00:00Question for the Minister, you mentioned new investments coming into Subang for business
00:07jets.
00:08Just maybe if you could outline some of the details of those investments.
00:12And also kind of related to that is, when do you foresee regional jet operations starting
00:17at Subang as well?
00:20Jet operations will start as soon as this year, so probably in the third quarter.
00:25We are doing some renovation right now, and there are some adjustments in terms of the
00:31terminal that is undertaken by MHB.
00:35So that is just for the initial phase, for the first three years.
00:39But the medium term, we'll be building a new terminal in Subang, that is to replace the
00:45Skypark terminal.
00:47That will take at least about three years to complete.
00:49But meanwhile, we are doing some adjustments for the jet operations to begin, to start
00:55immediately.
00:56As I mentioned, probably by the third quarter of this year.
01:00So that is to answer your questions.
01:03As regards to other investments, of course that is handled by MHB.
01:08MHB are building facilities, and so they are providing the land for investments to come
01:13in.
01:14Either they build the facilities, they build the hangar, or they provide the land for lease
01:19in terms of new investment.
01:20That is up to MHB.
01:21Any details in terms of investment, I cannot reveal because it's commercial.
01:26It's up to them.
01:27But as I mentioned, our role in the government, in the Ministry of Transport, is to facilitate.
01:35If any new investment comes in, where they face some hurdles, like in the case of SQJ,
01:41they did face some hurdles in the beginning, where there are certain requirements that
01:46they cannot fulfil in terms of licensing.
01:49So we make some adjustments to facilitate that, so that that investment can come.
01:54If we are too rigid to say that we cannot make an adjustment, that laws or that particular
01:59regulation cannot be exempted, then we will lose this investment.
02:03So we are taking a very pragmatic approach.
02:06So certain requirements, of course, yes, is to protect our local industry, our local companies.
02:11But we know in aerospace industry, we need the foreign investment.
02:16So in this case, we allowed that investment to come in, and here we are.
02:20We have this facility and providing a lot of jobs for Malaysians.
02:24So that is the approach that we are taking.
