The Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 2 was struck by a power blackout on Thursday (Aug 28) and Transport Minister Anthony Loke described it as “completely unacceptable” as it affects the country's image.

Loke said he had instructed the airport operator to present a report on the incident in the ministry's post-Cabinet meeting on Aug 29.

00:10blasted the operator of Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2
00:14for a power failure that lasted for 20 minutes.
00:17Lok was scheduled to attend the launch of the Tap Travel and Discover event
00:21by Gateway at KLIA 2 at 2.30pm when the blackout happened.
00:26He said he arrived at the event 15 minutes early
00:29but the program could not commence until 2.35pm due to the blackout.
00:34He said what happened was unacceptable
00:36as in the public transport sector
00:38any technical disruption lasting more than 15 minutes
00:42was considered a major disruption
00:44especially at the country's main gateway.
00:47He said that will give people a bad image of Malaysia.
00:50He said during the blackout
00:51many electrical systems including the escalators were not working
00:55although the information boards were still running.
00:58He said he had instructed the Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad Management
01:02and Gateway at KLIA 2 to prepare a full report
01:06on the incident within 24 hours
01:08for his post-cabinet meeting for the ministry on Friday.
01:11He said he wanted a guarantee that the incident will not happen again.
