00:00And let's start with what could have been Renee. South Carolina women's basketball coach Dawn Staley

00:05says she did indeed have a formal interview with the New York Knicks for their head coaching

00:10vacancy earlier in the summer and said quote if the Knicks would have offered the job I would

00:14have to do it. Now Staley revealed the news on Candice Parker and Aaliyah Boston's Post Moves

00:20podcast saying the potential impact of hiring the first woman head coach in NBA history was

00:25indeed on her mind. She said quote it's not just for me it's for women. Yeah and so when I look at

00:31this and you look financially Dawn Staley's deal that she made this past January to become the

00:35highest paid women's basketball coach with 25.25 million dollars makes me know this is not a

00:41financial move. It is exactly as she mentioned about being a trailblazer because when you look

00:45at Dawn Staley as a player and as a coach she's accomplished so much in women's basketball including

00:49winning three national championships with South Carolina but she's been there for 17 years. She

00:53coached with Temple for eight years and so this seems like the next step for her to move into a

00:58new space challenging her in a different way because yes there are the Gino Auriemma's of the

01:02world that might stay with the same program for their entire longevity but Dawn Staley why not consider

01:07being the first head coach when we haven't had a full-time women's head coach in the NBA but the

01:11NBA might not be ready for her but they thought of playing in the historic and New York Knicks Madison

01:17Square Garden the legends being one of the first teams even going back to the BAA with their history

01:21it makes sense that she was considering. She said she wouldn't take any NBA job and she is a Philly

01:26girl so she was interested in the Knicks but we always talk for so long who will be the first one

01:32to break that ceiling maybe it's Becky Hammond there was a point I think a lot of people thought Cheryl

01:36Miller could have done it but definitely Dawn Staley is literally at the top of that conversation.

01:40In this case he wasn't the most famous company that Zaid's company to invest in the history and

01:56who is such a great part of that show and it wasn't the most famous ones, it doesn't matter the

01:59times.
