00:00UMNO veteran Tajuddin Abdulrahman is ready to face Lim Guaneng in court to defend his
00:05claim that the DAP advisor turned the finance ministry into a Chinese temple during his
00:10tenure as minister.
00:12Speaking to FMT, Tajuddin confirmed being notified about the suit several days ago and
00:16said he will see the Bagan MP in court.
00:19He also questioned the timing of the suit as the remarks were alleged to have been made
00:23in 2022 and quipped that perhaps Lim has nothing to do now that he was no longer a minister
00:28or a top leader in DAP.
00:31In his defamation suit, Lim said that on October 18, 2022, Tajuddin took part in a forum organized
00:37by Sina Harian which focused on the 15th general election.
00:41He claimed that Tajuddin had accused him of sidelighting the Malays during his tenure as
00:45the finance minister from 2018 to 2020 and further alleging that he had turned the ministry
00:50into a Chinese temple.
00:53Lim said Tajuddin had implied that he had carried out his ministerial duties recklessly and was
00:57unfit to hold public office and added that this also gave the impression he had abused
01:02his power by dismissing Malays civil servants from the treasury.
01:05The former Penang chief minister is seeking damages, a retraction of the impugned remarks,
01:10and a public apology to be published on Tajuddin's social media accounts as well as in the media.
