Venezuela and some of its allies in the region have denounced U.S Navy destroyers being deployed in the waters off Venezuela.

00:00The new UNCLAD government did not issue any statement as of Newstime on Thursday about reports from U.S. media outlets such as Reuters and the LA Times that the U.S. has ordered an amphibious squadron to the region as part of the deployment of three U.S.-guided missile destroyers that will carry 4,500 service members, including 2,200 Marines, and could arrive as early as Sunday.
00:27However, on the Facebook page of Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro, a statement from the Bolivian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America People's Trade Treaty, or ALBA-TCP, denouncing U.S. Navy destroyers being deployed in the waters of Venezuela.
00:44The Express newspaper is reporting that the ALBA-TCP virtual meeting saw Honduras participating as a guest, and that the meeting was hosted from Caracas and brought together heads-up state and representatives from Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua, as well as CARICOM member states Antigua and Barbuda, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Dominica, Grenada, and St. Lucia.
01:06ALBA-TCP demanded the immediate cessation of what it called any military threat or action violating the territorial integrity and political independence of the states of Latin America and the Caribbean.
01:18CARICOM member states and Venezuela's closest Caribbean neighbor, Trinidad and Tobago, is not a member of ALBA-TCP.
01:26Trinidad and Tobago has downstanding political and economic ties with both the United States and Venezuela.
01:31The White House spokesperson has said that U.S. President Donald Trump is prepared to use every element of American power to stop drugs from flooding into the U.S.
01:41and reiterated U.S. policy that the, quote, Maduro regime is not the legitimate government of Venezuela, end quote.
01:49Comments have been attributed to Venezuela's defense minister on social media for warning to Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana
01:55against providing any support to the U.S. deployment of naval assets in international waters near Venezuela.
02:02However, there has been no official statement of confirmation from Venezuela's government.
