00:28This is a production of the U.S. Department of State.
01:02It's not been a good night for the men from Edinburgh.
01:10Good evening. This Premiership title race keeps twisting and turning.
01:14What on earth would happen today?
01:16Scott Allen and Peter Lovincranz with us to help guide us on our way.
01:21The top and bottom of the table in sharp focus as Rangers came calling at St Moran.
01:25A share of the points the last time these sides met in Paisley back in August.
01:33Oh, and a Yungas clear throw and goal here. Can he keep his composure?
01:37Yes, he can!
01:40Stingman in the front.
01:42Good drop for Asgard. Still got the ball.
01:44Oh, it's off the line.
01:46Drops down for Curtis.
01:48Rangers rescued.
01:50Gogich at the front post.
01:51Oh, brilliant save, Portland.
01:53They may have saved the point, but for many in that away stand, it will not be good enough.
02:02Massive game at the Smythes Stadium for both sides, both in need of the three points for very different reasons.
02:09Rangers looking to keep the pressure on at the top.
02:12St Mirren looking to move away from the bottom.
02:14They make four changes, three of them enforced as Fraser, Bacchus and John are all injured.
02:19Young drops to the bench.
02:21King, Donnelly, Tanzer and Devaney come in.
02:24Rangers make three changes from the Scottish Cup.
02:26Penalties defeat as Tavernier, Chukwani and Gassama return.
02:30Sterling, Diamonde and Scott Olsen are the players to drop out.
02:35The conditions in Paisley are absolutely dreadful for playing football.
02:41So blustery.
02:43Let's see what the players can make of it.
02:45Romans, you can see the wind catching that, but Raskan controls well.
02:50I don't think Shiri Gassama can even blame the conditions for that finish, though.
02:58Romans cross.
02:59Well controlled by Raskan.
03:01He lays it into the path of Gassama.
03:04And the least said about that, finish the better.
03:07Presumably trying to fire it in towards the far post there with the outside of the boot.
03:18Rangers unbeaten in 12 in the league.
03:21Too many draws lately have cost them.
03:24There's Gassama going for goal, but blocked by Freckleton at the expense of a corner.
03:30Rangers have definitely started the game the better of the two sides.
03:39Roman sends it straight in, headed towards goal by Raskan.
03:43There's a claim there for a handball before Shemal George is forced into the save.
03:49Stephen McLean certainly not interested in those claims.
03:53Here's another look at it.
03:54It does come off the hand of Alex Gogic and it's a little bit out from his body.
04:00In comes the St. Mirren corner.
04:02It's Cermiti that wins it first.
04:04Breaks to Devani who then catches Cermiti.
04:08Niko Raskan not happy about that challenge from Devani.
04:15It will just be a free kick.
04:18Miss kicking initially and then mistiming the challenge.
04:26Craig McLeish elevated to taking charge of the St. Mirren first team in the absence now of Steven Robinson.
04:34As the search for a new manager begins.
04:40That's a really bad looking head clash.
04:43It's Alex Gogic and Jadon Richardson.
04:45And it's Richardson who looks to have come off worse of the two.
04:51Gogic's head is absolutely streaming with blood, as you can see there.
04:56But Richardson still prone on the ground.
05:00Takes that one right in the cheekbone, I think.
05:04And he won't be able to play any further part in the game.
05:08On comes Alan Campbell.
05:09It's going to require a reshuffle from St. Mirren.
05:14Danny Rule's side are paid the price for not putting teams away this season when they've been on top.
05:23Tavernier angles it forwards.
05:25Donnelly's header picked up by Gisama.
05:28Out to Raskan.
05:32To the left foot.
05:33It's a good ball.
05:34There's Romans in the back post.
05:36To turn it home.
05:37A first goal in Rangers colours for the Belgian defender.
05:42It's a very timely one.
05:44It could yet be a very precious one.
05:49It's a wonderful ball, this from Raskan.
05:52And Romans just drifts off King at the back post.
05:56He's well on side.
05:57Oh, King just leaves it.
05:58And Shamal George asks his defender,
06:02why on earth did you not go and try and deal with that?
06:05And Romans, the grateful recipient at the back post.
06:09And Rangers in front.
06:17It's a good defensive header from Donnelly.
06:20Romans picks up.
06:21Tavernier still over on that left-hand side.
06:24Sends it back in.
06:27Giga out to Chukwani.
06:32Up against Lundalu,
06:35who recovers to send it behind for another corner.
06:42These set-pieces have posed a few problems.
06:46The swirling wind.
06:48Romans takes this one short.
06:52Gets it back again.
06:53Different angle.
06:54It's a good ball.
06:55Chermiti's there.
06:57Well, he's claiming it should be a corner.
06:59It really should be a goal.
07:02It's a glorious opportunity.
07:05Does Lundalu get the last touch there,
07:06rather than Chermiti?
07:08Not sure.
07:09Looks like the striker gets there first.
07:15Free kick then for Rangers to be taken by Tavernier.
07:19It's Sraska, and it meets it.
07:22That didn't look too far wide.
07:25So often gets on the end of these set-pieces,
07:28there's the diminutive Belgian.
07:30But just couldn't get the accuracy right.
07:36They do feel that Rangers need a second goal
07:39to just put a little bit more of a cushion
07:44on the scoreline.
07:47It's Mikey Moore trying to wriggle free.
07:49It's Tavernier who'll try and curl one.
07:51Good save, Shamal George.
07:54To keep Rangers at bay.
07:58It's a good effort from the captain,
08:01just trying to curl that one.
08:02It was definitely goal-bound
08:04before George gets the left hand to it.
08:08Good save.
08:17Butland clips that one forward.
08:20Still Rangers not home and dry.
08:22As Tello Asghar picks up.
08:26Now it's Barron.
08:27Out to Moore.
08:29To run at O'Hara.
08:31And he gets the shot off.
08:33Dealt with reasonably well by Shamal George.
08:36Tricky one to take.
08:38Probably not quite enough venom or accuracy
08:41in the shot from Moore.
08:45Mijowski was waiting on it.
08:47Donnelly not giving away.
08:50Oh, Sko Olsen's done Barron a favour.
08:52He slips it through for Moore.
08:54Chance here for Rangers to finish the game.
08:57Well, just a heavy touch from Mikey Moore.
09:00I think the flag has gone up anyway.
09:07That's tight though.
09:09It's a big chance for Mikey Moore.
09:11You'll feel he should have done a lot better.
09:13Shamal George again doing his job well.
09:20It's a good take from Young.
09:22He's just dragged it wide.
09:26Well, it's more or less St. Mirren's best chance in the game.
09:31It's a really good first touch.
09:33Maybe just took himself a little bit wide.
09:39Raskan into Asghar.
09:43Raskan will latch on to that.
09:46And now it's Mijowski.
09:47Mikey Moore into the path of Asghar.
09:50And that'll be that.
09:51Oh, the offside flag's up.
09:53To deny him.
09:55I'm not sure if that's the right call.
09:58It's extremely tight.
10:01Well, is it this initial pass from Mijowski to Moore?
10:05No, he's well onside.
10:06So it must be here.
10:09Oh, it's marginal.
10:11But he's maybe just ahead of the ball.
10:15To Loosgar.
10:19The Norwegian international knows it's close.
10:23But there is verification.
10:27One final chance perhaps here for St. Mirren to earn themselves a point.
10:32Rangers trying to get it clear.
10:34Now they do.
10:35Danny Roll urging them forward here.
10:41Desperate for the three points.
10:43And they've got them.
10:45It's a narrow but potentially huge victory for Rangers.
10:50As they put themselves to within three points of the summits to Romans.
10:55With the only goal of the game.
10:58It was hard fought.
10:59It wasn't pretty in difficult conditions.
11:03But Rangers have got the job done for St. Mirren.
11:06The relegation battle will continue.
11:09A lot of work for them to survive yet.
11:12To finish in St. Mirren now.
11:13Rangers won.
11:14It was a challenging game.
11:16I thought we equipped ourselves well.
11:18I asked the boys all week to try and be brave and to trust each other.
11:23I thought we tried to play.
11:25Tried to play in the right areas.
11:26We probably just lacked a little bit in the final third.
11:29We got into good areas but then lacked a little bit of quality.
11:32To create any real clear-cut opportunities.
11:34But I can't ask any more from the boys in terms of their effort today.
11:38Their running, their energy, their intensity.
11:42They've been great for me all week.
11:43It was just disappointing.
11:45We probably couldn't get something for the game.
11:46We tried to make the game as difficult as possible for Rangers.
11:50But I'm delighted with how our boys did individually and collectively as a group.
11:54It's a tough place to come.
11:56Not easy.
11:57But we did well.
11:59We were organized.
12:02We used our chances.
12:04But at the end we could score more.
12:06Then we have an easier life.
12:08But I said this.
12:09If you have a clean sheet and we are rootless in our situation, we can win games.
12:13Big performance from our side.
12:15In a tough place.
12:16Good effort.
12:17Good fight.
12:18Today was not about winning nice.
12:20It's about the result.
12:21I think in the last three games we had a great performance but not the result.
12:26And today I take this really and we move forward.
12:28Eight cup finals to go and I think this is the next message.
12:33Rangers grind it out in a cold and wintry Paisley.
12:37So much focus on the title race.
12:39Peter Lovinkranz, did that Rangers performance and victory today fill you with belief that they will go on to win
12:47the title?
12:49I wouldn't say they gave me belief to go on to win the title, Jonathan.
12:51I think it was one of the games where you just had to go and get the three points.
12:55It wasn't pretty.
12:57It wasn't a game where everything came together and they played good football and it was a fantastic game to
13:01watch.
13:01Not at all.
13:02It was basically a job done.
13:04It was go and get a result.
13:06Clean sheet on top of that as well.
13:07And take the three points and take it home to Ibrokes.
13:09It certainly wasn't a free-flowing match to watch at all, Scott.
13:14And the moments of quality were few and far between.
13:16Obviously difficult conditions.
13:18But Rangers would get the breakthrough in the 31st minute.
13:22Just how good a goal was?
13:24Is Nico Raskin obviously the creator?
13:26Listen, there's no question that they were on the windy conditions that contribute to overall the quality of the game.
13:32But this was one of the moments from a Rangers perspective where they actually got it right.
13:35You're seeing obviously Roman's in a high position.
13:38Raskin on his right foot, you think he's going to swing in, cuts in.
13:40It's not, I don't think it's meant, I think he's just helping into an area where someone can go and
13:44attack.
13:44And Roman's doing a good full-back, does gambles in at that back post and obviously finishes with a lovely
13:50cushion finish.
13:51Obviously Jadon Richardson had gone off after that head knock that had seen Alex Gogich get staples in that gushing
13:57wound.
13:57Didn't look very pretty.
13:59Gogich, of course, stayed on.
14:00Did that reshuffle Alan Campbell obviously coming on?
14:03Did that play a factor from a St Mirren point of view?
14:05Not for me in terms of defending the goal.
14:07I think they've still got their back three in place.
14:08Richard King, ultimately, in the moments where you have to defend, he just doesn't switch on.
14:13He's not aware of Roman's coming in behind him.
14:15I mean, he says Raskin's coming on his left foot about to swing that and he's got to attach himself
14:18to the dangerous man.
14:20He doesn't.
14:21And it's in that area, listen, it is a decent ball in from Raskin.
14:23But defensively, a really poor goal to lose from a St Mirren point of view.
14:26Yeah, it certainly was.
14:28We've been talking about this.
14:29This divides opinion between the two of you.
14:31Rangers would have the ball in the back of the net again.
14:34And Peter, people think of you as a winger, but you consider yourself a striker.
14:39And in this situation, you were urging Mikey Moore to shoot, weren't you?
14:44Yeah, 100%.
14:45In my first inning, when you see him from this angle, you just have to open your body up and
14:49put it in the far corner.
14:53And the timing the game is as well.
14:54It's too close to the game out.
14:55And he's had actually an OK game at that point.
14:58Mikey Moore, he's one of the ones who creates stuff for Rangers.
15:00And when the ball comes across, he's got acres of time.
15:02I mean, he has so much time to sort himself out.
15:06So, I know Scott would probably want to pass this ball, but for me, as a forward, you have to
15:10hit that shot.
15:11I think from my point of view, I think if the ball is a wee bit shorter in the through
15:15ball from Raskan, I think it is.
15:16I think you can then adjust and come round with your right foot.
15:19I think once you're in that position, Mikey Moore on his left foot.
15:21As a creative player, I think, if it's Peter Lovinkranz on the other side of me and I don't pass
15:26him on the shoot and I miss,
15:27you're screaming at me for not sliding that across.
15:29Listen, it's millimetres that he's offside from.
15:32I can see both points, but I think I'd probably slide that across.
15:34I think the problem you have is Asgard actually makes his mind up because he's in your eye line.
15:38You think it's just a simple ball across and a tap in, but it was a well-worked move from
15:42Rangers.
15:42The whole nation is gripped by this race for the title, obviously.
15:46Celtic getting the victory against Motherwell yesterday and Hearts obviously stumbling at Rugby Park yesterday.
15:53Rangers winning today.
15:54First of you, Scott, look at the fixtures there for until the split.
16:00Which side do you feel will be on top of the table come the split?
16:06Looking at the fixtures, I think the two home games for Rangers are games that they'll think are winnable.
16:11Celtic's one is Dundee United and Dundee away.
16:14They're tricky ties.
16:15Dundee United away from home early in the season had a good result, albeit under Wilfred Nancy.
16:20Celtic are now building momentum.
16:21Dundee away has been a tricky game for them previously in the season as well, and they do have some
16:26players who can really hurt you.
16:27Hearts, Dundee at home, I would fancy Hearts as strong favourites.
16:31I just think that Livingston away game could be quite tricky.
16:34So I know you want me to give you an answer just now, but I genuinely think we are going
16:37week to week.
16:38I think there are still going to be teams who slip up.
16:40Two home matches coming up for Rangers, Peter.
16:44Does that give them an advantage, do you feel, in terms of this run-in to the split?
16:48I think definitely for the next two games.
16:50I think the next two games favourites Rangers.
16:52With all due respect to the other teams, I think Celtic's got the harder ones with the two away games.
16:56Up in Dundee for me, and I think Livingston away for Hearts is also a tricky one.
17:00The Aster Tuff and all the rest, it's not an easy place to go.
17:03So it does favour Rangers, but of course, Hearts is already points ahead.
17:07So it could be like a joint top goal difference, all these type of things.
17:10It's exciting though, we want to see that.
17:11It's amazing.
17:13But I do think going into the last game of the season, it could be even closer than it is
17:16now.
17:17I understand, it is an impossible question to answer, but it's hugely entertaining for all of us.
17:22From a St Murren point of view, obviously first match without Stephen Robbins and Scott.
17:26We've only gone six matches without a victory since they beat Hearts at home.
17:31Five of those have been defeats.
17:33Today, did they look to you like a side short of self-belief?
17:39Yeah, I think it kind of summed up St Murren's season, where the defending spells, one of the biggest,
17:44you see, listen, they're working as a team, they're getting back in, they're doing the work,
17:46as Craig McLeish said in his interview and what he was expecting, but the numbers to go forward
17:50and really go and create, they just looked to me as if they lacked a bit of belief, imagination,
17:54kind of some very good areas on the part where they turned that chance down to make Rangers defend.
17:59I think this one here as well, you see it.
18:01That's just got to go into your striker.
18:03He can take it with his left foot and you're out the other side, but it's rushed.
18:06I mean, at the bottom of the league, and listen, they're in a relegation battle.
18:08There's no getting away from it.
18:09The decisions start to go against you and you start second-guessing yourself.
18:12I think you can see that, but the threat for me, that's an interesting one as well.
18:17You could probably shape it down the line.
18:18Mark O'Hara takes the guy away.
18:20Lindoulou's got to get across and show for the ball.
18:22He doesn't.
18:23And that just summed up their day for me.
18:25Here, put the ball in, make Rangers defend.
18:27We've seen Raskin do it earlier in the game, but he puts it into an area, not necessarily
18:30trying to pick someone out.
18:31He doesn't.
18:32It's a sloppy ball into the box and he gives the ball away.
18:35And that was, Peter, we spoke about it the whole day, didn't we?
18:37They just lacked that real belief.
18:38Mark O'Hara here.
18:39I'll never know why he doesn't slide that down the side for his striker.
18:43And in the windy conditions to go for a flighty ball, and that's decision-making where you're
18:47at the bottom of the league.
18:47You start second-guessing yourself, and we've seen that in their performances just now.
18:50Indeed.
18:52Peter, where do St. Martin go from here?
18:54Because they are now level on points with Kilmarnock.
18:5724 points, both of them.
18:59Kilmarnock still currently second bottom of the table in terms of goal difference.
19:03But we look at the St. Martin fixtures coming up.
19:05And, I mean, again, from our point of view, hugely entertaining.
19:09In terms of the intrigue, but hugely worrying, you'd have to say, from a St. Martin fan's
19:13point of view.
19:14Can you think of any candidates that they should get in?
19:17It's one of those ones where there's nobody really leaping out to replace Stephen Robinson,
19:20it feels.
19:21Jonathan, I literally cannot give you an answer for that, because I do not know who is available
19:26for that role, who would suit that role right now.
19:29That's nobody springs to mind.
19:30And that's a problem in itself.
19:32There's nobody out there you think he'll be a good candidate for that job right now.
19:35So I think they're a wee bit in a tough position.
19:37But with the fixtures they have left as well, I worry for them a wee bit.
19:40And the confidence they showed, that Scott just went through there, you can see this
19:44lack of confidence.
19:45Two of the games is away, Falkirk-Celtic away, you don't expect them to get anything
19:48there.
19:48In Aberdeen at home, that's the only one that can get something from the three games,
19:52in my opinion.
19:52So it's looking really, really tough for them at the moment.
19:55Yeah, I mean, what's it look like for you, Scott, from a St. Martin point of view?
19:59Because obviously Kalman are getting a hugely morale-boosting victory last night against
20:02Hearts.
20:03Yeah, I just, I think if I'm comparing both sides, I think Kalman definitely looks as if
20:07they're gathering more momentum.
20:08They look more as if they've got a better build, trying to create and get their better
20:11players on the ball.
20:12They're definitely looking as if they've got a better creative spark than St. Martin do
20:16it this morning.
20:16I think they've only got eight goals at home this season, which is a sign of how their
20:19seasons went.
20:20And the fact they have been conceding goals throughout the course of the season.
20:24A team who we kind of resonate with, building by foundations and defending really well,
20:29when you're at the bottom of the league, it just adds to the nervousness, especially
20:32later on in the game.
20:33So I do feel they're really in amongst it.
20:36What type of manager could come in at this stage of the season, turn that round, that
20:39will be for obviously the St Mirren board tonight.
20:40But I'm with Peter, there's no candidates really springing to mind for me at this moment
20:44in time.
20:45Scott, do you know anything as well with the Kilmarnock winning against Hearts, the belief
20:49they'll get now, the confidence they'll get now to go and kick on them in the fixtures
20:52that St Mirren has, you know, ahead of them compared to what Kilmarnock will be at release.
20:56St Mirren's not won a game in, what, six games?
20:58Yeah.
20:59And, you know, they've had more confidence in Kilmarnock.
21:02I think, listen, we've got a chance here to get ourselves out of this.
21:05Yeah, I think Kilmarnock at this moment in time do favourites, obviously, to go above
21:09St Mirren.
21:10You look at the fixtures that they do have, you can't really see a win coming from anybody.
21:14Yes, the Aberdeen one at home potentially, but that then comes with different with
21:17Steven Robinson coming up against his old side, they won't want to lose that game.
21:21But for me, Kilmarnock are going in the right direction.
21:23Tough times in Paisley, certainly.
21:25Next up, the Dundee Derby, which never, ever fails to deliver.
21:29Honours even in the two games between the sides so far this season.
21:40There is the opening goal.
21:43And it's one for the United France to serve her at Dems.
21:48Goal check.
21:51And that should set the way to Dundee.
21:53All the way to Dundee victory.
22:02He could make the most of this.
22:05It's actually he.
22:06Can he open his scoring?
22:07He can!
22:08And delirium in the visiting end.
22:13A Derby in the Dundee sunshine with bragging rights on the line.
22:18There is still an outside chance of United making the top six.
22:22A loss today would rule that out.
22:25No surprise to see Dundee boss Steven Presley sticking with the same starting 11 that beat Motherwell 2-1.
22:31Defender Billy Cometeo is fit enough for a place on the bench.
22:35Dundee United midfielder Amar Fata and centre-half Yuri Yovu return from suspension.
22:40While there's a starting place for new signing Neil Ferugia.
22:43Out goes Sapsward, Kamara and Trapanovsky.
22:50And there's a minute's applause here before kick-off to remember Gordon Wallace,
22:54a man who played for both clubs in this city, who passed away recently.
23:05As usual, it's been a frenetic start here.
23:09Neither side have really settled.
23:13It's become a bit of a midfield battle.
23:16I'm not sure Jim Goodwin and Steven Presley are going to be involved in it.
23:23All thrown from Ferry, not really dealt with.
23:26Amar Fata, oh, he's kept that alive.
23:27It comes back into the middle.
23:29And it's cleared away by Joel Cottrell.
23:35And Fata just taking that off the toes of the defender and leaving John McCracken stranded.
23:42It comes to the back post, Graham.
23:44Tries to get something on it.
23:47It's back out to Fata.
23:51Turned away from Murray.
23:52And clips it back into the middle.
23:54There's the header from Yovu.
23:55And he has to score.
24:00That is a huge opportunity for the Dundee United defender.
24:05Fata battling for the ball.
24:08Lifting it in.
24:09And Yovu nods over from just a few yards out.
24:22The ball comes in towards Simon Murray.
24:24He's made an absolute mess of that.
24:28And then it's going to be a free kick to Dundee.
24:30They might get another chance here.
24:34Simon Murray would have been desperate to score in this fixture.
24:36The boyhood Dundee fan captaining his club.
24:40He completely fluffed his line.
24:46Downed up.
24:47Hit two.
24:48Tony O'Gann.
24:54Just takes the ball away.
24:56And then clips in.
24:57And the header from Lucas Stevenson.
24:58Goes the right side of the post for the Dundee United defence.
25:04Dundee starting to come into this.
25:07corner comes in.
25:08It's headed away at the front post.
25:13Dre Wright.
25:14It's about the cross.
25:16Plenty of bodies still in there for Dundee.
25:19There's a player down at the front post there.
25:22Murray goes down.
25:24But it's play on.
25:28Now we're just having a little look here.
25:30There's a VAR intervention from Andrew Dallas.
25:34Sure.
25:35What the infringement is.
25:36Might be a potential handball against Vicko Chevelle.
25:41But play goes on.
25:45Stevenson has gone forward well here.
25:49He gets the ball in as well.
25:52Dundee.
25:53Touches the touch and clears, but not very far.
26:00The ball pokes through.
26:03And there's the shot from Ferugia.
26:05He's just straight down the throat of John McCracken, though.
26:10Need to pick out either of the corners.
26:15He controls and finds Congreve.
26:22He works it well.
26:24Still going now.
26:26That's an awkward one for Maynard Brewer.
26:28And he's somehow clogged that off the line.
26:32And he's somehow clogged that off the line.
26:33United managed to scramble it clear.
26:36End to end in this first half.
26:40Dundee coming again.
26:42Maynard Brewer out this time.
26:47There's Congreve's awkward cross that took the deflection.
26:52And I think it's a combination of Maynard Brewer and Uri Yeovu
26:56back on the line to head and claw this one away.
27:07Fata.
27:10Still going.
27:11That's a lovely turn from Ammar Fata.
27:13Good save, John McCracken.
27:15Could Fata have picked out a man in the middle instead?
27:20He went himself.
27:23Rolling hard, but McCracken saves with his knees.
27:27We remain goalless at Denz.
27:35I don't know if Jim Goodwin got written on that pad.
27:39Does it have the secret to how United go in front?
27:43Duncan Nicholson thought about blowing the whistle there,
27:45but play goes on.
27:46Danda is taken out, but Tony Hogan keeps going.
27:51Shifting it onto the right.
27:53Oh, he did well to get the shot away,
27:54but I think it's Christian Karestez.
27:57He nods behind.
28:01I do get the feeling
28:03neither of these sides could go in front.
28:07So hard to tell
28:09where the opening goal will come from.
28:12He caught that sweetly.
28:16One throw.
28:17Oh, picks out Graham.
28:20But it's Dundee United who will hit on the counter here.
28:23Fata, one-on-one.
28:25He's got support as well.
28:27He gets the ball stuck under his feet,
28:29but United still going somehow.
28:31Ammar Fata still going.
28:33And John McCracken saves with his feet.
28:38He's some player, Ammar Fata.
28:39Ammar Fata, no idea what he's going to do next.
28:43I don't know how he worked that into that position.
28:50Danda.
28:54It's the ball forward, but Wilferry picks it off.
28:58As we approach half-time,
28:59it's United who are pouring forward.
29:02The ball whipped in.
29:03Graham heads away.
29:05Dand into Stevenson.
29:07Ammar Fata with another shot.
29:09This one just into the side netting.
29:13There were plenty of United fans
29:15who thought that had gone in.
29:17Some Dundee fans as well
29:19were holding their breath.
29:24United with the corner.
29:28Fata, not a chance to deliver.
29:32Turns away from Simon Murray
29:33and then swings it in
29:35and John McCracken has to turn that over the door.
29:38It's made a solid performance
29:39from the Dundee keeper so far today.
29:47Ferry with the long throw.
29:50All the way by Astley.
29:51Comes back in, shout for handball.
29:53Simon Murray hooks it away
29:55but Duncan Nicholson has blown his whistle.
29:59That will be a penalty to Dundee United.
30:04It's right on the edge of the box.
30:08Simon Murray is saying
30:09his arms are down by his side.
30:12They're in a natural position.
30:15He can't believe it.
30:20United have the chance so early on in this second half
30:25to take the lead.
30:28It clearly hits Murray's hand.
30:33Amor Fata from the spot.
30:38He scores!
30:41And it is Dundee United who have the lead at Dend's.
30:46He was the live wire in the first half.
30:51And he has got the goal
30:54from 12 yards.
30:59And there will be a lot of talk as to whether that is a penalty or not.
31:02It definitely hits Simon Murray's hand.
31:05And United have taken full advantage.
31:14Touched forward to Camp Congreve.
31:16He goes down.
31:19Play goes on.
31:20Another shout for handball.
31:22But it's Dundee United breaking away again.
31:25Chevelle
31:27goes for a goal himself.
31:29And that wasn't too far wide.
31:31John McCracken
31:32seemed pretty certain
31:34that was going wide.
31:39Ferry having to scurry to keep that one in.
31:42He's done a good job.
31:45Trey Wright scuffs the clearance.
31:47Comes back in towards Fata.
31:50Waters
31:53He's blocked at close range.
31:55Dundee were looking
31:56for back-to-back top flight victories
31:59over their biggest rivals
32:00for the first time since 2004.
32:03But they're on the back foot here
32:05as they have been for most of this second half.
32:10Another wave of United attack.
32:14Ferry curls to the back post.
32:16Lucas Stevenson's there!
32:18And United have their second!
32:20And then
32:20the two-goal leads
32:22they so desperately craved.
32:26And the fans in the away end
32:29are in raptures.
32:32The home fans in front of Lucas Stevenson
32:34silenced.
32:37John McCracken furious with his defenders.
32:41Wolfe Ferry not closed down quickly enough.
32:44It's a delightful ball for Stevenson to attack.
32:47He throws himself at it.
32:49And it's in off the underside of the bar.
32:52a brilliant second goal.
32:55And you have to say United's second half play probably merits it as well.
33:04How do they protect a two-goal lead?
33:07That's the question for Jim Goodwin and his backroom staff.
33:11They're getting a third possibly.
33:15They're getting a third possibly.
33:39That's the best save this afternoon.
33:42And it keeps Dundee in it just about.
33:52It keeps Dundee in it just about.
34:00And to be honest it was expected.
34:04Ashley Hay seemed to miss time his run there.
34:08He's miles off.
34:10And I think the Dundee players and the Dundee fans knew that one wasn't going to count.
34:17They've seen enough.
34:192-0 down against their biggest rivals.
34:22They don't want to stay for the celebrations.
34:25Samford in behind.
34:27He slices that high and wide.
34:33Wasteful from United but it shouldn't come back to haunt them really at this stage.
34:43Here we come Dundee just sitting back in the final few minutes of this.
34:54The fans staying, participating, a joyous scene.
35:01They have to defend a corner here though, Will Ferry blocking behind.
35:12The ball whipped into the back post, there's the heads, and Ashley Hayes put it in.
35:17Bit of a scramble.
35:19We're in the 94th minute.
35:21Dundee have the goal.
35:25There's only about 60 seconds remaining, if that.
35:29Hayes just quickest to react and poke that over the line, I think it was going in anyway.
35:35Quite well have been a United-owned goal.
35:38Ashley Hayes got his name on the score sheet.
35:46It's a rash challenge from Ross Graham.
35:50Duncan Nicholson quick to produce the card.
35:53The Dundee player's not happy, but the United fans won't be happy either, they've got to defend this now.
36:01The ball whipped in by Wright, the header from Graham.
36:04Oh, it's gone in!
36:07Calamity for Dundee United!
36:10They've thrown away a two-goal lead in the dying seconds of this derby.
36:17Dundee were dead and buried, but Ross Graham has gifted their biggest rivals an unbelievable draw.
36:30He wants the ground to swallow him up, Ross Graham.
36:35He's glanced it into his own net.
36:39And Ashley Maynard Brewer has his hands on his head.
36:42The Dundee United players don't know where to look.
36:46An absolutely astonishing end.
36:50And look at the contrasting emotions between these two teams.
36:54Simon Murray can't believe it.
36:55This mad derby has rarely had a crazier ending.
37:01And somehow, unbelievably, it finishes at Denz.
37:05Dundee 2, Dundee United 2.
37:11I think the way we finish the game pretty much sums up the season for us.
37:17And it's the reason why we find ourselves in the bottom half of the table and not in the top
37:21half competing for those European places.
37:25Defensively, we've just not been good enough all campaign.
37:29And in those moments when we get put under a little bit of pressure, too many times this season we've
37:35crumbled.
37:35And today was the exact same.
37:38I don't believe I've experienced that type of ending to any game that I've been involved as a head coach.
37:44And certainly not in a game as important as a Dundee Derby.
37:50I'm one that's been in football long enough to know that games can change so quickly.
37:56But it looked at that point like it was dead and buried.
38:00But that's what I'm saying about my players.
38:02Wow, they didn't believe that.
38:04Ross Graham, can you give us an indication as to how low he's feeling at the moment?
38:08Listen, as you can imagine, the big man's our captain.
38:12He knows more than anybody in that dressing room what this game means to the supporters who came through the
38:17academy.
38:19I thought he was terrific today.
38:21Really, really good.
38:22I did say to him in the dressing room, I thought the foul was a bit rash.
38:25I think we can stay on our feet and manage that situation and not give them the opportunity to put
38:30the ball in.
38:30But then, you know, with the wind the way it was and the conditions, he's obviously caught himself underneath it
38:37and unfortunately it's ended up in the top bin.
38:40Big handball talking point in this match.
38:42But in fact, there was actually more than one that has forensically discovered by you, Peter Lovenkrantz, in the first
38:49half.
38:50Should Dundee actually have had a penalty?
38:53I definitely think so.
38:56When you see it here, his hand is clearly over his head and it hits his fingers over it.
39:01And you can see the appeal as well.
39:02Dundee players right away put the appeal out that it hits his hand.
39:06And how they have not looked at that, I don't know how they missed it.
39:10Because as clearly as you can see it, his hand is well over his head.
39:13It's not in a natural position.
39:14It stops the ball from moving forward towards the box.
39:17I think it's a clear penalty.
39:19Great detective work actually, but a little bit too late from a Dundee's point of view score.
39:24Yeah, looking at it from the angles, it does look like it touches Max Water's hand.
39:29It changes direction a little bit, doesn't it?
39:31It looks that way.
39:32Obviously we're looking at it in the slow-mo version of it.
39:35But I'm surprised it wasn't looked at, considering what we're about to see very shortly.
39:40Well, let's look at it right now.
39:41In fact, it was a huge talking point.
39:43Simon Murray, with his arm out from his body, was it the correct decision score?
39:50From a player, listen, it's extremely harsh.
39:53You've got a striker back in the defensive era defending.
39:56But the laws of the game?
39:57The laws of the game.
39:58Does his body become bigger?
40:00Yes, it does for me.
40:02It does.
40:02I think that's why they've came to the decision.
40:04The other frustrating thing from a Simon Murray point of view is it's not going anywhere toward goal.
40:08It's going out wide and then you have the chance to defend it.
40:11The question me and Peter had was, if it hits your hand and still makes its way out there, do
40:15restop it for it.
40:17If Will Ferry gets the crossing, it was a strange one, wasn't it?
40:20I can understand why there's so much frustration.
40:23But if you're a Dundee record player, you are claiming it.
40:25What's your take, Peter?
40:26Yeah, it's one of the ones.
40:28I think his hand is a wee bit out from his body.
40:32Of course, me as a Dundee, you want that as being a penalty.
40:35But of course, if you're Dundee United, I think it's a 50-50 split.
40:38People were like, okay, is it going to get given or not?
40:40I believe that it's a penalty because it stops the ball going out to a Dundee United player in the
40:44box.
40:45Because it ends up, Simon Murray takes the ball and kicks it away.
40:47So, for me, he stops the momentum of the play by hitting his hand.
40:51So, yeah, I think it's a penalty.
40:53And his arm is outstretched from his body indeed.
40:56For a spell, Dundee United, very impressive you'd have to say, Scott.
41:00And that was an excellent goal from Lucas Stevenson.
41:03Yeah, I would say longer than a spell for me, Jonathan.
41:06I thought they were the better team throughout the game up until that last five minutes.
41:10A fantastic goal from my United point of view.
41:12So, wing-back to wing-back.
41:13Stevenson's actually the guy who is in there involving the player.
41:16What a ball in from Will Ferry and Lucas Stevenson.
41:18Just desire to get on the end of it.
41:20Comes over the top of Samuels and finishes.
41:23What a fantastic header.
41:24But what Will Ferry actually does really well, he uses the right shoulder of Congreve to whip round that.
41:29Gives him an angle on it from a Dundee point of view.
41:31Congreve's got to get there.
41:32He's got to get close at the ball and stop it.
41:33He can get a foot up and maybe deflect it.
41:35But for Dundee United, at that time, we were fully deserving of the two-goal lead.
41:39Thunders, Heather.
41:41I love to see that.
41:42Coming in, attacking it, front-footed, and jumping over the defender and heads in.
41:46It's a fantastic header.
41:47But I have to agree with Scott.
41:48The Dundee defends in there.
41:49He has to get close to the ball.
41:51Sprint out.
41:51Make sure there's no angle for him to whip the ball into the box.
41:54And he doesn't get close enough.
41:55And he gives them an opportunity to whip a fantastic ball into the back post.
41:58You know Will Ferri's left-footed and that's what he wants to do.
42:01I always think if you're back in that position, you're saying if he's going to get a cross in,
42:05at least take Schoen back in the part he's putting in on his weaker right foot.
42:08He doesn't.
42:09He gives him, as I said, he gives him that right shoulder and the angle to hit round,
42:12and he'll lose a goal from it.
42:13Dundee Darby, always so entertaining.
42:15John McCracken having to be very busy.
42:17Amar Fata, big star in this game as well, Peter.
42:20Yeah, he was brilliant.
42:22He was a joy to watch, to be fair.
42:23It was some fantastic maze runs through the players.
42:26And at this point, I don't really think he knows so much about what's going on.
42:29Incredible.
42:30He probably could do that as well.
42:31Yeah.
42:32He probably would have claimed as well it was on purpose afterwards.
42:35He was the danger man for them.
42:37He created a lot.
42:38He was always a thorn in their sides.
42:40What a save.
42:41McCracken was fantastic.
42:42And he has to get a lot of credit because if it wasn't for him, they would have lost this
42:46game,
42:46but a lot more they could have lost the game and been 4-0 down by the time they get
42:50their two goals.
42:51That was a pick and a bunch for me, that one.
42:52He has some kind of fantastic saves, so he has to get a lot of credit for keeping Dundee in
42:56the game
42:56to go and get the last two goals so late in the game.
43:00Yeah, quite incredible this way this match ebbed and flowed.
43:03Dundee United really did feel that they were on top, but of course that wasn't going to be the way
43:08of things.
43:09The fourth minute of stoppage time, Scott.
43:13None of us saw this coming.
43:14Ashley Hay with the goal.
43:15You just felt that United were going to ease to victory, obviously being so dominant throughout the game.
43:20But it just shows you again, football's down to moments.
43:22They don't defend the moment well enough.
43:24I think you watch it back.
43:25I think Johnny Russell, who's an attacking player, is the only one trying to organise there.
43:29He's just roaming about the box, unmarked, and it falls still.
43:33Look, Graeme does really well to keep a fantastic delivery from Finlay Robertson alive and taps in.
43:37But from a United point of view at that time in the game, you have to defend better.
43:41You can understand the frustration that Jim Goodwin will be going through.
43:44But he's just in the box, unmarked, and taps home.
43:47And that just adds more pressure with a couple of minutes to go.
43:50And then Ross Graeme, I hope right now he's hiding behind a very large couch.
43:53He must be having a large glass of wine tonight.
43:55It was a horrible end to the match for him.
43:58It started with his crunching tackle, Peter.
43:59Yeah, this bit here.
44:02As a coach myself, you just don't want to see that from your players.
44:06That lay on the game.
44:07He's facing away out to the sideline, away from goal, halfway off on the pitch.
44:11And you go in for a tackle from behind.
44:13It's 100% a foul on a yellow card.
44:15But he now gives them a chance to put the ball in the box from an angle where you have
44:19to defend.
44:19Unless you're the last kick of the ball, basically.
44:21And he ends up, of course, costing them.
44:23And it is the stuff of nightmares for the defenders, Scott.
44:27This moment for him.
44:29A moment of jubilation, though, for Dundee.
44:31Yeah, as I said, football comes down to moments.
44:34These two moments, United just didn't defend well enough.
44:36I thought Ross Graeme actually done well throughout the game.
44:39But I think he got spooked from John McCracken being an area.
44:43I think it spooked him.
44:44And he's just trying to get anything on it.
44:45And unfortunately for him, it ends up in, obviously, the top corner.
44:48But that was a game United should never have lost.
44:50It's not the first time this season, especially in the last 10 minutes of games,
44:53where they've dropped points.
44:55And as I said, the frustration that Jim Goodwin will be feeling as a manager right now.
44:59That is...
45:00It was just so dominant, especially in the second half for United.
45:03And John McCracken's had such a big part to play from a Dundee perspective.
45:06The saves that we've obviously seen just there.
45:08And just going up there, putting Dundee right in there.
45:10A bit of pressure spooking Ross Graeme.
45:12And he diverts into his own net.
45:13And it'll feel like a win for Dundee, Peter.
45:15And a tussle for the top of the bottom six, I suppose, for these two rivals.
45:19Between now and the end of the season.
45:22Yeah, but I think now that put the incentive into Falkirk.
45:24Because now, you know, gotta be breathing space.
45:26And should cruise that one in the end, I think.
45:30It's probably cost both teams this result today in that way.
45:33So, I do also feel like Dundee were the better team by a mile.
45:36And should have won the game.
45:38But down to a good goalkeeper by McGregor.
45:40That changes everything and puts them in a tough position now to try and get in.
45:44Okay, so much for the Sunday stuff.
45:46The Saturday action looked exactly like this.
45:52A tattie for Donovan.
45:54And now Oxlade-Chamberlain.
45:57To Necte.
45:59To Tierney.
46:02Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain can't resist.
46:05It's right along the line.
46:07And somehow it doesn't go in.
46:11Well, this is remarkable.
46:16Didn't quite go over.
46:19Motherwell dodge a bullet.
46:30Oh no, Hattate's made an absolute meal of that.
46:33And Elijah just takes full advantage.
46:391-0 Motherwell.
46:47RIO Hattate.
46:48Dilly dallying on the edge of his own box.
46:52And Elijah just finishes it off.
47:08RIO Hattate.
47:08Sparrow's giving it away.
47:10Negrin across.
47:11And Yen.
47:14And 1-1.
47:17Good anticipation by Negrin to capitalize on the error.
47:22It's an error at both ends.
47:24It's led to the two goals.
47:32There's Negrin.
47:35And that's taken a deflection as it clatters off the post.
47:41And Celtic fans happy with their team's performance early in the second half.
47:50McCowan's corner.
47:52Maida flattened at the back there by Longolo.
47:55And John Beaton hasn't seen anything onto Ward.
48:02A big moment potentially coming in here.
48:05Ward got caught a little bit.
48:07The mother will keep her.
48:11And John Beaton is going to come and have a look at it.
48:16And Longolo is very nervous about the outcome here.
48:20If they see this as a penalty.
48:22Then Celtic will have the chance to.
48:26Completely turn the tables.
48:29And John Beaton.
48:32Will award Celtic the spot kick.
48:34And an opportunity to go 2-1 up.
48:37And Longolo's in even more trouble.
48:39He's off.
48:40Motherweller down to ten.
48:42The man who won the penalty shootout last week.
48:45Has the chance to put Celtic in front.
48:47Which he does.
48:51With aplomb.
48:54And from behind Celtic lead.
48:58A game they simply have to win.
49:04Little doubt.
49:05As soon as he hit it.
49:12It's been misjudged in the middle of the park.
49:15And Yang Yunjun's on to it.
49:16And it's 3-1.
49:17And surely game over.
49:20This could end up being a monumental three points.
49:24And surely all but ends.
49:27Motherwell's hopes of being part of the conversation.
49:32Plenty to ponder for Steven Robinson in his first game.
49:35Watching on from this corner.
49:37It could break.
49:38No.
49:39Falkirk deny.
49:41Aberdeen.
49:42Going close there for the first time.
49:45Graham Shinney on the follow-up.
49:48Almost poking Aberdeen into the lead.
49:51It was Morrison with the initial header.
49:53Dillon Tate blocking.
49:55And then again.
50:02Chance to cross into the front post.
50:04That might still break for Spencer.
50:06And it's blocked just wide.
50:08Jack Milne getting the congratulations in the middle.
50:13Another corner for Falkirk as they put some pressure on.
50:16Right at the end of the first half.
50:20Spencer looking for options.
50:21Lyle Cameron putting him under real pressure.
50:25Free kick.
50:28Bain takes his time.
50:30And Nisbet closes him down.
50:31And the ball's in the back of the net.
50:34And Aberdeen have the lead.
50:37In Steven Robinson's first game in charge.
50:40And it's a mistake from Scott Bain at the back.
50:45It all comes from that press from Lyle Cameron.
50:49And Bain just takes his time.
50:53Does Scott Bain even end up punching that into his own net?
50:57Well Kevin Nisbet will certainly claim it.
50:59That will go down as his seventh league goal of the season.
51:02As he just nods in.
51:05A nightmare for Scott Bain.
51:07He won't want to see that one back.
51:09And Falkirk have gifted Aberdeen a goal.
51:14A real present for Steven Robinson.
51:19A can.
51:20To pick out a man in the middle.
51:22Barney Stewart was lurking.
51:27Falkirk desperate now.
51:30A can.
51:31Again getting his head up.
51:33This time he just lays it off to Ethan Ross who skips inside.
51:36The ball in comes now.
51:37There's Barney Stewart!
51:42And his story just keeps getting better.
51:47He nods in.
51:48A late leveller for Falkirk.
51:52And Steven Robinson's dream debut is crushed by that Falkirk goal.
52:01What about that ball in from Ethan Ross as well?
52:11He's looking for a breakthrough midway through the first half.
52:15Nicky Carden gets the ball back.
52:17Low to the edge of the area.
52:19And it's McGraw, second attempt.
52:22Rattling back off the crossbar.
52:25Off the training ground, that one.
52:29And it was almost perfect.
52:32Nicky Carden.
52:36Gets it back and has a swing and a miss.
52:40Passlack lays it off.
52:42Deflection on the shot from Jamie McGraw.
52:45And it almost sneaked in.
52:47Pass Jérôme Priot.
52:50He's managed to get just enough on this.
52:53On the goal line.
52:55To stop it going past him.
52:57Martin Bartley would be delighted if his team could get to half-time.
53:01Goalless.
53:03Danny Wilson.
53:06Switches it across for Christian Montagno.
53:10Catch inside away from Passlack.
53:12Back with Nubli.
53:13Good hit.
53:14Parried away by Selinger.
53:18Well, that would have been some sucker punch.
53:20Had that gone in for Livingston.
53:25Barely been up the pitch in this first half.
53:34Irondale can run with the ball here.
53:38Out wide, Carden.
53:40Picks out McGraw!
53:42And for a second time it's back off the frame of the goal.
53:47Well, Jamie McGraw will be wondering if this is just not his day.
53:52Having smacked the ball against the crossbar first half,
53:55he's opened up his body and tried to curl this in.
54:07Just took too long Josh Campbell to make up his mind.
54:11And here go Livy on the counter with Lewis Smith and Robbie Muirhead.
54:15Two off the bench.
54:18It's Muirhead!
54:19Great effort.
54:23Lots of bend and whip on that.
54:26And it just needed to come back a little bit more.
54:38Pullworth.
54:41There's the opportunity to square it.
54:44Hart's having cleared the danger.
54:46Magnussen goes up.
54:48Taken down well and the post is struck.
54:51Finlay Curtis with the shot.
54:53Kermannock be more than happy with the way he started.
54:56Brought it down beautifully.
54:58Goalkeeper relieved to see that hit would work.
55:07Dias being allowed to run.
55:10Achille looking to create through Watson.
55:14Kilty.
55:15Decent ball in.
55:15This should be 1-0 it is.
55:20Covered by nobody at all.
55:23What a moment for Michael Lawson.
55:26His first come on a goal.
55:30And the Asturian internationalist had the freedom of rugby park to pop that in.
55:37Steinwinder dropped his man.
55:40That's an easy touch.
55:44Kilty.
55:45That was a little short.
55:47And now spittle breaks.
55:51Braga.
55:52Braga.
55:53Great save from the goalkeeper.
55:55Kizaridis.
55:56Almost got it to Kiborek.
55:58Hart's best chance of the game so far.
56:00Kilmarnock dwelt on the midfield.
56:03He dwelt too long.
56:05And Kildu Braga immediately drove in.
56:12No way through for Milne.
56:14Might get a second chance though.
56:15Here's an opportunity for Hart's.
56:17Milne sends it in.
56:18Keeper with a stop.
56:19And that's a foul.
56:24Not been on long Tom Lowry.
56:28He painted a perfect picture of defending.
56:33It's all over at rugby park.
56:35It's delight for Neil McCann.
56:37Disappointment for Derek McInnes.
56:39It's a wounding blow for Hart's title challenge.
56:42What a boost at the bottom for Kilmarnock.
56:46It's finished.
56:47Kilmarnock won.
56:48Hart's nil.
56:51All that leaves the Premiership table looking like this.
56:53Hart's lead at the top.
56:55Cut to two points.
56:56Celtic in second.
56:57Just a point ahead of Rangers at the bottom.
56:59St Mirren and Kilmarnock level on 24 points.
57:01Livingston nine points adrift.
57:04Was this the cold, wintry weekend
57:06when the Motherworld title tilt came to an end?
57:09Peter Lovinkranz ten points behind Hart's.
57:12Is it over for the Steelmen in terms of the title?
57:15I do think for the title.
57:17I can't see them coming back into that.
57:19But I still think and I still believe
57:20that they're going to have a big factor
57:22in who's going to win the league this year.
57:24When the split comes
57:24and they're going to take points off the top three
57:26at some point in doing that running.
57:28So they'll still have a big say
57:30in what's going to happen in the league.
57:31Scott, it's been a great story.
57:33Is it just running out of steam slightly?
57:35Great story, great watch.
57:37Yeah, obviously two back-to-back defeats.
57:39The Dundee game last week was massive.
57:41They didn't overcome it.
57:41They played well in spells against Celtic.
57:43But Celtic ultimately come through.
57:45They're obviously victorious.
57:46So for me, yes, I think the league title
57:48is a stretch too far this season for them.
57:50Well, Scott, Peter, thank you very much indeed.
57:52Plenty of good stuff to come of a football nature
57:54on the BBC.
57:55Celtic versus Glasgow City in the SWPL.
57:59That's on Wednesday night, BBC Alpa.
58:01Cali versus Napoli also on BBC Alpa on Friday late afternoon.
58:05It's the warm-up for Partick Thistle versus St Johnstone with us
58:08on the BBC Scotland channel at half past seven,
58:11all by a view from the terrace.
58:13OK.
58:14I think we've scientifically proven that Scottish football
58:16is the best football in the world from all of us
58:18on the sports team.
58:19Goodnight!
58:20I just wanna be a rocket
58:25When it's time to be alive
58:28When it's time to be alive
58:30When it's time to be alive
58:32When it's doing your beat for life
58:34Are you gonna let it blow your mind?
58:37I just wanna be your rocket
58:43Be, be, be the rocket
58:46Be, be, be the rocket
58:49Be, be, be the rocket
