00:00Right back here on the early line for a Tuesday morning here.
00:03A little bit of updated information.
00:04It's Donnie Wrightson and Joe Renier.
00:05We do a live show.
00:06We like to bring you stuff that is absolutely live.
00:08How about Tommy DeVito, released from the New York Giants?
00:10It's apparent here their quarterback room now is intact.
00:13Russell Wilson will be the starting quarterback.
00:14Jameis Winston, I guess, would be the number two.
00:17And then Jackson Dart to de facto number three.
00:19But Tommy DeVito cut today from the New York Giants.
00:21He's going to either get back to that practice squad
00:23or somebody's picking him up, Joe.
00:25I'm not so sure Jameis is the number two in Dable's mind.
00:29But he'll play it that way.
00:32Russ is the clear one.
00:33But don't be shocked.
00:35Again, quarterback needy teams.
00:37Jackson Dart is the future of the Giants.
00:39Jameis Winston is not.
00:41He's expendable.
00:42Wouldn't shock me, Donnie, at all,
00:44if we start hearing about the phone ringing there
00:47and maybe Jameis, like Pickett, could be another guy up for sale.
00:52Yeah, we'll get some interesting, you know,
00:53names that will be out there on the wire once this day ends.
00:56Oh, I didn't think that was going to happen or a surprise here.
00:58Tommy DeVito's not necessarily a surprise.
01:00One of those quarterbacks had to go.
01:01It just was him.
01:02They didn't sign, I don't think, Jameis Winston
01:04to not have him on the roster.
01:05We'll see how it plays out.
01:06But I do think Tommy DeVito is an NFL quarterback.
01:08A starter?
01:09Maybe not.
01:10But he certainly deserves to be on a roster
01:11and he'll find his way to a roster.
01:13You know who else found their way back to the roster
01:15was Terry McLaurin and the Commanders.
01:17They reached a three-year deal worth up to $96 million.
01:21Scary Terry's in the building.
01:22Now the Commanders can focus on the season,
01:25maybe chase down the Philadelphia Eagles,
01:26make a deeper run in the playoffs, which means, Joe,
01:29they get to the Super Bowl here.
01:30But Terry's back in the fold.
01:31They needed that to happen and it happened.
01:34All right.
01:34Can we all have a legit conversation here, though,
01:37for a minute on it with this?
01:39If I hear one more player tell me how I want a trade request
01:46and then we spend five more minutes talking about,
01:50ooh, you know what would be a great fit if they wanted to trade him?
01:54Ultimately, for them to do exactly this.
01:57He was the first guy this year, way before Parsons,
02:00way before Anderson's.
02:02It started with him, where he was like,
02:04everything, showed up at camp, everything's good.
02:07And then McLaurin, a couple days later, was like,
02:09listen, we're not moving.
02:10Trade me.
02:11Here's my trade request.
02:13Then Hendrickson requested to be traded.
02:16Then Parsons requested.
02:18The only guy who has said, everyone settle down.
02:22Let's not lose any sleep over this.
02:23Everything's going to work out.
02:25Is Jerry Jones, who we all think is a few fries short of a happy meal.
02:30But the reality is, how is he wrong, Donnie?
02:32How is he wrong?
02:33You can ask for a trade request all you want.
02:35It doesn't mean you're going anywhere.
02:37It likely means you're not being traded.
02:40And that's exactly what we saw here.
02:42Exactly.
02:43Usually, when you get the trade request, it doesn't even come up.
02:45Like, you're moved.
02:46Like, you don't even have to request the trade.
02:47You just go behind the scenes.
02:48I want a trade request.
02:49In three hours, you're moved to another team.
02:51I always remember, like, Tyree Kill getting traded from the Kansas City Chiefs.
02:53We had a note like, hey, looks like he might want to trade here.
02:56And like five minutes later, it was a done deal to the Miami Dolphins.
02:59Contracts signed, sealed, delivered.
03:00And away he went to Miami.
03:01Also understand this, Myles Garrett.
03:03Don't you remember?
03:04I just don't like Cleveland anymore.
03:06It's not even about the money.
03:07Well, how about we pay more than anybody else?
03:08Oh, love Cleveland.
03:09Thanks.
03:09I don't want to get traded.
03:10Now, it is about the money.
03:11And I'll stay in Cleveland and win four games this year.
03:13But it was never about the money I want to win.
03:15No, it's not.
03:16It's always about the money.
03:17You pay these players what they want.
03:18They'll say whatever you want them to say at this point.
03:21Next up is Trey Hendrickson.
03:22He was upset.
03:23He stayed away from camp for like three or four days.
03:25The man goes, we ain't giving you a new deal.
03:2750 grand, 50 grand, 50 grand.
03:29All right, I'll show up here.
03:30But I want a long-term deal.
03:31And I'm not getting off my sticking point, Joe, of a long-term deal.
03:36He got a one-year deal, got a pay bump.
03:37But he didn't get his long-term deal.
03:38So apparently, Joe, he didn't stick with his emotions and say to myself, I'm never changing
03:44off of what I want.
03:45Yeah, you did.
03:45You're back in camp.
03:46You're making good money.
03:47And we'll see what happens.
03:47But Hendrickson, back in the fold there for the Bengals.
03:49I mean, this has been going on for two years, Donnie.
03:53He has been battling with the front office of the Bengals for a raise that kind of went
03:59along with what he was producing on the field.
04:03And then, of course, they let this thing drag out.
04:06This wasn't like an over-the-summer thing where Hendrickson was trying to hold their feet
04:10to the fire.
04:11For two years, the guy has been, what, 17 and a half sacks, led the league in 2024.
04:16He's got the most sacks over the last two years.
04:20He's been trying to get paid in a new deal.
04:23And the best they could do was, all right, we'll give you $30 million, but then you're
04:27a free agent at the end of the year.
04:29Well, all right.
04:30Congratulations.
04:31Now you've got to worry about another team stepping in and paying him what you should
04:36have paid him already.
04:37Exactly.
04:38Now, understand this, Joe, because I've always said, like, the offseason, you draft the young
04:42rookie defensive edge pass rusher, and he doesn't sign right away.
04:46But he signed, like, ooh, okay, that's pretty good.
04:48So he's back in the lineup.
04:49Then you take a look at Trey Hendrickson.
04:50It's like, well, you can't trade him and get a third-round pick back or a second-round
04:53pick.
04:54That doesn't help you this year.
04:55He's back into the fold.
04:56If we look at the odds for the AFC North to win that, Ravens at minus 155, the Bengals
05:01at that plus 260 price, then the Steelers and the Browns.
05:03Do you feel any better today about the Cincinnati Bengals than you did in the offseason?
05:07Because I do.
05:09Because it could have been disastrous.
05:11And so it's like we got that car back on the road driving down 55 miles an hour, and the radio's
05:15playing, and the vibes are good again.
05:18Well, I got to tell you, now this is better for the Bengals.
05:21Because him being a free agent at the end of the year, Donnie, means he's playing for
05:26that contract this year for them.
05:29So for $30 million, yes, he's in line as one of the highest-paid defensive pass rushers
05:36in the league.
05:36But he also knows that if he falls flat on his face this year, well, what have you done
05:42for me lately?
05:43You know, you're looking for that big next contract.
05:46He's got to show up.
05:47I think this helps the Bengals, certainly defensively, as long as Burrow and company stay healthy
05:53and that offensive line shows up.
05:55I don't know that it helps the numbers right now, but I don't think it's a bad thing for
06:00the Bengals at all.
06:02No, it's not.
06:02And you take a look at the schedule, like opening up against the Cleveland Browns, it's
06:06on the road.
06:06You're a better team than the Browns.
06:07Now, granted, also, last year, we didn't play in the preseason, talking about the Bengals.
06:11They showed up week number one against a bad New England team and lost to them.
06:14Now they played in the preseason, and their defense is going to be intact.
06:17Can't be any worse than last year.
06:19They should be able to beat the Browns.
06:20Then they come home against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
06:23They'll be favored in that game as well.
06:24This should be a 2-0 start, which is something we're not used to seeing for the Cincinnati Bengals,
06:28Joe.
06:28Listen, they sacrificed one of the better DCs in Lou Anarumo, who is now at Indy.
06:36So they bring in Golden, and now all of a sudden, we had Hendrickson issues.
06:41But now that that's all wrapped up, I still say the Bengals are hit or miss based upon how
06:47they protect Joe Burrow.
06:48That offensive line has been one of the worst over the last two seasons, Ani.
06:53They've got to get the offensive line right if they are going to make a run at Baltimore.
06:57Exactly.
06:58Now, Joe Burrow does like to play with fire in the pocket.
07:00What I mean by that is he holds the football longer to make sure his wide receivers can
07:04get open.
07:04So he'll cause some of those sacks.
07:05But you're right.
07:06You take one hit at the wrong time, and your season is over.
07:09You must protect Joe Burrow in that pocket.
07:11We'll see if they can do that.
07:12But their defense, hey, maybe there's some hope on the horizon.
07:15More moves around the NFL landscape coming up next right here on the early line.
07:18And it's Tuesday, people.
07:20Get excited.
07:22The Raiders making moves out here.
07:25Why?
07:25Because Aiden O'Connell, your backup quarterback, went down with a broken bone.
07:29You got to get somebody with some veteran leadership that can come in behind Geno Smith
07:33if you need him.
07:34And Pete Carroll's an old school guy.
07:35You think Geno Smith pulls a hamstring or maybe gets a concussion test in week number
07:39one, and you're going to a guy that hasn't played that much in the NFL?
07:42That ain't happening.
07:43So you know what happened yesterday?
07:44Kenny Pickett was traded from the Cleveland Browns to the Vegas Raiders to sort of add
07:48to that quarterback room and get a little bit more veteran talent just in case Geno goes
07:52down.
07:52But also, the other side of the equation now, much clearer quarterback room to keep two
07:58young players along with Joe Flacco.
08:00That's what I saw yesterday, Joe.
08:02Yeah, I mean, it's clear now at least the direction that the Browns are heading with that
08:08room with Flacco at the top of the board there.
08:11And then they will try to figure it out between, you know, between Dylan Gabriel and Shador Sanders
08:17there.
08:18But Pickett is hilarious.
08:20I mean, this is a guy that was the number 20 overall pick in 2022, right, by Pittsburgh,
08:25then somehow gets to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a fifth-round pick, right?
08:31And then wins a Super Bowl as the backup quarterback, Donnie.
08:36Then he gets traded to the Browns in the offseason.
08:38And now he gets traded to the Raiders.
08:41So tell me there is not, you can be as mediocre as you like and be a backup quarterback in
08:46the NFL and still make millions of dollars.
08:49There you go.
08:50See, that's one of the best jobs because as a backup quarterback, you never want to really
08:53get into the game, but you're a very popular ops.
08:55Like, man, put Pickett in there.
08:57He can't be any worse.
08:58And Pickett's like, you know what?
08:59Maybe I can.
09:00I should just sit on the sideline here and support the starting quarterback and make a couple
09:03million dollars a year.
09:04And away you go into your career.
09:05That can happen.
09:06But Kenny Pickett on the move from Cleveland over to the Vegas Raiders.
09:09Another guy on the move.
09:10How about Amari Cooper signing with the Raiders, the team that drafted him in 2015.
09:15Then he had some stints there, obviously, with the Dallas Cowboys and the Cleveland
09:18Browns.
09:19He was good with the Browns in 2023, 1,250 yards, but sort of fell off the map last year
09:25with the Browns and also the Buffalo Bills.
09:27Looking for that career resurgence here.
09:29Once a very good wide receiver, but it's been a while since that's been the case.
09:33We'll see if he can regain that form.
09:34Should I say, Joe Ranieri, do you think he can regain that form in Vegas?
09:38Yeah.
09:38Well, a lot of it is going to depend on who your quarterback is and who's his quarterback
09:42in Vegas?
09:44Do you know?
09:45Yeah.
09:45No, I don't.
09:45I don't think so.
09:46Because if Josh Allen can't make you look good and can't help you, you know, boost your
09:51career and get back on track at 31 years old, Gino Smith is not going to be the guy to
09:58make you look good.
09:59So don't forget, quarterbacks make receivers.
10:01Receivers don't make quarterbacks.
10:03Yeah, no, no doubt about it.
10:06Sometimes you can catch lightning in a bottle, but it's the same way like, hey, Odell Beckham
10:09is going to keep changing teams here.
10:11Sooner than later, you understand somebody is cooked.
10:13And also, most really good wide receivers, Joe, they're not signing August the 25th or
10:1726th to get placed on a football team as the last piece of the puzzle to add as your wide
10:22receiver number one.
10:23That's the way it goes down.
10:24How about this one?
10:25Dan Skipper, who is known for doing this, Joe, if you can see the graphic.
10:29All right.
10:30I'm uncovered.
10:30I'm covered here, ref, you know, sort of sneaking that one by.
10:33He was released as an offensive tackle.
10:35That was surprising.
10:36Now, does he find his way to Chicago automatically so we can get Ben Johnson to sort of do the
10:40same things he did in Detroit?
10:41But that was an odd one.
10:42Early cut yesterday for him.
10:43It is odd because, again, you know, experienced linemen like that, Donnie, don't exactly,
10:50you know, they don't fall in people's laps here.
10:53But nobody saw that coming.
10:55And I'm wondering if this might be injury related somewhere along the lines that we're
11:00not hearing about.
11:02But it'll be interesting to see exactly where he lands because I don't I don't think he'll
11:06be without a job or a team here very long.
11:08No, I don't think he will be either offensive lineman.
11:12If you have put it this way, Joe, if you're a tackle and you have a pulse in the NFL,
11:15you will be picked up by somebody because everybody needs offensive lineman.
11:19That is a correct statement here.
11:20How about Teddy Bridgewater?
11:21QB two in Tampa.
11:23Guy just came off the freeway, drove on up from Miami, coaching high school football.
11:27So, hey, Tampa, you think I can help you out?
11:28Sure, you can get back in here.
11:30Hope he doesn't wear like a jersey.
11:31That's like number 40 or 80, whatever the heck he was wearing in Detroit.
11:34We just had this conversation, right?
11:37Just be a be a backup quarterback.
11:40It's better than being the sixth man on an NBA team because they make trillions of dollars
11:45doing absolutely nothing but playing six minutes a night.
11:48Could you I mean, the backup quarterback role, you can be high school coach one year backup
11:53quarterback for the Tampa Bay buster next year and making millions.
11:57Unreal.
11:58But by the way, keep it in Tampa.
11:59The NFL's heaviest player in history cut by Tampa.
12:04His name was Desmond Watson.
12:05Did you see any like the highlights?
12:06His highlights were walking up and down the field as opposed to doing gassers.
12:10And that's how he was supposed to lose weight.
12:12Joe, how about that?
12:14They really tried to get the guy.
12:17I mean, they really did.
12:18They put a lot of energy and effort trying to get this guy underweight and athletic enough
12:22to make a difference, but he just couldn't do it.
12:25Let me understand this, too.
12:27You got to be kidding me.
12:28When you're that big, it should be so easy to lose weight in camp.
12:32They put you on a decent diet.
12:33You walk around the field in 85 to 90 degree temperatures.
12:36You lose 30 pounds in three weeks.
12:38He couldn't do that.
12:40Man, more NFL topics next is how we get down.
12:43It's cut down season.
12:44Donnie Wrightside and Joe Ranieri.
12:46When we talk about football today, there'll be a lot of people.
12:49I mean, it's got to be over a thousand people losing their job today.
12:51Joe, what'd you say?
12:52I mean, we'd have like 30.
12:53Let me do some quick math here.
12:55Let's just say, I don't know, cut down day, you go from 80 or so players down like 50.
12:59So let's just call it 30 to be kind.
13:01We'll go 30 times what?
13:0232?
13:04Roughly 950 plus players today probably will be released in the NFL.
13:09There will be a bloodbath.
13:10Some of these guys will get picked up by other teams.
13:12Some will go right back to their teams on the practice squad because they were, the rules
13:16changed on what you can do with the practice squad and also have a bigger practice squad
13:19than you had in the past.
13:20Those guys will be fine.
13:21But if we just take a look at the coaches, like cut down season for the coaches, it's
13:25no surprise.
13:26When we look at the coaches that we expect to be fired early on in the season, or at
13:30least odds wise, it doesn't surprise me that comes up as Mike McDaniel as the favorite
13:34at a plus 200 price for the Miami Dolphins.
13:37That's a powder keg.
13:38Like expectations for the Dolphins for me this year aren't high.
13:42But also you have to understand this.
13:43It's not the first year of regime.
13:45You don't get to say, hey, you know what, Joe?
13:46Well, things didn't work out for us this year, but I know next year things will get
13:50better.
13:50That's not the case.
13:51So if we look at this list, McDaniel, Dable, Strykin, Stefanski, Canales, Gannon, Taylor,
13:56it does make sense that Mike McDaniel is the leader in the clubhouse right now to me.
14:02Absolutely.
14:03I mean, it's dysfunction, Donnie.
14:05I mean, I hear it every day here in South Florida.
14:08The reports coming out is that this team lacks leadership in a big way in that locker room.
14:14And you know where it starts, right, with the head coach in Mike McDaniel.
14:18So listen, some guys make great offensive coordinators, great defensive coordinators
14:23don't make great head coaches.
14:26We've seen that for decades in the NFL.
14:29But there are a lot of guys on that list, him just being one of them, that it's make
14:35or break time here.
14:37And you better put up or shut up.
14:39I think the Giants are going to be better than some people think.
14:42And I think as long as Dable can show that, you know, him and Dart are on the same page,
14:49then I think he's pretty much safe.
14:51So I don't think there's any value in him.
14:53But who are we kidding?
14:54If Dallas wins four or five games this year, tell me they won't have a new head coach and
14:59a new everything coming in at a year from now.
15:02Yeah, like Mike Tomlin, 28 to one, first head coach fired this season.
15:06Come on now.
15:07That's, you know, that's not going to be the case at that point.
15:09But if we are looking up top, like Brian Dable's a four to one price, he should have got fired
15:13last year.
15:13But again, that organization is so poorly run from top to bottom.
15:17Like, I don't think Dable gets fired even if they win one game.
15:19Like, hey, you know what?
15:20We have a future quarterback and a high draft pick.
15:22Let's get excited for things.
15:23Now, granted, I think the Giants are going to win at least five games this year.
15:26But I don't think Dable's getting fired.
15:27Steichen's an interesting one.
15:28But also, no longer, like, your owner passes away in Jim Irsay.
15:32Sometimes he could fly off the handle.
15:33Like, he told you how much he hated Jonathan Taylor.
15:35And then one day, he's like, hey, man, love this guy.
15:37Sounded him to a big deal.
15:37What are you kidding me?
15:38Love this guy.
15:39Always wanted to be on this football team.
15:40You don't have that sort of, like, violent, like, swings that you would have.
15:44It's the fan scout.
15:45I don't think he's going anywhere.
15:46Canalis is an interesting one.
15:47But Mike McDaniel, to me, absolutely.
15:48If you look at that list, Joe, up and down, can a Todd Bowles get fired, like, midseason?
15:53Like, Raheem Morris, 18 to one?
15:55There's one with a chance with expectations, right?
15:58Not going to happen.
15:59Zach Taylor would be the guy that I would look at because of the Bengals who started.
16:04No way.
16:04You know, all their starters, all preseason long because they want to get off to a good
16:09start.
16:10And I'll tell you right now, if the Bengals start again, 1-3, 1-4, 0-4, yeah, Zach Taylor
16:18is firmly going to be the leader in the odds board on that because I think he, of all people,
16:24is on his last legs.
16:26Yeah.
16:26Hold on.
16:26Let me see this, too, because this is, I always get a kick out of this.
16:29And here's where I always, like, jump in with Cincinnati's run so ridiculously opposite
16:33of everybody else.
16:35Marvin Lewis was a good coach, but I always remember the times, like, if Marvin Lewis had
16:38a year left on his contract, the Bengals would never fire him, not because it'd be better
16:41for the organization, but they go, we have to pay Marvin Lewis an extra year, and he's
16:45not going to be here.
16:46We got to get a coaching staff, which means you have to pay that coaching staff for a year
16:49and bring in your new coaching staff.
16:51So when I look here, Zach Taylor's contract with the Cincinnati Bengals runs through 2026.
16:55There's no way he's getting fired during the season here.
16:58Wait a second.
16:58If I fire him, that means I have to get an interim coach off the staff, and if that interim
17:03coach is making $300,000, I got to pay him, like, a million dollars to coach the rest
17:07of the season.
17:07Hey, Zach, even though we stink right now, run the rest of the season.
17:10That's the way the Bengals think.
17:11Not what's best for the organization, what's best for the bottom line.
17:14So when I look and see Zach Taylor at 9-1, that should be 999-1, because they ain't
17:20never firing him with a year left on his contract to elevate somebody else and pay him like a
17:24head coach for the remaining parts of the season.
17:26That's madness at this point, Joe, but that's the NFL.
17:29That's the way it goes down.
17:30We'll see if Mike McDaniel makes it past the month of September at this point, or things
17:33just go completely awry.
17:35The early line, you never know who's going to show up.
17:37You never know what the surprise is.
17:39You never know who's going to brighten your morning right here on the Sports Grid Network.
17:42With Joe Ranieri and myself, we try to do the best we can to sort of get the day kicked
17:46off in the right direction, and then as the day moves on, you need that energy pick-me-up
17:51right around 6.30 p.m. Eastern.
17:54That's Game Time Decision.
17:55We have the host of Game Time Decisions here.
17:58It's Kevin Walsh.
18:00What are you doing, man?
18:01Good to see you.
18:02Great to see you guys.
18:04You know, excited to be here.
18:06You're breaking down a full baseball card.
18:09Are you celebrating Futures Day, fellas?
18:11Oh, yeah.
18:13I mean, Futures, $10.
18:14Tie up your money for six months for $10 and don't even know who you actually took at
18:18this point.
18:18It's a big Futures Day here.
18:20By the way, I do enjoy heading up to the Kevin Walsh Memorial Studios there in Bellworks
18:24and having shows on college football.
18:26I used to seeing you around the studios.
18:29Haven't seen you there.
18:29So maybe it's that time to get involved again.
18:32I heard you were throwing a real fit.
18:34Your headset wasn't where you had last left it.
18:36You were real upset.
18:39You were trying to get chairs moved around.
18:42You know what I told everybody?
18:44Good work.
18:45Shook a couple of hands.
18:46Liked what I was hearing.
18:47Exactly.
18:48That headset got removed immediately.
18:49I told Joe to buck up and sit up in that chair and like it.
18:51In 3-2-1, we were live.
18:53Now, let's get to the good stuff here because we had a little kinship last night.
18:58The Philadelphia Phillies, Kevin, I picked up my phone as a double went down the line.
19:01I was going to text in, ooh, that's another winner.
19:03Three and a half team total in the Phillies.
19:05Boy, was that easy.
19:06They didn't score the rest of the way.
19:08Then I see a tweet because as old as I am at 47 years old, sometimes I still can't sleep
19:13when I lose wagers I should win.
19:15You had something happen to you last night that was absolutely stunning.
19:18On a team that scored 13 runs last night, you weren't even looking like you didn't even
19:24need base hits.
19:25You just needed a dude to wind up on base and get knocked in from somebody.
19:29Francisco Lindor went 0-6 with three strikeouts at the top of that order for a team that
19:34not only just busted up the Phillies, they scored in the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th, and you
19:41got nothing.
19:42You need to get one HRR from my guy Lindor last night.
19:46So you're in the market more frequently than I am, Donnie.
19:50So maybe you've seen this.
19:52I've never seen, first of all, half of the reason I, because I also bet the Mets yesterday,
19:58about 80% of that was probably how hot Francisco Lindor was.
20:03I believe the quote I said on, on game time was, well, the Mets go as he goes lie.
20:08That's just not true.
20:09Apparently nothing that he does matters whatsoever.
20:12Not only was it that every other starter had two-plus hitter in RBI, pinch hitter Brett
20:18Beatty ended up with two-plus because he had multiple runs scored.
20:21I cannot believe that arguably the best player on the Mets in the game, they scored 13, finished
20:270-6 while the rest of the whole lineup ate.
20:30Tough scene.
20:31Who do you have more faith in, Kev?
20:34American League or National League when it comes to who's going to make the postseason
20:39or not, it feels like the American League is going to change over the next five weeks
20:43every other day.
20:44The National League, maybe not so much.
20:47It's so tough because the Cincinnati Reds, so for full context, I took the Reds as a World
20:54Series future before the season, looking for a long, you know, shot.
20:58I wanted long odds if I was going to actually be willing to go against the Dodgers.
21:02And this team is impossibly frustrating.
21:05They have to have the worst record of any team in the history of baseball to go this
21:09long without being swept.
21:10Because realistically, what actually matters, you can get swept, sweep a team.
21:16They're the kings of the one and two.
21:18Like, again, usually great teams.
21:20It's like, listen, we take two out of three, two out of three.
21:22They're like, nope, one out of three.
21:24It is maddening to see this Cincinnati Reds team act this way.
21:29With that said, though, Joe, they've hung around all year.
21:33And it's really a matter of does a team fully collapse?
21:37It's like the Mets have had moments where it looked like it would be them.
21:41Maybe the Cubbies have had a moment.
21:42Is there still enough time for a Padres maybe to slump out of the playoffs?
21:48That's really the question because it doesn't look like Cincinnati at any point is going to
21:52hunt someone down.
21:54But they may be there with enough time to catch that falling knife and sneak into the
21:59National League.
22:00Yeah, I thought last night would have been a nice opportunity.
22:02You know, I had the pitcher on the mound.
22:03You should have knocked around she and she and dominates them.
22:06It's like, yeah, that's what you get on the Reds on a night-to-night basis.
22:08You never know what you're getting with the Reds.
22:09But let's keep it in the Queen City, the same city here of Cincinnati because I'm talking
22:14about that football team.
22:16Now that we have Trey Hendrickson left in the building, and I always love this.
22:19Give me this first because I want your vibe check on Cincinnati with now.
22:23Like, basically, everybody's in the fold, ready to go, pulling in the same direction
22:26for game number one.
22:28They played in the preseason.
22:29But also this.
22:30This saga isn't over with Trey Hendrickson, is it?
22:32Like, okay, well, we'll sign you.
22:33We'll give you the bump.
22:34You'll be a free agent next year.
22:35You tell me right now.
22:36Trey Hendrickson goes for 22 sacks.
22:38That's an NFL record in Cleveland.
22:39And Cincinnati goes, we made a deal with you last year.
22:42We won't tag you.
22:43Still tag him right upside the window and say, you'll come back at any price we like again,
22:46and you'll like it here.
22:47How does this end up with Trey Hendrickson and your vibes for Cincinnati now that everybody's
22:51in?
22:51Everybody's happy.
22:52Yeah, I think the thing, though, is, Donnie, this ends up actually a win for Cincinnati
22:56as so many of these situations seem to for the organization, because the fact that it's
23:02a one-year deal, if they would have ended up having to give him $37, $38 million, you
23:08would be able to justify it that, well, it's only a one-year deal, right?
23:13The fact that they get this guy outside of the top five in edge rusher money, and it's
23:20only a one-year deal.
23:21Look, some of the hesitation, not all of it, with Trey Hendrickson is his age, right?
23:26He'll be 31 in December.
23:28Compare that to Micah Parsons.
23:29That's a legitimate gap there.
23:32So, look, it's a fair point, DRS.
23:35Who knows what Cincinnati's going to do next offseason?
23:37But the thing is, a lot of it's going to be dictated by how good they are, right?
23:43Like, part of the reason they paid Chase and Higgins is how historic that offense felt last
23:48year.
23:48If this team misses the playoffs again, they may let Trey walk, but more importantly, they're
23:54going to be in the market for a brand-new head coach.
23:55Better protect Burrow, otherwise it doesn't make a difference what they do on defense
24:01in that spot, Kev.
24:03But let's be realistic here.
24:05Can we just all, from this point, promise each other that when a player in the offseason
24:12requests a trade, we immediately stop talking about, you know what would be a great trade
24:18because it's not happening, Walsh?
24:20McLaren also gets it done there for the commanders.
24:23And I think, listen, we all thought he was worth the money, and you should give it to
24:27him.
24:28Age was an issue with him, too, but he got the money.
24:32Sixth highest paid receiver now.
24:34Look, here's the deal.
24:36At this point, I would like for Woj to come out of retirement and dunk on the rest of these
24:40NFL reporters.
24:41A trade request means something in the NBA.
24:45When Giannis says, I'm out of here, he's out of there.
24:48When James Harden says he's gone and the organization's like, no, you're not, he's like, okay, guess
24:52what?
24:53I'm 45 pounds heavier.
24:54I've been eating at the Walsh house.
24:55And then he gets traded.
24:57So in the NFL, McLaren gets paid.
25:01And an hour later, Jacoby Myers goes, trade request.
25:06And your whole timeline.
25:09Well, no way Vegas gets rid of him this late in the game.
25:11I'm sure they'll work.
25:12Stop saying trade request.
25:14Stop.
25:14We need a new phrase, a new thing.
25:17Because we then go to the market.
25:19Hey, Terry McLaren.
25:22What could he bring to the table?
25:23Is this going to impact the Jaden Daniels markets?
25:26Is Debo Samuel?
25:27No.
25:28No.
25:29And the Micah Parsons one is like the closest one.
25:31But again, it just feels like Parsons is going to miss the opener.
25:36Does anybody actually think Micah Parsons isn't going to be a Dallas Cowboy?
25:41Not really.
25:41I'm telling you right now.
25:43I really think behind the scenes, months ago, they agreed to this deal and said, this is just better.
25:48I have a Netflix, you know, thing coming out here.
25:50Let's really string this through.
25:52You act like a fool.
25:53You're already paid.
25:54You know it.
25:54You don't have to practice all that much.
25:55Don't get yourself injured.
25:56And then by the time we get to a day before the game, or maybe game day, we signed the deal.
26:01Micah Parsons is in there.
26:02The perfect Jerry Jones story as this gets.
