Head chef of North on the Seaburn restaurant making it into the Good Food Guide's Top 100 Local Restaurants in the UK
Transcript
00:00Lee, fantastic news that North is in the Good Food Guide top 100 local restaurants in the country.
00:07The only one in Sunderland to be in the top 100 list. How did you feel when you heard that news?
00:12Yeah, buzzing. Really happy, happy for the team, for myself, for the city as well.
00:18Yeah, really happy.
00:20And how do you find inspiration for the menus here?
00:23Well, we look out at the sea, seasonal, what's available, Mother Nature, yeah.
00:32And the food scene in Sunderland is really improving, isn't it?
00:35Yeah, it is. There's a few heavyweights coming in now, so yeah, pretty good.
00:41What kind of feedback do you get from the food here?
00:44Yeah, all really positive. Most people are really happy to have something local to them now,
00:50rather than having to travel a bit further afield to get some tops drawn.
00:54And it must be an incredible place to work. I mean, you look out onto the North Sea every day.
00:59It's literally the best view I've ever had. And if I ever get sad, I just look out the window. Brilliant.
01:04Is there any kind of top dishes, like ones that are most popular?
01:07Yeah, we sell a lot of scallops in here and a lot of prawns. People love prawns and scallops.
01:14I guess bookings have been there, have increased since you won this award?
01:19They have, yeah, yeah. Busy. Busy, busy.
