00:00Everton are into the new Premier League season with a renewed sense of optimism after a transfer
00:08window that came into life in its latter stages and the stadium move complete. David Moyes back
00:15in charge at the dugout endured a patient wait through much of the summer as early targets proved
00:22difficult to secure but late business provided a welcomed boost with signings designed to add
00:28depth experience and energy required to refresh a squad that has shown signs of fatigue in recent
00:34campaigns. If Moyes can quickly blend his new arrivals with the existing core the Toffees have
00:40the potential to re-establish themselves comfortably in mid-table and even push towards the top half.
00:47For more insight into Everton's summer we spoke to Will Rooney of Liverpool World who explained that
00:54there's a big chance that the Toffees can produce some big moments throughout the campaign.
01:02Yeah I mean in terms of Everton's sort of overhaul in terms of outgoings this summer it's been quite a
01:08fair number but also if you look throughout the squad now there's way more sort of numbers like 22 or 24
01:16those sort of younger age across the entire squad. You've obviously got Idrissa Gay at 35 and
01:23Michael Keane, Tarkovsky, Pickford experienced heads but suddenly after this summer there is some younger
01:30players coming through. I mean this is only really positive for David Moyes he's got the experience but
01:36he's got some younger talent as well coming through. Who do you think can maybe stand out in terms of
01:41your sort of breakout campaign? Obviously we touched before on Nathan Paterson and Jake O'Brien
01:48as well. They had fantastic sort of seasons when they had to last season but there may be a bit less
01:54pressure on them this year.
01:55Well Nathan Paterson's a funny one because I don't actually think David Moyes quite fancies him. To be
02:04quite frank he has has a mixed bag in pre-season he's actually been assessed for a hernia but
02:11yeah I think Jake O'Brien will be will be the starting the starting right back there
02:17which it's not ideal if you still want to get a right back in because O'Brien is
02:22a centre back by trade but he did well when Moyes came in as you say. He could really kick on again
02:32this season. I think you're looking at someone like a James Garner, what can he go and do this
02:39season? Can he really kick on because he's shown ability obviously come through the ranks at Man
02:44Unitas but his Evan career has stuttered somewhat, injuries haven't helped. Tiano Barry still is only 22
02:54so it'll be interesting to see see his developments. A lot of eyes on Harrison Armstrong, the 18 year old
03:00midfielder. You would like to think that he will go out on loan once Evan get more bodies through the
03:06through the door because he needs to play week in week out. There's the temptation to keep him around
03:13the squad because he will be a real asset and he will learn every day but I think he'd be better from
03:19from playing every week and say maybe for Timur Abunum as well who has shown glimpses but
03:28where is his best position? I still don't know where his best position is in that midfield and
03:33and Yusef Chimiti as well has caught the eye last summer in pre-season but he had injuries
03:41then and he hasn't done too much during the current pre-season so yeah there's Dan and of course
03:49Adam Asnu who's 19 he's brought in from Bayern Munich. He has a real high ceiling I think because
03:58look just because Bayern Munich have sold them um it doesn't mean that he can't really go and kick
04:03on and be a real top player you know you look at some of the full backs in the premier league
04:07E-Rand, E-Rabunum and the court started bad he's another youngster he's 22-23 maybe he's just
04:14a little bit older and but it'll be interesting to see how he develops and as I say James Garner has
04:19got a real pivotal season for me I think he's into the last year his contract potentially so
04:24is he going to go and earn himself a new deal at Everton because there is a lot of potential there
04:30a lot of qualities that that can add something but a lack of consistency and seeing in injuries
04:37have meant his Everton career has been a little bit stunning
