00:00When it comes to bullshit, I've got natural immunity.
00:03Lord Sugar is on the hunt for a brand new business partner.
00:07You don't get furloughed, you get fired.
00:10Fighting it out for his funding, 16 ambitious entrepreneurs.
00:19It's a deal worth fighting for.
00:22Have we got you all in?
00:23Just from that angle.
00:24Okay, you guys.
00:25There's some shit going down in here.
00:27It's not quite there yet.
00:28Let's go, let's go.
00:2916 candidates.
00:30You're very sharp.
00:3112 tough tasks.
00:33You don't know what you're bloody doing.
00:35This product is garbage.
00:37One life-changing opportunity.
00:39You're fired.
00:40You're fired.
00:41You messed it up.
00:43You're fired.
00:52Previously.
00:53It's time to find out if your business plans stack up.
00:57Candidates were cross-examined.
00:59Do you want to have 100 stores or do you want to have three stores?
01:03I guess.
01:04You're making this up as you go along now.
01:06No, Mike.
01:07It's been done before.
01:08You know why you haven't heard of it?
01:10Because it ain't a hit.
01:11Proposals picked apart.
01:13What do you end up with?
01:14What do you end up with?
01:15A loss of nearly a quarter of a million quid.
01:17This is the rantings of a lunatic.
01:19You haven't made it happen here to convince me.
01:21It's a pipe dream with no substance.
01:24In the boardroom, judgement day.
01:27You have no experience in manufacturing.
01:29Brittany's alcoholic protein drink turned sour.
01:32I can't for the laugh of me work out why you've decided that you wanted to go in this direction.
01:37Brittany, you're fired.
01:39And Stephanie's clothing company didn't cut it.
01:42You've underestimated the business that you want to go into.
01:46So Stephanie, you're fired.
01:48Now Harpreet and Catherine go head to head.
01:51Oh my God!
01:53We did it.
01:54I can't believe it.
01:56Who will win Lord Sugar's investment?
02:066am.
02:10Hello?
02:11Good morning.
02:12Lord Sugar would like to meet you at the British Museum in central London.
02:16The cars will be outside in 30 minutes.
02:20For the finalists.
02:21The British Museum.
02:23One last task.
02:27If I won the investment, this would absolutely change my life.
02:31It would honestly mean the world to me.
02:37I really feel that I have been able to showcase my skills throughout this process
02:42and I've been consistent since day one.
02:44I really hope that Lord Sugar will see the opportunity in both me and my business.
02:49In the heart of Bloomsbury, the British Museum.
03:09Iconic landmark and starting point for Lord Sugar's final showdown.
03:14Good morning ladies.
03:28Good morning Lord Sugar.
03:30Welcome to the British Museum.
03:33This museum was founded as the first free public museum.
03:37with the aims of bringing the wonders of the world to the masses.
03:42At the end of this process, I want to see that your business has the same mass appeal.
03:49Now only one of you can receive my £250,000 investment.
03:55And this is your last opportunity to convince me that that person should be you.
04:00So for this task, I would like you to launch your new business.
04:05You need to create a new brand for your company, produce a digital billboard and a television advert.
04:12In a few days time, you'll pitch your new business to me and leading industry experts.
04:18And afterwards, we'll be meeting in the boardroom where one of you will become my new business partner.
04:26So there's a lot to do and I've arranged some help.
04:29Welcome back ladies and gentlemen.
04:47So, I'm going to toss a coin now.
04:50Harpreet, heads or tails?
04:52Heads Lord Sugar.
04:54Heads it is.
04:56So, Harpreet, choose one of these people.
05:00Um, Brittany, please get over here.
05:03Catherine, choose...
05:05Stephanie.
05:09I'm going to go Akshay.
05:14Amy.
05:17Nick, please.
05:21Akeem.
05:26Navig, please.
05:33Harry, I was going to choose you anyway.
05:36Say the best of last. Thank you very much.
05:38There you go.
05:40Now, Catherine, pyjamas is a crowded market.
05:44So you need to prove to me that your new business can stand out and that you can create a unique and memorable brand.
05:50And Harpreet, you have your dessert company.
05:54But I need convincing that this is a scalable business.
05:57Everything clear?
05:59Yes, Lord Sugar.
06:00Well, good luck. I'll see you in a few days' time. Off you go.
06:03Three days to prove that plans can become successful start-ups.
06:10Welcome back, everyone. It's so lovely to see you all.
06:13Getting a taste of her ambitions.
06:15This is a cookie burrito.
06:17It comes as a huge slab. People love it.
06:19Harpreet's team.
06:21Why don't you guys dig in and have a little try, let me know what you think.
06:24So, basically, I have two dessert parlours at the moment.
06:27These are much sort of naughty desserts, chocolate, cookies.
06:30This is literally so good.
06:32I know Lord Sugar wanted to make sure that this is scalable.
06:35There are competitors out there.
06:37One of the biggest other dessert brands has nearly 100 dessert parlours across the country.
06:42There is no reason that I can't do that with my brand. It's ready to go.
06:45Arpreet, I don't want to be over the top, but that is the best cookie I've ever had in my entire life.
06:53Across the hall...
06:55My business is matching pyjamas for the whole family.
06:58Putting her recruits in the picture.
07:00Katherine.
07:02That includes mum, dad, children, babies and dogs.
07:07Mm-hm.
07:08You don't get a lot of matching dog PJs on the market at the moment.
07:12Does every print come for the whole family?
07:14So, the answer to that is no.
07:16With the new collection, which is the jungle theme, it is very on-trend and also it's kind of quite unisex and that would be for...
07:24So, only certain collections?
07:25There would be certain collections.
07:26I see.
07:27So, Lord Sugar's concern here is there's a lot of pyjama brands out there, so I need to show it's matching and with dogs because this is what's setting me apart from my competitors.
07:36Yes.
07:38I've been thinking of the feeling that you get when you eat something delicious.
07:42Brainstorming a name for her dessert brand.
07:44Maybe something like yum or scrumptious are really words that scream out to me.
07:49Harpreet seeks suggestions.
07:51What are your thoughts, guys?
07:53That's good.
07:54What about using names such as Hyper Joy?
07:57Like, because obviously, because the sweet gives you like hype, it makes you hyper.
08:01Yeah.
08:02Parents feeding their children may not want them to get hyper.
08:05Another one on the yums is like ultimate yums.
08:09Can we skip that one?
08:10Treat Heaven.
08:11Treat Heaven.
08:12Can we skip that one?
08:13Dessert stop.
08:14Can we skip that one?
08:16Add crumble because sort of apple crumble like just crumbles of a doughnut.
08:21Scrumptious melt.
08:23Mmm.
08:25OK.
08:26Let me come back to it.
08:27Let's think on that and let's think about what we need to achieve for the day.
08:30Pajamaly.
08:35Pajamaly?
08:36Oh, I love that.
08:37Pajamaly.
08:38I like it.
08:39For Katherine, name pinned down.
08:41Yeah, so it's literally mixing pajamas and family and that's what my USP is.
08:46Next, decide who does what.
08:49Digital billboard.
08:50Amy, I know you've got experience in directing and films.
08:53Yeah.
08:54So I have you in that team along with Harry and Akeem.
08:56What's the message?
08:57What's the emotion?
08:58It's basically the USP, which is matching.
09:00It's like matching PJs for the whole family.
09:02It is.
09:03But revolving around one person in this particular billboard.
09:07I mean, if you're going to put a thing on there, I'd put matching pajamas for all, not for a family.
09:11I would say the whole room.
09:12Correct.
09:13Yeah, because if it's matching, then there needs to be two people.
09:15Yeah, that's my point.
09:16So that is our USP.
09:17That's what's setting me out for my competitors.
09:19So that has to come across in the digital billboard and obviously we'll be working on that as well.
09:23OK.
09:25Whipping her team into shape.
09:27Brittany, I would like you to come onto the branding team with me.
09:30Dessert parlour boss, Harpreet.
09:32Guys, I would love to trust you guys with the digital billboard.
09:36Actually, I'm going to put you in charge.
09:38No problem.
09:39I'm sure all of you will work well as a team.
09:40Yeah, yeah.
09:41And in terms of the branding, everyone knows that a dessert parlour has sweet things.
09:44Fine, cool, waffles, crepes.
09:46But let's sell the emotion and the feeling, the Instagrammable element of it.
09:50OK.
09:51It's a cool brand.
09:52You want to be seen eating there.
09:53You want to order it.
09:54You want to gift it.
09:55You want to be involved.
09:56It looks cool.
09:57OK.
09:58Right, should we go?
09:59Let's go.
10:00OK.
10:01Midday.
10:02Half the team head off to create digital screens.
10:08Let's do it for Harpreet.
10:10Let's absolutely smash the daylights out of this task and make sure she wins that 250k.
10:16Yeah.
10:17100%.
10:18Obviously, team Harpreet till the end.
10:19Let's go.
10:20Let's smash this and let's get this ball rolling.
10:23Let's get it.
10:25The finalists will build brands.
10:29Can I be completely honest?
10:30I am extremely nervous to leave them to go out on their own in the big wide world and carry such an important element of the task.
10:37I've left them with no babysitter.
10:39I know.
10:40And that concerns me hugely.
10:43Central London.
10:46Location for both digital teams.
10:49Hi.
10:50Hi there.
10:51First job for Navid, Nick and Akshay.
10:54So we need to really tell the story of what the product is, what the brand is.
10:58Cook up a winning concept to sell desserts.
11:01Right, boys.
11:02So the vision for our billboard is to have a camera that angles through the desserts, shows the variety.
11:07And we're going to have one of you actors.
11:09We're going to do an audition to see who has the best reaction.
11:12Ready?
11:13Three, two, one, go.
11:15One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
11:23Nine, ten.
11:24Interesting.
11:25Okay.
11:26Let's see how you do it.
11:27I want you to basically see you've had the best dessert, okay?
11:30Right?
11:31Fine.
11:32Okay, go.
11:33One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten.
11:40Okay, nice one.
11:41I'll go with you because I thought it was good.
11:44But I think we can still make it better.
11:45Okay.
11:46I think you can help him directly.
11:47Yeah, yeah, definitely.
11:48What takes us should be popping.
11:49What's that?
11:50Popping?
11:51Popping.
11:52Popping like amazing.
11:53Do you know what I mean?
11:54Start popping over there when we start filming now.
11:55Right.
11:56Hey.
11:57What do you think?
11:58Whoa.
11:59You guys look amazing.
12:00Ta-da.
12:01Pushing pyjamas for Catherine's digital poster.
12:03Do we look like husband and wife?
12:04You look like husband and wife.
12:05Yeah.
12:06You're ready.
12:07Harry, Amy, and Akeem.
12:10One, two, three, four, five, six.
12:15Right, no.
12:16Ooh, that was good.
12:17The last one.
12:18You look awkward.
12:19Happy.
12:20Bit of movement as well.
12:21Yeah.
12:22That's it.
12:23That's it.
12:24Look happy, guys.
12:25Chemistry.
12:26You're a couple.
12:27I want to see chemistry.
12:28One, two, three, four.
12:29No, guys, guys, guys.
12:30Okay, let me show you.
12:31Let me show you.
12:32Heads together.
12:33Heads together.
12:34That's it.
12:35Look like he's in chemistry.
12:36You know, chemistry.
12:37I want to see chemistry.
12:38I'm going to hang this to you with my left hand.
12:39Okay.
12:40All right, gotcha.
12:41Akeem's acting skills and Amy's were very lacklustre.
12:44I was trying to direct them, but I thought Amy had experience as an actress in her previous roles.
12:48You know, it was really hard at work for myself.
12:50Six, seven.
12:51It looks awkward.
12:52I need a kiss.
12:53You guys are a couple.
12:54That's it.
12:55It's a peck on the cheek.
12:56All right, all right.
12:57It's a peck on the cheek.
12:58Cool.
12:59Ready?
13:00Next door.
13:01Action.
13:02Enjoy the cakes.
13:03Next one.
13:04Two.
13:05Careful.
13:06Next one.
13:07Next one.
13:08Don't touch it yet.
13:09Other one.
13:10Cast as cake tester Navid.
13:11Go.
13:12One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
13:17Okay.
13:18I don't like it.
13:19All you got to do is pick that cake up.
13:22Ready?
13:23Pick it up.
13:24Show it to the camera.
13:25Hold up.
13:26Hold up.
13:27Hold up.
13:28And now eat it.
13:29Careful.
13:30Wait, wait, wait.
13:31Now eat it.
13:32Yeah.
13:33Now.
13:34Like that.
13:35Yeah.
13:36Eat it and show it.
13:37Okay.
13:38Just a shot.
13:39Just a shot of you eating a cake.
13:40Seven.
13:41Eight.
13:42Oh.
13:43Okay.
13:44That didn't work at all.
13:46All Navid had to do was show an expression, eat the cake, show it to the camera.
13:52I genuinely thought it wasn't a hard thing to do.
13:54Like this.
13:55Like this.
13:56Nav, I'm thinking.
13:57Shall I just do it?
13:58Okay.
13:59Okay.
14:00Okay.
14:01Like this.
14:02Three.
14:03Four.
14:04Five.
14:05Pick one up.
14:06Six.
14:07Seven.
14:08Eight.
14:09Nine.
14:10Ten.
14:11Yes.
14:141pm.
14:15Design agency, Isabel.
14:17Let's go with oh so yum.
14:19Perfect.
14:20Laboring over a logo for her brand, Harpreet.
14:24Would we be able to try with more of a bubbly font instead?
14:28Oh, that's, see, that's better to me.
14:31Or is it too much?
14:32I think so.
14:33What do you think of that one, Brittany?
14:34Over there.
14:35Is it weird?
14:36Mm-hmm.
14:37Is it quirky, weird?
14:38Maybe I'm not sure about that yum now.
14:40I just feel like that looks basic, Brittany.
14:43Don't forget, like, social media vibes.
14:45Yeah.
14:46Is that cool?
14:47Not really.
14:48Yeah.
14:49I like that.
14:50I like that.
14:51Brittany, please sense check that logo.
14:52Is the oh so too big?
14:53Is the yum too big?
14:54I don't want to be leading myself into this blind road.
14:57I think the pressure's getting to Harpreet.
15:01She's normally very decisive, but now she's that close
15:04to getting this £250,000 investment,
15:07and I think that's making it difficult for her to see clearly.
15:10Britt, you know where it says oh so?
15:11Does that immediately read oh so to you,
15:13or does it read, like, some kind of Japanese furniture brand?
15:16No, it reads oh so.
15:18So we've got a man, a lady, a child, and then, like, holding a dog.
15:24Also looking at a logo, Catherine.
15:27Could you just make the mouth more like this
15:29and then put the tongue coming out?
15:31I was just going to make the heart smaller
15:33and we can put it next to the pyjama Lee.
15:34Yeah.
15:35Cool, thank you.
15:36And then in line with the pyjama Lee.
15:38Oh, I'm really liking this.
15:39Yes.
15:40Perfect.
15:41OK, can we have a cream background inside the heart
15:43and then make the silhouette, like, inside the silhouette,
15:46deep blue, please.
15:47Could you put the inside of the dog and the person...
15:49and the child cream, please, but keep the outliners blue?
15:52Oh, I think this is going to look good.
15:54Yeah, I do as well.
15:56Lord Sugar has asked Catherine to create a brand
15:58which stands out in a very crowded market.
16:00It's basically stick people in a heart with a dog.
16:03What's that got to do with matching pyjamas?
16:05I think that looks fab.
16:105pm.
16:11Creative agency Atomic.
16:14Yeah, it's looking good.
16:15Yeah.
16:16Looking...
16:17No, that wasn't good, no.
16:18Picking out the perfect take for the poster.
16:21No, no, can't.
16:23Oh, God.
16:24Nick, Navid and Akshay.
16:28Are you getting worried there's no good clips so far?
16:30Can you imagine all the hard work?
16:32Mrs Nav's...
16:33No, no, no, no, can't use that.
16:35Oh, here we go.
16:36Let's see.
16:37Nick's going to have to come in and save the day.
16:40I like this so far.
16:43Oh, I like that.
16:44Yeah.
16:45I like this one.
16:46I do like, oh.
16:47Can you imagine?
16:48Four stars.
16:49Nick, I like your expressions.
16:51And now you honestly did so well.
16:52But Nick, you've got the job.
16:53Yes.
16:54All done, right?
16:55Yes.
16:56Bye-bye.
17:01For the other team...
17:02Ooh.
17:03I'm not sensing much warmth.
17:05Are you guys?
17:06The big reveal of Catherine's logo.
17:09It reminds me of a horror movie.
17:12Yeah, I'm surprised.
17:13Exorcist.
17:16Exorcist.
17:17Exorcist.
17:18It doesn't feel very warm and cosy to me,
17:21like the pyjamas that we talked about
17:23and how lovely and cosy they are.
17:26There's no colour in it.
17:27I don't understand the people in the heart.
17:31Putting the finishing touches to their billboard...
17:34So let's do one thing then.
17:35Let's make this a little bit smaller.
17:37Yeah.
17:38Navid, Nick and Aksha.
17:40Yeah?
17:41And we can stick a hashtag here.
17:43Yeah.
17:44On the top right.
17:45I'm really liking this.
17:46Yeah, but I don't want it to be just black.
17:48So I think we should just change colour, period.
17:50Navid.
17:51Yeah.
17:52I think cos it's too much black cos the whole point is colour.
17:55We have got an element of colour, like...
17:57We're targeting all age groups,
17:58so think about that as well.
17:59We've got the logo as well.
18:00That logo is popping.
18:02Job done.
18:03Yeah, I like it.
18:04You like it?
18:05You like it?
18:06I like it, but I'm just worried about how pretty
18:07she doesn't like the colour.
18:08That's the only concern I've got.
18:126pm.
18:13I think Catherine would like it.
18:14Screen signed off.
18:15Thanks again.
18:16Thank you very much.
18:17Really, thank you very much.
18:18Logos locked down.
18:19Awesome.
18:21Thanks.
18:22Thank you for the help.
18:23For both teams...
18:24Back to the house.
18:308am.
18:31Good morning, everyone.
18:32Good morning.
18:33How are you all?
18:34Very good.
18:35Good.
18:36For Harpreet...
18:37Should we have a look at this billboard?
18:39Yeah, let's look at it, yeah.
18:40..a first peek at her digital poster.
18:48Um...
18:49Brittany, what do you think of it?
18:51Um, I wish that the cakes, like, were more in focus.
18:54I get your point.
18:56You could have potentially done is like a quick swivel
18:58of all the desserts and then Nick eating them.
19:01Yeah.
19:02Only the thing is, obviously, Nick,
19:03you look like a very smart businessman.
19:04We probably missed the trick there,
19:05because when Nav was doing it, he had an apron on, actually.
19:08But I literally just sat down, did one quickly,
19:11almost to show you how it was and then...
19:13I just got the vibe that you were, like, on your lunch break.
19:17My only concerns with the digital billboard
19:19are that we do only show cakes and brownies
19:21and we're not just a cake shop.
19:23And also, Nick is just a little too smart
19:26and I want to show that this is a place
19:28that's suitable for everybody.
19:30Next door...
19:32We had to do it all in one take.
19:34Yeah.
19:35..the premiere of Pajamaly.
19:37I guess the only thing I would potentially say
19:39is the pyjamas don't quite pop, perhaps,
19:42as much as it would... I would like them to.
19:44We wanted simple and plain
19:46because the star of the show is the pyjamas.
19:49Yeah.
19:50So, Steph and I were working on the logo yesterday.
19:53We walked away really, really happy with what we'd done.
19:56Yeah, so...
19:58We just felt, overall, the branding felt a bit cold and corporate.
20:03We thought, oh, the navy blue,
20:05it doesn't really lend itself to warm and cosy.
20:08I understand the kind of constructive criticism.
20:11And at the end of the day, this is Catherine's vision.
20:12This is what she wants, it's not about us.
20:14So I feel like it's really important for all of us
20:16to just get on board with that.
20:18So, Nick, you come into the cafe,
20:20goes up to the counter and orders something.
20:22Yeah.
20:23Today, both teams will shoot TV ads...
20:25And then, two minutes later,
20:27he goes up again and orders something else and comes back.
20:30OK.
20:31..to promote proposed businesses.
20:33As you keep coming back for more,
20:35your reaction's even more like,
20:36oh, my God, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, every single time, OK?
20:39So, whilst this ad is playing,
20:41Brittany's come up with, like, a really cool play on words.
20:43Do you want me to read it out?
20:44Yeah.
20:45Um, welcome to the world of oh, so yum,
20:47for the best desserts than this way come.
20:49Delicious peanut butter stack will keep you always coming back.
20:52Of course.
20:53So, when she says delicious peanut butter stack,
20:54that's the dessert that you're biting into.
20:56Yeah. Yeah?
20:57And then we move on.
20:58What do you guys think?
20:59No, happy with it.
21:00No, I think so.
21:01Happy with the concept.
21:02I see where they're coming from with the advert idea.
21:04The only concern for me is a lack of humour
21:06and perhaps engagement,
21:07so that's going to fall on my shoulders to really bring it to life
21:10and I think I can do it.
21:11I'm going to do a little bit of a swap today, OK?
21:13I'm going to ask Brittany to go over with Nick and Akshay
21:17to go and produce this ad.
21:19Yeah.
21:20Setting out her sleepwear ad...
21:22We're going to film it in the house
21:24because we feel that, why wouldn't we?
21:26It's a beautiful home.
21:27Katherine.
21:28We've got Akeem sat down on the sofa
21:31sipping on a coffee.
21:33Amy, you then walk in with croissants and sit down next to him.
21:36Akeem gets the gift box from the side of the sofa
21:39and presents this to Amy.
21:40Amy opens the gift box and realises
21:43there's something inside with also like a note
21:46which will say,
21:47can't wait to meet you, love from pickle.
21:50With like a paw print.
21:51Oh, I love it.
21:53You then hold up the dog pyjamas
21:55and you're really, really excited.
21:57And then the new scene is you all together
22:00taking a photo with the dog in the pyjamas.
22:02And we're taking a selfie in the bed
22:04with the dog in the pyjamas.
22:05Like, how about we finish here?
22:06Yeah.
22:07Okay.
22:08That's what it is.
22:09Yeah, so we'll be like sitting upright.
22:10Yeah.
22:11The product placement.
22:12Yeah.
22:13How do we do that?
22:14I'm really confident with my ability
22:16in shooting and editing and producing a commercial.
22:19Katherine will be thrilled
22:20when she sees the final product.
22:22All right, so any questions?
22:23No.
22:24Don't worry.
22:25Good luck today, guys.
22:26Bye-bye.
22:27See you later.
22:289am.
22:32Half of each team head off to create commercials
22:36while the finalists produce prototype products.
22:40We get to go and design some pyjamas.
22:42I know.
22:43How are you feeling?
22:44This is my brand.
22:45This is what I'm trying to sell.
22:47So I need to get this right
22:48because this is what Lord Sugar's going to see.
22:50So I am feeling the pressure.
22:53North London.
22:55Katherine's pyjama ad.
22:57So you've got to keep track in a notebook
22:59of what we're shooting when.
23:00Okay.
23:01Wrestling for creative control.
23:02So time code, like 837, shooting.
23:05When we start.
23:06Okay, cool.
23:07Okay, great.
23:08Amy and Harry.
23:10Action.
23:11Okay.
23:14And then I would pull out the note.
23:16Where's the note?
23:17Harry, cut.
23:18I like that.
23:19Where's the note?
23:20The note is here.
23:21Could you write it out?
23:22No.
23:23Write it out, please.
23:24And I'll watch back that.
23:25Cool.
23:27Okay, cool.
23:28So boom, boom, boom, boom.
23:29Can I write it?
23:30Sorry.
23:31Just because it looks so small and I feel like...
23:32No, no.
23:33This is not to scale.
23:34I'll just do it.
23:35Okay, I just think I can do it in one second.
23:36Okay, so let's do it again.
23:37But when you're rolling...
23:41Cut.
23:42No.
23:43I like that.
23:44No, you don't tell him to cut.
23:45We didn't hug, Harry.
23:46No, no.
23:47I don't want you guys to hug.
23:48The point is I want to see his reaction.
23:49We have to get the whole thing and then we can always edit it in the edit.
23:51You know, cut it short in the edit.
23:52Let the whole thing happen.
23:53Harry is just more of a hindrance than being helpful.
23:57Everything I've told him to do so far, he's either made a mess of it or just didn't get
24:02done.
24:03I could pretty much do it all myself.
24:04I don't really need him.
24:05Akeem's reaction...
24:06Did we get a close-up on the present yet of me opening the box?
24:09We did, didn't we?
24:10Harry?
24:11Yes.
24:12Let's just do Akeem's reaction, please.
24:13Are you sure?
24:14Yes.
24:15Let's do Akeem's reaction.
24:16Setting for Harpreet's ad...
24:18Action.
24:19...a dessert shop.
24:20Welcome to the world of oh-so-yum.
24:23For the best desserts, then this way come.
24:26Calling the shots.
24:28Marketing man Akshay.
24:30Three, two, one.
24:31Action.
24:32No, no, no, no.
24:33You start speaking when the camera goes up.
24:35Yeah, but I need you to do that when I start speaking.
24:38So when I say three, two, one, we go for the peanut butter.
24:40No, no.
24:41When you do this is when I'm going to start talking.
24:43Because it's on my face.
24:44Okay.
24:45But I say three, two, one.
24:46Action.
24:47That's just for him.
24:48And you as well.
24:49But I'm not going to start talking then.
24:50But start talking because I want you speaking when we're showing the actual desserts.
24:52Oh.
24:53Oh, that's fine then.
24:54Okay, cool, cool, cool.
24:55Yeah, yeah, yeah.
24:56So don't bother with a hand then.
24:57Yeah, yeah, yeah.
24:58Three, two, one, action.
24:59This variety is incredible.
25:01I'm going to go for the peanut butter stack.
25:04Cut.
25:05Brilliant shot.
25:06I mean, I'm a little bit of an all-rounder.
25:08I'm acting, I'm directing with Akshay.
25:11I just can't help it.
25:12I want to get involved and do the best that we can.
25:14Thanks for enjoying these treats in store.
25:16But you know you can get them delivered to your door?
25:18What?
25:19Cut.
25:20Okay, all right, cool.
25:21Yeah, that's fine.
25:221pm.
25:25In the kitchen with a consultant.
25:27I am looking to create a bit of a hero product.
25:30Harpreet dishes up a new dessert.
25:32Creates something like a cookie shot glass.
25:34To present at her pitch tomorrow.
25:37I do feel quite strongly about keeping that quite simple.
25:40And I know that from my experience that things like
25:43original chocolate chip cookie dough are best sellers.
25:45Yeah, of course.
25:46Okay, ready to go.
25:47Do you want to get that opened up, Navid?
25:48Sure.
25:49We're going to fold in that flour and then we need some chocolate chips.
25:51Yeah.
25:52Right, let's get that in here.
25:53Is this enough?
25:54Keep going, keep going.
25:55Can I just jump in?
25:56Yeah, of course.
25:57Of course.
25:59Could we do a little bit of a production line?
26:01Okay.
26:02Why don't you provide me with compact balls switched together like that?
26:04Fine, fine.
26:05Because I'm conscious.
26:06I want to get these in the oven so we can actually see how they pan out.
26:08Harpreet has decided to pick a plain cookie dough recipe as her signature dessert
26:13that she's going to show the experts.
26:15Lord Sugar said, what's your USP?
26:17Well, if it's a plain cookie dough recipe, I'm not sure there is a USP.
26:22Mmm, it smells good.
26:24Yeah, it does.
26:27Across town...
26:29It's Jungle Vibes.
26:30I feel like we can layer that nicely with the leopard.
26:33Katherine puts together prototype pyjamas for the pitch.
26:37If we do leaves next...
26:39Yeah.
26:40Colours-wise, I'm thinking like emerald deep green.
26:43And then you've got the leopard with the spots.
26:45Okay.
26:46Yeah.
26:47We need to start now layering.
26:48Yeah.
26:49Like that.
26:50Perfect, okay.
26:51And then let's get maybe another one coming out like that way, like that.
26:54Yeah, like that.
26:55This is starting to come together really well.
26:58Katherine's trying to incorporate a lot of different elements here.
27:01There's men, women, children, even dogs who've got to love this.
27:06It's a very difficult job.
27:07Let's hope she can pull it off.
27:09Oh no, that looks really good.
27:10I'm so pleased with how this has come out.
27:13I can't wait to actually turn this print into a pair of pyjamas.
27:173pm.
27:19While Amy sews up Katherine's pyjama ad.
27:22Because nothing says love like matching pyjamas.
27:25Honing Harpreet's 30-second masterpiece, Akshay.
27:30For how long is our current outfit?
27:331 minute 30.
27:35What?
27:36No, no, it can't be.
27:37Um.
27:38Wow.
27:39I think we still need to cut it down.
27:41Wow.
27:42Okay.
27:43So if we go back at the start, I think we can eliminate some stuff here.
27:46You see that eyebrow, the little eyebrow lifting?
27:48Let's get rid of that.
27:49Yeah.
27:50Here.
27:51Maybe a bit.
27:52Yeah.
27:53Okay.
27:54Sorry, Rhys.
27:55If we can eliminate the whoa, please.
27:56How much did we save there?
27:57Yeah, I think it was a solid second and a bit.
27:59Nice.
28:00This is too much walking.
28:01100%.
28:02We can eliminate.
28:03So if we can play this.
28:04Yeah.
28:05Cut.
28:0614 more seconds, guys.
28:07Only there.
28:086 p.m.
28:11For the finalists.
28:13So this is the print that I have created.
28:16Finishing touches to prototype products.
28:19That looks really cool to me.
28:20That looks really cool.
28:21I love it.
28:22Doesn't it?
28:23Yeah.
28:24Getting her shot glass perfect, Harpreet.
28:26Navid, which one would you like to taste?
28:28I'm struggling because they're both so delicious.
28:30I'll go with you.
28:31What should I try?
28:32Oh, you want the chocolate orange, don't you?
28:35The brand is complete.
28:36I've created a unique product that I believe is good enough.
28:40I can't actually do anything else right now other than give the pitch of my life and that's
28:45really scary.
28:46The point is I can sell these.
28:47I know I can.
28:51If I could show you kind of where the dog pajamas would sit, so the neck would go along
28:56that part.
28:57Turning her pattern into PJs.
28:59So Gabby, what I'm looking to create is a classic pajama set, like a shorts set.
29:04Catherine.
29:05They would sit around about here and these would fall like this.
29:09And then obviously you would have this color also with the ribbon here.
29:13It's been such a long journey.
29:15There's been so many ups, so many downs, but I just want to end on a high.
29:19Go out feeling confident and knowing that I've done all I can to prove to Lord Sugar why
29:23he should invest in me.
29:25Tonight, there's nothing more the finalists can do.
29:29Tomorrow, pitching time.
29:379am.
29:38Just took it.
29:39I do a cheers.
29:40Harpreet's team.
29:41I'm done.
29:42This is actually very nice.
29:43A first taste of her new signature product.
29:47I wanted to create something that shows Lord Sugar that I'm number one scalable.
29:51So I've actually just gone for original chocolate chip because that way I can mess around with
29:55lots of toppings.
29:56And the second reason is the USP.
29:59I haven't seen these in any other dessert parlors.
30:01No.
30:02The possibilities are endless with this type of product.
30:04Do you like it?
30:05Honestly.
30:06Really?
30:07It's really nice.
30:08Ready, guys?
30:10Across the hall.
30:12Oh, wow.
30:13I love it.
30:14The big reveal.
30:15Oh, I love.
30:17Of Catherine's PJs.
30:20Lord Sugar asked me to go away and create something different to other pyjama brands out
30:25there.
30:26Hopefully this has proved to Lord Sugar, you know, if I can do this in a couple of hours,
30:29what could I achieve with...
30:32I actually don't wear pyjamas only because I think a lot of guys don't.
30:35I would wear these.
30:36Oh, that's so lovely to hear.
30:39Yeah.
30:40Welcome to the world of Oh So Young.
30:43Next for Harpreet.
30:45I'm going to go for the peanut butter stack.
30:47The debut of a dessert blockbuster.
30:49Delicious peanut butter stack will keep you always coming back.
30:53Mmm.
30:54How to make your most treats in store, but you know you can get them delivered to your door.
30:59One thing's for sure, you'll keep coming back for more.
31:02What do you think?
31:03Guys, I absolutely love it.
31:05Nick, your acting skills are super.
31:08I don't know what to say.
31:11It's absolutely fantastic.
31:13I so appreciate you guys doing this for me.
31:16I was definitely nervous about Jane Harpreet the advert.
31:18I wanted her to love it.
31:19It looks like she absolutely did.
31:21She told me I was a great actor and I should go into it.
31:24So I'll take that.
31:25I can't believe it.
31:26But I know that you're pretty.
31:27I know that you're pretty.
31:28For Katherine's team.
31:29I know what I want.
31:30The premiere of Pajamaly.
31:31Pajamaly.
31:32Pajamaly.
31:33Because nothing says love like matching pajamas.
31:46Yay!
31:47Yay!
31:48Yay!
31:49Yay!
31:50Yay!
31:51Oh, my God.
31:52Oh, God.
31:53Yeah, I'm crying already.
31:54Oh, God.
31:55Oh, God.
31:56That is amazing.
31:59Wow.
32:00They have smashed it.
32:01They have got my vision.
32:03They've taken it.
32:04And they've produced the most incredible, incredible advert.
32:09I'm so happy.
32:10So I'm going to stay here with Steph and prepare my pitch.
32:14If you guys could go and do the consumer research,
32:16please be really, really honest with me
32:18because I need to be prepared for the pitch later.
32:21Brittany, if you could stay with me, would that be OK?
32:23Of course, of course.
32:24And, guys, obviously you created the digital billboard.
32:26It would be great if you could get some consumer feedback on it.
32:29See what they think.
32:31Have fun.
32:32Good luck.
32:33Let's go.
32:34You've got this.
32:35Thank you so much.
32:36Bye.
32:3810am.
32:39Half of each team heads off to gather feedback from the public.
32:42For the finalists...
32:44The route I'm going to go down is obviously intro.
32:46Then I will go into my concept.
32:49A last chance to prepare for their pitch.
32:52I can put financials in there with sales forecasts.
32:57When you're talking about yourself, I would quickly say,
32:59I've got a first-class degree in this,
33:01I was a bank manager at 24,
33:03and now I've opened my own business that's doing six-figure sums,
33:06and now I'm here to pitch you my business.
33:08Oh, wow, OK.
33:09Just do, like, five bullet points.
33:10OK, nice.
33:11Instead of being wishful,
33:12because that just shows how amazing you are.
33:14Nice, OK.
33:15West London.
33:18Seeing if Pajamaly hits the mark...
33:21Whoa!
33:23Oh, my God!
33:25...Amy, Harry and Akeem.
33:28What do you think about that logo?
33:30Er...
33:33It is very charity shop.
33:35I can't really put my finger to it,
33:37but it's sort of...
33:39It's not too warm,
33:40it doesn't have the family feeling.
33:42That, to me, looks a little bit more
33:44like it's come from the healthcare authority.
33:46I feel like it needs to have a little bit of oomph to it,
33:49a bit more colour.
33:50It's, er...
33:51The logo looks more like a charity.
33:54On the other team...
33:56Oh, that should have been me.
33:58You're a little nasty.
34:00...hoping oh-so-yum leaves a pleasant taste.
34:03What do you think about the billboard?
34:05Navid, Nick and Akshay.
34:0710 out of 10.
34:0910 out of 10.
34:10There we go.
34:11Take that.
34:12So how does it taste?
34:13I like it.
34:14OK.
34:15But I think there's absolutely no way
34:16I could eat a whole one.
34:17You could only...
34:18Is it too much?
34:19No, it is too much.
34:20It's OK.
34:21I wouldn't say it's mind-blowing.
34:22I think it's a good idea,
34:23but I think it's too big.
34:24And it's too thick.
34:25Do you like it?
34:29Mmm.
34:30The texture of this is quite biscuity.
34:31Yeah.
34:32It's really nice.
34:33It's the works.
34:34We've got enough here.
34:35We've got positives, negatives.
34:36Let's get back and help her out.
34:37Yeah, for sure.
34:38OK, let's go.
34:43Pennington Street Warehouse.
34:49In just three hours,
34:50finalists will pitch their businesses
34:52to Lord Sugar...
34:53Wow.
34:54Wow.
34:55This is quite...
34:56Is this quite intimate then?
34:57Yeah.
34:58...and leading industry experts.
34:59It's nice to know where I'm going to be.
35:01Absolutely.
35:02Erm...
35:03That's a really, really nice place to pitch.
35:04Yeah.
35:05Now it's finally the moment.
35:06Oh, gosh.
35:07OK.
35:09But first,
35:10a chance to filter through feedback.
35:13OK, guys.
35:14I haven't got too long, so I want to really cut to facts.
35:15Is that OK?
35:16Yeah?
35:17Yeah.
35:18OK.
35:19Five out of seven liked the product.
35:20OK.
35:21They said they liked it.
35:2285% would buy it.
35:23Why didn't they like it?
35:24They said it's too sweet.
35:25Do you want to hear all our stats?
35:26Erm, I'm going to...
35:27Just let me guide it in the way that I find useful, if that's OK.
35:29Why didn't they like it?
35:30So, to some reason I'd say, too sweet.
35:32Yeah.
35:33Too much.
35:34Yeah.
35:35And too thick.
35:36These are things I could work on.
35:37This was the first time I've created this.
35:38I would always test it before actually scaling up.
35:39Yeah.
35:40Guys, thank you so much for going out and doing that.
35:42I'm actually happy with the consumer research.
35:43I can work with it, for sure.
35:45Erm, wish me luck.
35:46You'll smash it.
35:47You will.
35:48You will.
35:50So, the one area that pretty much everyone hit on,
35:53which is a slight negative...
35:54OK.
35:55...constructive...
35:56..is that the logo itself reminded them of...
35:58..a charity or something in healthcare.
36:01Fine.
36:02Quite corporate.
36:03Yep.
36:04And the other thing that some people noticed, but not everybody,
36:07was that the blue, the navy blue...
36:09Yep.
36:10..could be a brighter colour.
36:11Fine.
36:12Something to exude warmth.
36:13I mean...
36:14I don't think it's a fundamental issue.
36:15I'm just really excited just to show Lord Sugar
36:17kind of what I can do and really showcase my brand.
36:20Good.
36:21Guys, I'll see you on the other side.
36:23Take care.
36:254pm.
36:28Doors open to some of the biggest names in British business,
36:32including experts from the worlds of food and fashion.
36:38Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.
36:44This does evoke the feeling of love.
36:47With a loss of £130,000.
36:50First to pitch, Harpreet Corp.
36:58This is the moment I've been waiting for.
37:00This is exactly why I came here.
37:02I need to remember to slow it down and just breathe
37:05and just be confident.
37:07APPLAUSE
37:11Hi, everybody.
37:13Good afternoon.
37:14Please let me welcome you to the world of Oh So Yum.
37:17We now have two stores
37:19and the business is now ready to scale up.
37:22I want to open additional locations,
37:24but what I'm working really hard at Oh So Yum
37:27to be able to offer people is a variety of yummy treats
37:30that can be posted out and really take advantage of that world.
37:35The average yearly turnover from the online sales
37:38and the stores over the next three years
37:40would be just under £2 million,
37:42with an average net profit of just over half a million.
37:45Desserts is big money,
37:47and I want a bigger slice of the action.
37:49So, branding.
37:51I've created a 30-second advertisement
37:53that my team helped me come up with in the past couple of days.
37:56Welcome to the world of Oh So Yum.
37:59For the best desserts, then this way come.
38:02I'm going to go for the peanut butter stack.
38:04Mmm.
38:05Can I try the Jamini Dodger blondie cake?
38:07So much variety all in one place.
38:09Can I have a load of smoothie pie?
38:11Treats impossible to deny.
38:14Thanks for enjoying these treats in store,
38:16but you know you can get them delivered to your door.
38:18One thing's for sure, you'll keep coming back for more.
38:21They also help create a little bit of a digital tease.
38:24Clearly, you can see he's very happy about those desserts there.
38:27So, that's the end of that.
38:29Thank you so much for listening,
38:30and I'll open up the floor for any questions.
38:33My name's Pitt Wilkins.
38:34I'm the CEO of the British Franchise Association.
38:37You spoke a bit about scaling up.
38:39So, what is your five-year plan for opening,
38:42and how many do you actually intend to open, and how?
38:45So, in terms of accelerating the number of stores within those three years,
38:48I could do it personally.
38:50In terms of franchising, I think that would be a fantastic way
38:53to reach the level of success as something like Creams has,
38:56but I would love to explore it.
38:59I'm Othman Shokut, the Managing Director at Creams Cafe.
39:03Do you actually believe there is scalability in the business
39:06in terms of opening more stores,
39:08given that the market is now highly saturated?
39:11I don't believe it's oversaturated.
39:13There's still room, and the reason I say that is because,
39:16even though I've still only got two stores,
39:18I open those with competition around,
39:21and I'm making six-figure profits.
39:24Thank you so much.
39:33Nice.
39:34You're amazing.
39:38For Lord Sugar...
39:39I really need to know whether you feel it's scalable or not.
39:43Expert feedback.
39:44I think there's a lot of competition,
39:46but it's reaching a saturation point,
39:49so I think if you're coming up with a new concept,
39:51it needs to be unique,
39:52and maybe it's, you know, other products
39:54that she would need to sort of have to, you know, drive that growth.
39:57What do you think of the products that she made, the ones there?
40:00There's definitely a market for it.
40:01We're seeing that these kind of unique dessert stores
40:03are doing really well on delivery.
40:05I think the key thing is how is she going to differentiate?
40:08Next, to take the floor, Catherine Byrne.
40:18There's a lot of pressure on me today,
40:20because what happens in the next ten minutes
40:23is potentially life-changing.
40:29So, pyjama-ly is a clever play on words,
40:33which is pyjamas and family.
40:36Pyjama-ly will offer matching sets for the whole family.
40:39However, we won't be like other brands,
40:41because we will have the USP of the matching dog pyjamas,
40:45and there are no brands out there at the moment that offer this.
40:48They will be on-trend, affordable,
40:51and most importantly, comfortable.
40:54So, I cannot wait to show you a set of my pyjamas
40:58that I created myself yesterday.
41:01So, as you can see, I opted for a classic style
41:06with the button-up short set.
41:08I went for the jungle print,
41:10as that is very much on-trend at the moment.
41:13However, I would stay up to date with the current trends
41:17and go with that for future ranges.
41:20So, now I'm going to show you our digital billboard,
41:23just to show our USP,
41:27which then leads me on to the advert.
41:30So, this evokes the feeling of love
41:32and there's more of a storyline.
41:34Pajamaly, because nothing says love like matching pyjamas.
41:55But hopefully, this can show you that if I can achieve this in just two days,
42:00imagine what I can do with even more time.
42:03Thank you very much, and I'd like to open the floor to questions.
42:06Hi, Katherine.
42:07Hi, Mark.
42:08I'm Mark, the brand director of Cypajammies.
42:10We consider this to be a pretty crowded marketplace.
42:13Do you think your product and your branding
42:15stands out clear enough to be successful?
42:18I think my product with the USP with matching dogs,
42:21I think that makes us different to the competitors.
42:24And also, the fact that the prints will be done by myself,
42:28so you will not be able to find these anywhere else.
42:30They are unique prints, and we intend to be very much on-trend.
42:35Lorraine Harris from George Clothing.
42:37Love it to you.
42:38The jungle trend was a key trend a couple of years ago,
42:42and definitely something that we're not seeing at George.
42:44What was your thought process behind this?
42:46A jungle trend is something that I know is very much in fashion,
42:50because I see it a lot when I go out to other retailers.
42:53And Dolce & Gabbana actually had that in their collection
42:56only in their last season, so I know that jungle is still on-trend.
43:00It won't be here forever, but I intend to keep an eye on
43:03what is in-trend and move with that.
43:06So, thank you so much for your time,
43:08and thank you very much for listening.
43:10Well done.
43:11APPLAUSE
43:19Smashed a camera.
43:21Ooh!
43:23I think you alluded to that it's being a very crowded market.
43:27Is that right?
43:28It is incredibly competitive.
43:30She's got some great product.
43:32Is it enough to stand out in a very competitive crowd?
43:35It will be challenging, but I think it's possible.
43:40I don't see a gap, but I do see an opportunity and space in the market,
43:44and I think it's growing rapidly and she could fill it.
43:47How important is the dog?
43:50Is it a USP in this business?
43:53Yeah, it's easy to see it as a bit of fun, a bit of a quirk,
43:56but I think she has nailed on something that is a bit more unique to hers,
44:01and I think it plays a part in her success if she's going to have it.
44:09Pitch is over.
44:10I've given it everything I've got throughout this entire process.
44:14I'm really proud of myself and I really want to win now.
44:18I truly feel that I have done everything that I can do
44:22to prove to Lord Sugar why he should be invested in me.
44:25So now it's just, does he want to be part of the next big thing?
44:29Tonight, there's nothing more the candidates can do.
44:33Tomorrow, the final shootout.
44:44You can go through to the boardroom now.
44:46You can go through to the boardroom now.
44:51Well, welcome back, some of our past candidates.
45:11As you know, you've been brought back to assist the two finalists.
45:16Right, so, Harpreet, name, tell me about it.
45:20I wanted to go for something that just describes how you feel
45:24or what you would say when you eat something yummy or delicious
45:28or scrumptious and we rested on Oh So Yum.
45:31It sounds like a Thai soup.
45:34Do you know...
45:35Or a madness song, maybe, one of the two.
45:37So, anyway, who did what?
45:40Myself and Brittany went and created the branding.
45:43Karen did tell me that the pressure was affecting you a little bit.
45:49To use a pun, your decision-making deserted you, from what I heard.
45:53The thing is, I haven't actually been on the branding team
45:55throughout this entire process.
45:57I wouldn't say it's my biggest skill.
46:00Having said that, I'm actually really proud of what I have come up with.
46:03All right. I like it.
46:05So, let me move on to the gentlemen who are going to make the billboard.
46:11So, initially, we started off with Nav.
46:13We spent about 30, 35 minutes filming different takes
46:16and it got to a point where we said,
46:18Nick, I just want you to try it now.
46:20One take, ten seconds done.
46:22Went to the edit room. That's the take we went with.
46:24So, you spent 80% of the time trying to make this thing.
46:28Yeah, exactly. And then...
46:29And he spent 1% of the time doing that.
46:31Literally, last minute, I actually was like, Nick, you try it.
46:33But, obviously, I was kind of pissed off with axe shells.
46:35Like, you should have chose me.
46:36Not, you know, all that hard work of, like, bending down
46:39and doing all the exits.
46:40I don't think our of you are up for the next Bond movie.
46:42Let's put it that way. Yeah.
46:45Unless it's the villa. Yeah.
46:47Yeah, yeah.
46:48You look like you was inspecting the buffet at Mr Kipling's funeral
46:52as that was going along.
46:54So, Harpreet, what is the USP, then?
46:59Just really yummy treats that not only are they delicious, tasty,
47:02but are also different and stand out.
47:04Naughty treats.
47:05Naughty treats.
47:06Yeah, you should have called it Amyummers, maybe.
47:09Yeah.
47:11What do you think of the advert?
47:13Yeah, I was really happy with it.
47:14I didn't have any complaints.
47:16And I know that the team really supported me
47:18and really tried their best to incorporate everything
47:20that I'd asked them to do.
47:21Who wrote the script?
47:22That was me.
47:23Thanks for enjoying these treats in store.
47:26The script is weird and the acting is poor.
47:29That's what I want to say.
47:32Now, happy with them?
47:36100%, absolutely.
47:38Yeah.
47:39She knows what she's doing.
47:40She's got a track record and brilliant candidate.
47:42Fully deserving for this.
47:43Thank you, actually.
47:44All right, good.
47:45So, let's move over to Catherine.
47:48So, who did what?
47:49So, I went on to the branding and I took Stephanie with me.
47:53We went to go and do the name, the tagline and the logo.
47:57I saw the logo.
47:58Yeah.
47:59It looks like the man and woman on the toilet door had a kid.
48:02I did struggle with the logo because I did want to incorporate
48:05the whole family into such a small logo.
48:08So, that's what we ended up with.
48:10Anyway, let's talk about the design of the pyjama print.
48:14So, we went off and met with a graphic designer
48:17that worked in a print...
48:18This is it?
48:19That is it, yes.
48:20That's the one, jungle.
48:21Yes, jungle theme.
48:22I did find it hard trying to find a pattern,
48:24or doing a pattern that was suitable for men, women,
48:27children, babies and dogs.
48:29But I was really, really pleased with how it came out.
48:31Did you go for the jungle theme in anticipation of you
48:34sending them all off by Amazon?
48:36No.
48:39I just know that jungle theme is very much in fashion at the moment.
48:43It's very on trend.
48:44OK.
48:45Anyway, sub-team leader was guess who?
48:47Amy.
48:48Amy.
48:49Yes.
48:50How unusual.
48:51I understand Harry and Amy spent two days arguing with each other
48:56of disagreeing with things.
48:58Is that right?
48:59We were all there to support Catherine, obviously,
49:01and it was very important to convey the message in ten seconds or less.
49:05Is it fair to say you two won't be buying matching pyjamas?
49:11I genuinely would buy pyjamas and I would gift them to Amy
49:14because she's a nice person.
49:15But, you know what, ultimately...
49:16She's got more drama than Meghan and Harry, this is.
49:18Mm.
49:19We did get the job done and that was what was important,
49:21and Catherine was extremely happy.
49:23We were all so happy with the billboard and the commercial.
49:26OK.
49:27Despite some of the interruptions and disruptions.
49:28I only asked for a little summary.
49:29Oh, right, sorry.
49:30There you go.
49:31Anyway, never mind, Harry.
49:32I'm down if I do.
49:33I'm down if I do.
49:34I like you, Harry.
49:35Thank you, Lord.
49:36I like you, Harry.
49:37Harry, I like you, Harry.
49:38You look like my nephew, that's right.
49:40Thank you, Lord.
49:41OK.
49:42Um...
49:43So, you're happy with your team?
49:44Yes, really, really happy.
49:46What do you think, ladies and gentlemen?
49:47Yes?
49:48She's great.
49:49Her vision was very clear and, um, we were so pleased
49:52and excited to support her.
49:54OK, good.
49:55Well, look, now I've got to, uh, talk to the two finalists
49:59and I will be deciding which one of them, um,
50:02should be my business partner.
50:04Off you go.
50:05Thank you, Lord.
50:07Thank you, Tim.
50:08Thanks so much.
50:09You OK?
50:10Thank you, Susan.
50:12No worries.
50:13So, let's start with Harpreet.
50:17How, uh, will this be a scalable business
50:20based on the fact that you don't make anything yourself?
50:23I do work with suppliers that have, um, appropriate facilities
50:26and I will be having conversations with them
50:29to see what level of business they would be able to handle
50:32and if they can facilitate that if I was to scale up.
50:35Do you think that you've missed the boat?
50:40Because according to one of the other experts there,
50:44this dessert trend was something, you know,
50:48like two, three years ago.
50:50Mm-hm.
50:51Um, when I mention that I want to open additional locations,
50:54I don't want to pop up anywhere and everywhere
50:56with hundreds of seating, which is what some of my competitors do.
51:00What I really want to push, and I know that no one's really
51:03taking advantage of, is the digital side of things
51:06and nationwide delivery in terms of having that one-stop shop.
51:10I accept and appreciate that, um,
51:13food delivery now is a big business.
51:15Mm-hm.
51:16Are you absolutely sure that, uh, desserts, uh,
51:19are going to be higher on the priority to, uh, for ordering?
51:22In terms of the online side of things,
51:24it's not just for immediate consumption.
51:27Desserts are great as a gift.
51:29People like them as a little treat, and that's exactly...
51:31Gimmicky, though, is it gimmicky?
51:32I do agree with the fact that some things are gimmicky.
51:35If I can introduce them to that, that I know tastes good
51:38and will keep people coming back for more,
51:40such as things like the cookie cup that I created,
51:42that I know I can keep recycling or renovating a little,
51:45and that I can sell in different formats.
51:47Mm.
51:48Right, so, Catherine, um, as you know,
51:52I have various businesses, and to be perfectly frank about it,
51:57some of them benefited tremendously in the pandemic.
52:01Yeah.
52:02And that's because their online sales shot up.
52:04So now we're coming out of it.
52:06Yeah.
52:07How do you see it settling down?
52:08Is it just going to be Christmas or what?
52:10No, I guess, at the end of the day, they're pyjamas.
52:12People wear pyjamas all year round.
52:14Um, so, yes, I do think the pandemic did massively help my sales,
52:17you can see that,
52:18but I do think that the whole working from home, um, for companies,
52:22I don't think that will stop when things go back to normal.
52:24Are you suggesting that people who work from home stay in their pyjamas all day long?
52:28No, no, but when you're at home...
52:30I've often thought that, actually.
52:32Well, I know a lot of people, I know, obviously, I'm not loungewear,
52:34but I know that a lot of people do wear loungewear pyjamas more,
52:38and I think the pyjama, um, industry, that is going to keep rising.
52:43OK.
52:44Some of the, um, advisers yesterday,
52:47they said that the, uh, jungle theme is not really original.
52:52Yes, the jungle theme has been around for a couple of years,
52:55but it is still on trend.
52:56Well, they're saying it's not on trend anymore.
52:58It was, like, two years ago it was on trend.
53:00I disagree with that, cos I know that...
53:02Well, they're the experts, aren't they?
53:03That's why I brought them in, really.
53:04Of course.
53:05As, kind of, as it's my business, and I do a lot of research,
53:08I look at the, what is in big high street stores,
53:11and I look at my competitors,
53:13and the running theme at the moment is jungle theme,
53:15and that's why I feel that that's a good way to go at the moment.
53:18That's not to say I'm going to have jungle theme forever,
53:20because I will follow where the trends are going.
53:22Right.
53:23OK, look, um, I've kind of heard enough at the moment.
53:28I'd like to take my time now to have a chat with Tim and Karen.
53:34So, look, I'm just going to ask you to step out for a while,
53:37and when you do come back in,
53:39one of you is going to become my business partner, OK?
53:48So, Harpreet, what's your call?
53:51She's been a really good candidate.
53:52Lots of the other people in the process really respect her,
53:54they followed her, and she's delivered several times.
53:57The question you have to ask yourself is, is it scalable?
54:01What is unique that turns her from her two stalls
54:05to the hundred stalls that she has the ambition to be?
54:09So, Katherine...
54:10She thinks she's an expert
54:12when she's really just beginning to build her business.
54:15When you question the jungle trend, she wasn't having it.
54:18The whole part of being your business partner
54:21is to take on board your advice.
54:23If she listens, takes the wise words, this could be one.
54:26Well, look, I'm now going to bring these two people back in,
54:30and one of them is going to be my business partner.
54:33PHONE RINGS
54:36Yes, could you send the two finalists in, please?
54:48Well, ladies, I've had an opportunity
54:50to have quite an in-depth chat with Karen and Tim,
54:55who, as you know, have been following around for 12 weeks.
54:59Harpreet, tell me what are you going to do with my £250,000?
55:04I would like to use a portion of the money to invest across three stores.
55:09I'm going to be honest, Lord Sugar, coming into this process,
55:12I just pitched in my business plan and those sales figures
55:14as one store per year.
55:16I would like to go more ambitious than that.
55:18I know that I could open those three locations within 18 months to two years.
55:23At that point, I would like to explore franchising.
55:25OK, Catherine, what are you going to do in my £250,000?
55:29Your investment would allow me to scale up
55:31and also put a lot of money into marketing,
55:33as that is what's going to drive people to my website.
55:36How are you going to market?
55:37So paying influencers, they would basically have a photo
55:40with their family in the pyjamas, tag us in,
55:42and people would go onto the Instagram and onto my website.
55:46Basically all online?
55:47It would be all online.
55:48Right, so you're not going to sell to retail shops or anything?
55:51That is something I would like to look into the future.
55:53I know that this business will be a success.
55:56Lord Sugar, I have already got a successful business.
55:59I can do sales, I can negotiate hard, I can lead others,
56:02I can step in and lead when others can't.
56:05Lord Sugar, I have showed leadership throughout this process.
56:08Just imagine what I can do with extra resources,
56:11investment and your expertise.
56:14I do feel that it will be a success.
56:16I also have strong visions and I know when to charge ahead
56:18when I know something is right.
56:20I have big plans, I know I could probably achieve them
56:23without this platform, but I want the pressure.
56:25You could?
56:26I could do it, but I want the pressure, I want the platform
56:28and I want to accelerate my growth
56:30and this is going to supercharge me to be able to do that.
56:32Hmm.
56:35OK, well, look, it is a very, very difficult situation for me.
56:44Harpreet, I'm not sure whether this business is scalable
56:47or whether you're trying to do too much,
56:49and that's what I'm worried about at the moment.
56:52Catherine, I'm concerned.
56:57Longevity of it and popularity of it.
57:01It's very hard.
57:04This is difficult for me.
57:06A lot of the companies that I invest in
57:09are a start-from-scratch situation,
57:11basically what Catherine is proposing.
57:14So, ladies, I think that I've decided now.
57:25Harpreet, you're going to be my business partner.
57:29Well done.
57:31Thank you, Lord Sugar.
57:33Well done for being in the finals.
57:35I'm sorry that one of you is not going to be my business partner.
57:39Good luck and on your way.
57:41Thank you so much.
57:42Thank you, Lord Sugar.
57:48Congratulations.
57:58I cannot believe Lord Sugar has chosen me to be his business partner.
58:02I have dreamt of this moment and it just completely proves
58:05that if you work hard and you believe in yourself, dreams do come true.
58:1016 candidates.
58:13One investment.
58:15For now, Lord Sugar's search is over.
58:23Well, this calls for some cakes.
58:25Congratulations, Harpreet.
58:26The car is taking her to BBC Two.
58:28Lord Sugar will join her for The Apprentice You're Hired.
58:31You're Hired.
58:32Now, or there's Sun, Sea and, well, let's see, on BBC Three
58:37going on their first real date in the flesh.
