00:00Here's how the Supreme Court has changed how Delhi treats stray dogs. First, let's take a look at
00:07five highlights from the August 22 order. All stray dogs in Delhi NCR shall be taken to
00:11designated shelters within eight weeks. Stray dogs need to be vaccinated and released in the
00:15same area they were picked up from. Aggressive dogs and those with rabies are not to be released.
00:19Stray dogs cannot be fed on the roads. The court ordered the MCD to create designated feeding
00:23spaces. The court allowed animal lovers to make applications for the adoption of stray dogs. A
00:27three-judge bench of justices Vikram Nath, Sandeep Mehta and N.V. Anjaria were reviewing an earlier
00:32order by the court which directed authorities to catch and confine all stray dogs in Delhi NCR.
00:37But the August 8 order by the Justice Pardewala-led bench sparked massive outrage. The case was later
00:41reassigned to the three-judge bench by the Chief Justice in a rare move. The Supreme Court also
00:45said it would transfer to itself similar petitions pending in other high courts to formulate a
00:49national level policy on the issue.
