01:29No, this video doesn't show an altercation between an immigrant and Spaniards in Barcelona.
01:35A viral social media post alleges that a video shows an immigrant in Barcelona refusing to let a blonde Catalan off the metro.
01:46The post says that an Andalusian from the south of Spain comes and resolves the situation with a kick.
01:52And you can see the supposed Catalan running off with the alleged immigrant's jacket, who then chases after the train.
01:58It's been seen more than 2 million times on X.
02:01However, everything about the claim is wrong.
02:04For starters, the video doesn't take place in Barcelona, but in Paris.
02:08You can fairly clearly see a sign for Léal at various points in the video, which is a metro stop in central Paris.
02:15The video also appears to be a skit as part of a regular series of satirical videos published online.
02:20A reverse image search of stills from the video takes us to an account on Instagram and TikTok under the name Mr Salim.
02:28And we can see that the video in question was uploaded in October 2024.
02:32He routinely posts videos of similar pranks, which often amass hundreds of thousands of views,
02:37in which he's pushed out of trains and other metro-based skits.
02:41They mostly appear to take place in Paris, but also in other French cities, such as Lyon.

02:50No, Spain's wildfires were not deliberately started for construction projects.
03:01Spain is battling its worst wildfire season in three decades,
03:05with several major fires ravaging hundreds of thousands of hectares across several regions.
03:10The fires were made worse by the summer heatwaves.
03:13However, a wave of online disinformation is claiming that the wildfires were caused on purpose
03:18to clear the land for construction projects.
03:21But this claim is false.
03:23Spain has a law called La Ley de Montes that explicitly forbids changing the use of any forest land affected by fire for 30 years.
03:31It's a safeguard specifically designed to prevent intentional burning for development.
03:37There are only two exceptions.
03:38The first is in case land use changes were already approved before the fire.
03:43The second allows a change if it's necessary to build infrastructure that will be essential for the public interest.
03:49This means that developers cannot exploit fires to bypass these roads,
03:53so claims that there are loopholes like selling or burning land to force reclassification are entirely false.
03:59Other false posts claim that the blaze in Cádiz in Andalucía was started on purpose to enable several coastal developments.
04:07The fire in Antlanterra, in Tarifa, passed near to housing developments,
04:11but these plots had already been designated as urban land.
04:15Besides, they were not damaged by the fire.
04:18Another rumor claims that the fires would facilitate construction on a luxury tourism project in El Lentiscal.
04:24But not only is this project plan outside of the burn zone within a natural park,
04:28it has also not even entered the construction approval process yet.
04:33Meanwhile, near Madrid, a wire fire in Tres Cantos was linked to a new solar farm.
04:38But the solar plant site is 12 kilometers away in a different municipality,
04:43has had its full approval since 2024,
04:45and did not rely on any fire-related land clearance.
