Laser hair reduction is a powerful medical procedure. When the laser is emitted, it penetrates and targets the melanin in the hair root. The light energy gets absorbed by the pigment and converted to heat.

This heat then targets the stem cells in the hair follicle’s bulge area — the area responsible for hair regrowth. By destroying these stem cells, the hair follicle becomes permanently inactive. Hair has different growth phases:

✔ Anagen (active growth)
✔ Catagen (transition)
✔ Telogen (resting)

Laser hair reduction is generally safe for anyone above 18 years of age. It can be done on any part of the body, for both men and women. However, if you have underlying conditions like PCOD, thyroid issues, or hormonal imbalances, it’s best to address those first with a doctor before starting laser treatment.

00:00Hello everyone, I'm going to talk about laser hair reduction.
00:03So, we have our conventional methods of hair removal.
00:06Threading, waxing, and use of hair removal creams.
00:09There are certain side effects here.
00:11So, basically, hair removal creams are a lot of chemicals that you can apply to your skin.
00:15You can tend to develop rashes.
00:18And with waxing, you can have rashes, ingrown hair growth.
00:22And also, there might be peeling of skin.
00:24So, if you compare this, laser hair reduction is a safer option.
00:29So, we will see what laser hair reduction is.
00:33So, it's a permanent laser hair reduction.
00:36And it's not laser hair removal.
00:39If you say permanent, what is not hair removal?
00:44So, basically, what is happening here?
00:47In one session, you will get results in multiple sessions.
00:51That's what I am going to explain.
00:53So, basically, a laser emits.
00:56If you look at the hair follicle, you will absorb the laser.
01:01So, when you absorb the hair follicle in the hair follicle, you will absorb the laser.
01:06The laser energy is getting converted to heat energy.
01:09So, the heat energy, what is happening?
01:11Lateral dissipation.
01:13That's what is happening.
01:14So, if you look at the hair follicle in the hair follicle, it's a bulge region.
01:22In that region, you will target the heat energy.
01:25So, basically, we are targeting the hair follicle and it's permanently destructed.
01:32So, if you look at the hair follicle, it's a growing phase.
01:38That's the anagen phase.
01:40So, our hair is at a point of time or stage.
01:44That's the anagen phase.
01:46Let's say the catagen or the telogen phase.
01:48That's the resting phase and falling phase.
01:50So, if you absorb the laser hair effectively, it's anagen phase.
01:56The telogen and the catagen hair will absorb the laser effectively.
02:00That's why it is required to come in multiple sessions.
02:03So, if you look at the laser hair reduction session,
02:06if you look at the particular percentage of hair in the anagen phase,
02:09we might have targeted those hairs.
02:11So, in the next session,
02:13the telogen and catagen hair will have transformed the anagen hair.
02:17So, in every session, we are targeting an anagen hair.
02:21If you look at laser hair reduction,
02:22if you look at laser hair reduction,
02:24if you look at laser hair reduction,
02:26it's usually 18 years old.
02:28It's a very safe procedure to get it done.
02:30It can be done on any area on the body.
02:32Even males also can get it done.
02:34So, if you look at males,
02:35it's a thick and thick hair.
02:38It's a very safe procedure to get laser hair reduction done.
02:40If you look at laser hair reduction done,
02:41and if you look at both of them,
02:43it's called Unibrow.
02:45So, if you look at laser hair reduction,
02:47even the hair in the nostrils,
02:49if you look at the name of Velila,
02:51it's like cosmetically appealing.
02:54Even that,
02:55you can do permanent laser hair reduction.
02:57And for females,
02:58it's safer to do on any parts of the body,
03:00including their private parts.
03:02In the laser hair reduction,
03:03there's no problem internally,
03:05just in the body hair and face,
03:08if you look at laser hair reduction in the face,
03:10you'll be able to do laser hair reduction.
03:12Whereas, if you have some internal problem,
03:14there's an internal trigger for a patient,
03:16for example,
03:17there's a PCOD problem,
03:18there's irregular periods,
03:20there's a lot of acne in the face,
03:22there's a lot of acne in the face,
03:24there's a lot of thick hair.
03:25You have to consult a gynecologist
03:26as well as a dermatologist.
03:28So, if you have white hair,
03:30if you want to do laser with that white hair,
03:32I'm going to say,
03:33if you want to absorb the chromophore
03:35that laser hair follicle in the laser,
03:38it's a melanin pigment.
03:40It can either be brown or black in colour.
03:42If you want to do that,
03:43I'm going to do laser work.
03:45Once it has completely turned white,
03:47in the laser work,
03:48for that, you have to go for a procedure called,
03:50Electrolysis.
03:51Please make sure you get it done
03:53from both certified dermatologists.
03:54It's a relatively safer procedure
03:56when compared to all other conventional methods.
03:58And please be careful in choosing your doctor.
