00:00We're in eastern Ukraine with soldiers of the Karadakh Brigade.
00:05We're here to see their ground robots,
00:08remote-controlled vehicles that carry supplies to frontline positions, among other tasks.
00:14Commander Scrooge shows us the latest development.
00:18Right now we've got a Browning mounted on it, a heavy machine gun.
00:23You can also mount other weapons, like an automatic grenade launcher.
00:28It can defend a stretch of road, fire at vehicles, and even lead an attack.
00:35Just imagine it, a drone driving straight at you, trying to kill you.
00:41This is what it looks like.
00:44Footage from a similar device shows Russian soldiers surrendering to a Ukrainian robot.
00:50Today the robot is being sent to deliver supplies to the frontline, not capture soldiers.
00:58The first leg of the trip is done on a trailer.
01:02We ride along with the soldiers.
01:05A burnt-out truck shows Russia's ability to strike deep behind the lines.
01:10We're heading towards Kupiansk, where Ukrainian gangs have drawn in elite Russian-drawn reinforcements, a unit called Rubicon.
01:19They arrived a few days ago and now want to show us their work.
01:23This is how they try to exert psychological pressure on us.
01:27They're targeting everything right now.
01:29When we get to the launch spot, the men know the robot.
01:38So, the robot you see here is about to be sent on its way and it should arrive at its first destination at one of the frontline positions in about two hours.
01:46And that is if the Russians don't manage to spot it and take it out.
01:52Meanwhile, at a different part of the frontline.
01:55A vantage point that shows how Ukrainian drones are reshaping battlefield tactics.
02:01It's a choreography between machines in the air and soldiers on the ground.
02:07The drones transmit a live feed.
02:10Soldiers watch for incoming threats.
02:14They spot a car in the distance.
02:18It might be carrying ammunition.
02:20It might be supplies.
02:22The soldiers send a combat drone its way.
02:26The enemy can no longer get so close to us.
02:29We prepare our actions, push the enemy back, and create a two to three kilometer gray zone in front of our positions,
02:36so that the infantry doesn't have to enter direct combat.
02:42That's essential, because the frontline is too long to fully hold with human power.
02:49Within that frontline gray zone, at points Russians would have to pass to make progress,
02:54the Ukrainians have set up what they call kill zones.
02:58A kill zone is an area we deliberately set up, essentially a small pocket,
03:03where artillery is already aimed at, where our drones can reach them as well,
03:08and where the area is mined on our side.
03:15The cold slows Russia's offensive.
03:18Snow gives away movement.
03:20Troops stay underground in shelters.
03:23The only casualty today?
03:25A Russian Starlink device.
03:27Back with the ground robot, heading towards the front, under skies controlled by the Russians.
03:37The operator maneuvers it through a protective tunnel of nets for parts of the journey.
03:41He has to watch out for Russian FPV drones and mines.
03:45The robot is slower than a car and can carry less.
03:49But crucially, it's smaller and doesn't need a driver.
03:54If it were still done the way it used to be, only with vehicles,
03:59we would probably have neither people nor vehicles left.
04:02The chance of being detected is 100 percent.
04:07You set off, you're seen, and then an FPV drone hits.
04:14Nonetheless, soon after we leave, a Russian drone blows it up.
04:20The mission failed, but the soldiers will send another robot tomorrow.
04:24Most importantly, the only casualty was metal, not human.
04:29The whole body is remote.
04:34About half a picture of the
04:45The more in the jacket, it is a novice,
04:48but the other way the bandwidth rides are not to be permitted.
04:52The more in the jacket and the other way the weather can be delivered.
