:06the teams above us

00:20:06and as I said we're

00:20:08six points off the

00:20:09top of the league we

00:20:09need to start hunting

00:20:10that and start winning

00:20:11football matches in our

00:20:12way.

00:20:13The thoughts of Russell

00:20:16does that result

00:20:17performance do to ease

00:20:19the pressure that he's

00:20:20under because he's

00:20:20under massive pressure

00:20:21obviously fans still at

00:20:23the game today

00:20:23boeing him certain

00:20:25sections of the support

00:20:26he's been having a

00:20:27very tough time of it

00:20:28results haven't been

00:20:29good enough but does

00:20:30this ease it in any

00:20:31way?

00:20:31I don't think it does

00:20:33to be honest with you

00:20:33I mean it's still full

00:20:34league games without a

00:20:35win again I think of

00:20:38course they're looking

00:20:38for that first elusive

00:20:39win in the league

00:20:40campaign but I think

00:20:41the Rangers fans have

00:20:42been looking for that

00:20:43sign of improvement

00:20:43something that they

00:20:44can grasp on and say

00:20:45that that's the

00:20:45blueprint moving

00:20:46forward I've

00:20:47referenced I do think

00:20:48they were a lot

00:20:49better off the ball

00:20:49we've spoke at length

00:20:51over the European and

00:20:52the previous domestic

00:20:53fixtures that they've

00:20:54looked really fragile

00:20:55defensively I thought

00:20:57there was a vast

00:20:57improvement to that but

00:20:58again there has to be

00:21:00so much more impetus

00:21:01going forward and

00:21:02you know he just

00:21:03referenced there that

00:21:04he's really looking

00:21:05forward to the

00:21:05transfer window to shut

00:21:06well you mentioned

00:21:07Dessels as a way I

00:21:08mean he splits a

00:21:09pin in Dessels but you

00:21:10can't knock his goal

00:21:12contribution over the

00:21:12last two seasons

00:21:13well for me he's still

00:21:14the best striker at the

00:21:14football club so if

00:21:15you're losing the best
