00:00So five days left of the summer transfer window as I speak now on Wednesday and Newcastle United still need to sign a striker.
00:09Now I can't believe I'm saying that. If you'd said to me back in June when this opened for that brief mini window back on June 1st,
00:16we'd get to this point with less than a week to go. Newcastle haven't signed a striker. I would have been very surprised.
00:22But here we are. It's a reality of the situation. You can't say they haven't tried.
00:26Have they been naive maybe in some of the markets they've gone for and some of the players? Possibly.
00:32Would they have foreseen Alexander Rizak, you know, his refusal to play?
00:37Anyhow, not being able to pick him for selection? Probably not.
00:41No matter what player and agents and Liverpool may say, I don't think they expected that.
00:45So right now, as I said, we're getting into the stage where Newcastle are getting desperate for a striker.
00:49They need at least one to cover the loss of Callum Wilson.
00:52Now it looks like their man that they've picked is Jorgen Strand-Larsen.
00:56Now they've been linked with Johan Wisser of Brentford throughout the window.
01:00But that deal seems less and less likely to happen with Brentford's demands.
01:03Jorgen Strand-Larsen will cost similar to what Brentford are demanding for Wisser.
01:08I think he's going to, it'll probably be around the £60 million mark if they can get the deal done.
01:13Now for me, is it a lot of money? Yes.
01:15Is it a lot of money considering Wolves paid £23 million for him, what, two months ago?
01:19Yes. But ultimately, he scored 14 Premier League goals last season.
01:23I've been impressed with him every time I've seen him.
01:25I remember Molyneux last season, he bullied Dan Byrne for their goal.
01:30Really, you know, and I've not seen many players do that recently.
01:33And he was really good in the 3-0, although Wolves got beat 3-0 at St. James' Park earlier this year.
01:38He had that chance, saved really well by Martin Dubravka.
01:41So yeah, I've been impressed by Strand-Larsen.
01:44Is he the one I would have went in the window of wanting them to sign? No.
01:46But does he guarantee Premier League goals? Yes.
01:48And right now, that's what Newcastle United need.
01:50They've showed that at Villa Park. They've showed that Monday night.
01:52I'm not going to talk too much about Monday night. Everything's been said about that.
01:56But yeah, I think they need goals.
01:57Strand-Larsen is something that will guarantee them goals.
02:00Now they played, sorry, they made a bid of £50 million on Monday.
02:04That was rejected.
02:05They went and upped that offer on Tuesday.
02:07That was rejected again.
02:08And then as that bid's getting rejected, Strand-Larsen goes and scores twice.
02:11Within 11 minutes of coming on the pitch to secure Wolves a win against West Ham,
02:15which probably, I don't know whether it knocks money on the price tag,
02:17but certainly makes Wolves less willing sellers, really.
02:23Because, you know, Wolves are probably going to struggle this year.
02:25I think their fans know that.
02:27I think everyone recognise that Wolves could be one of the teams that gets dragged in,
02:30sort of with the bottom three, maybe West Ham as well,
02:32maybe possibly Everton, Brentford.
02:34So, you know, they're a team that there's worries about relegation.
02:38And if you've got a 14-goal striker, like Strand-Larsen on your books,
02:41you're unlikely to be relegated or certainly giving yourself a good chance.
02:44Losing him with, what, you know, five days before the window,
02:47even less time if this deal gets done, is going to be a big blow for Wolves.
02:52Whether they sanction a deal remains to be seen.
02:54Vito Pereira didn't close the door fully on a deal.
02:57He sort of said, you know, every player has their price.
03:00And he did want to sell.
03:02So it'll be interesting to see how that plays out over the next couple of days.
03:05And again, Wiss are in the background as well as wanting to watch.
03:07And of course, the whole E-Zack situation.
03:09I don't imagine any movement on that.
03:11But yeah, I think Strand-Larsen seems to be the one they're going for.
