Leroy calls this the biggest trade since Herschel Walker! The biggest news to drop yesterday was that Micah Parsons got traded to the Green Bay Packers, signing a four-year, $188 million contract with $136 million guaranteed that will make him the highest-paid non-quarterback in league history... Making more than Mahomes!!! Leroy shares his thoughts on the trade and how ridiculous Jerry Jones sounds!
00:01Leroy's calling it the biggest trade since Herschel Walker.
00:06And that is Micah Parsons.
00:09That is right.
00:10Micah Parsons is now a Green Bay Packer.
00:15Here's why it's so stupid.
00:17Let me tell you why it's a bad move.
00:19Okay.
00:20If you had done this four months earlier before the draft,
00:23you would have got four first-rounders.
00:27So let's think about this.
00:28That's a good point.
00:30So, basically, they got, and if I'm not mistaken,
00:38less than what the Dolphins traded for Tyreek Hill.
00:43Yeah, I believe so.
00:44So think about that.
00:46Just two first-rounders.
00:48Crazy.
00:48So are they on the same?
00:52Because defense wins championships.
00:55Yes.
00:55If you can get after the quarterback and stop the run.
00:58But mostly get after the quarterback.
01:00That's who's making all the money.
01:04Then you're considered a contender.
01:06And that's why I view this team a little different than a lot of people.
01:10Because if the one thing that I think this team will be able to do with all the pass rushes they have
01:19and what they have inside is get after the quarterback.
01:25Now, we don't know yet whether they can stop the run on a consistent basis.
01:29I'm talking about the Dolphins.
01:30But you know they have a plethora of pass rushers that can get after the quarterback that have been successful at getting after the quarterback.
01:38And so that's a good start as far as defense and kind of helping your secondary.
01:47Jerry Jones tried to cover his tracks by making good points as a football organization.
01:59And that is, as great as Michael Parsons is, they were almost last in the league at stopping the run.
02:08So if you have a pass rusher like that, they're just going to run the football.
02:13So that all makes sense.
02:16And you could justify it.
02:18At any point in time, you could justify making the trade.
02:22However, the fact that you made the trade now doesn't give that appearance.
02:28It gives the appearance that your ego, it gives the appearance that your frustrations with the situation made you make a move very hastily.
02:40And to say we've been talking about it for months, the trade should have took place on draft day.
02:45Because then you could have maybe got a replacement or some other pieces on that day to have cheap talent on your team for the next couple of years.
02:59So for a guy who is business savvy, for a guy who has stuck to his guns almost at the peril of his franchise,
03:12this is a move that doesn't fit any of that.
03:21Now, a couple specifics about this contract.
03:27Micah Parsons?
03:28Got a check for 120.
03:29That's it.
03:30That's all that matters.
03:32For sure.
03:32That's a guaranteed money?
03:33No, that's the check he got signing.
03:36Oh, okay, okay.
03:37Yeah.
03:37Uh, as of right now, he makes more than Mahomes on a yearly basis.
03:43Mahomes is at, uh, 45 a year.
03:45He's at 47.
03:47Uh, his whole deal is a four-year $188 million contract with $136 million guaranteed.
03:54They'll make him the highest paid non-quarterback in league history.
03:58Which he was going to be anyway.
04:01Yeah, for sure.
04:02Definitely.
04:03Everybody was talking about that before the draft, that Micah Parsons is going to be the
04:08highest paid non-quarterback in the history of the NFL.
04:12This is nothing new.
04:13Like, we're not shocked here.
04:17Nobody in football is shocked by the number that Micah Parsons got.
04:22We've been talking about this all year, that he was going to be the highest non-quarterback.
04:26So, the fact that he got this money, you haven't noticed, nobody's talking about the money he
04:32got.
04:34Everybody's talking about the trade.
04:36We all knew he was going to get that money.
04:41Now, uh, a couple notes from, from Jerry Jones press conference where he, uh, addressed
04:48the Micah Parsons trade.
04:50Here's some quotes.
04:51Uh, we, we all know we could have signed Micah, but we decided to go with the trade.
04:57So, this was definitely a choice.
04:59This wasn't something that just like, you know, out of their hands kind of vibe.
05:03Uh, like Leroy mentioned, he emphasized the fact that we need to stop the run.
05:09And, uh, alluded to the fact that Micah Parsons, although a very good edge rusher, was not
05:15necessarily great when it came to stopping the run.
05:17Um, well, it's not, it's not even that though.
05:20You have to understand pass rushers come from the outside.
05:25Yeah.
05:26They try to run stunts to get him inside to kind of change up that run.
05:31But the way you beat a dominant pass rusher outside is just run inside and you take him
05:36out of the play with your game plan.
05:38So, to say Micah Parsons can't stop the run is not accurate.
05:46To say the Dallas Cowboys couldn't stop the run because they didn't have a force inside,
05:51that's more accurate.
05:53But Jerry Jones and every, and people, some people are trying to put that on Micah Parsons.
05:58That's not accurate.
06:00Right?
06:02The Dolphins are better set up for that.
06:05They were set up better for it last year with, uh, Calais Campbell and Zach Seeler.
06:12Now you put those pass rushers outside and you force up the middle.
06:16Everything gets pushed to your rush guys.
06:18If you don't have those inside guys, then they just run and run right by the pass rushers.
06:23So, yes, he makes a valid point there.
06:26That, that is, that's factual.
06:28You can look at the numbers of what they did last year.
06:31It was terrible.
06:32It was terrible.
06:34And every team that they played just ran it down their throat.
06:37That is, that is, but here's the football problem of it.
06:45What was the problem for the Dolphins last year?
06:50Offensive line?
06:51Yeah, staying healthy, offensive line.
06:54And what did they do this offseason?
06:55Lack of creativity and play calling.
06:56What did they do this offseason?
06:57No discipline.
06:58Uh, what are they, they enhanced their offensive line.
07:02Uh, they went back to, uh, I hope at least a run first, uh, we're not even talking about
07:09the, the schematics.
07:10Oh, okay.
07:11Just what was deemed to be a problem.
07:15Offensive line.
07:16Offensive line.
07:17Yep.
07:17And they made a bunch of moves.
07:19Absolutely.
07:20Brought up their young talent to try to solidify that.
07:24There's no guarantees in work, but they made a conscious effort to improve that portion
07:29of their team.
07:29Correct?
07:30Indeed.
07:31They did.
07:32Dallas knew in January after the season ended, what their issues were.
07:38What did they do about it?
07:40I don't think they've done anything.
07:42So to then take that and then center all of that around the Micah Parsons trade, you
07:49didn't do your job in January before the draft.
07:52Don't put that on him.
07:56Yep.
07:56Now, what do you think of these two picks you got in return?
07:59Like, do you think this is like, you got to run stuffer.
08:02Um, he he's, he's yeah, that's right.
08:04Uh, he's a quality guy.
08:08Yeah.
08:09Right.
08:09Right.
08:10Um, now I'll give you a perfect example of how things are done.
08:18Dallas was terrible at stopping the run.
08:22They traded for a 31 year old run stopper.
08:27Who's, who's good.
08:29Who's good.
08:30I'm not going to say that that's not going to change how they do things inside.
08:34The green Bay Packers were the rush that were the worst at, uh, I guess they call it pass
08:43win rate, um, with their outside guys getting after the quarterback, the worst, almost the
08:50worst in the league.
08:51And so they saw an opportunity to get an elite pass rusher and change all that because Michael
09:01Parsons was the best at that stat.
09:03Now you see this trade and you think one team who was already kind of in the mix for a championship
09:16just fixed a glaring issue.
09:21And another team who hasn't had success in the playoffs either, no success, got rid of one of their dominant players
09:33players to supposedly beef up the run stop.
09:39So from the standpoint of how I'm looking, green Bay got better at what they were bad at.
09:49And Dallas may have gotten better at what they were bad at, but got worse at the thing they were great at.
09:55Got worse overall.
09:56Right.
09:57So now they might be able to stop the run, but now they're going to get picked apart and look at the conference you play in.
10:09Look at the division you play in.
10:12So you're going to have to deal with the Eagles.
10:15You're going to have to deal with Washington.
10:18Who knows where New York is going to be once Jackson Dart starts playing with those wide receivers.
10:23Now, just in your division.
10:28What's better besides Philly?
10:33Stopping the run is not number one on the list.
10:35You better get after the quarterback and you got worse.
10:39So how did your team get better?
10:44Well, honestly, I think the entire NFL world, the entire sports world was shocked by this.
10:51This is some reactions from around the sports world.
10:54Patrick Queen just simply wrote.
10:58Sheesh.
11:00Jonathan Abram says this is insane.
11:06JJ Watt says keep refreshing to see if it's real.
11:12What a move by Green Bay.
11:15Draymond Green chimed in says, wow, Jerry didn't want to pay.
11:18He said, wow, Jerry didn't want to pay the money.
11:21Good bag.
11:22Good bag.
11:24Micah.
11:25Jalen Ramsey says love it.
11:28Tyron Matthew says, wow, I want to rant, but it's no point.
11:34Right.
11:35And Tua weighed in and says, doesn't matter.
11:39Dolphins in four.
11:40I'm not sure what he means by that.
11:41Yeah, so like this is one of those situations where deep down, you know, you screwed the pooch.
11:53You screwed it.
11:55But you can find something to kind of justify it and hope everybody else fall for it.
12:04And I'm going to just say this, Jerry.
12:09In the words of Marcos, you ain't falling for it.
12:15We ain't falling for it.
12:16Your emotions got in the way of your business savvy and you made an erratic move because you didn't want to deal with it.
12:27Because you knew you were going to have to pay him $188 million and your pride, based on all the things that you've said to this point, would make you look foolish.
12:40And that's what he had a problem with.
12:43My heart goes out to the city of Dallas in one calendar year.
