00:06:32Well, good morning, everyone, and welcome to this beautiful summer day,

00:06:41We always love our parish and community picnic here.
00:06:44Such a wonderful opportunity to share our faith and our bounty with everyone
00:06:48and to eat lots of good hot dogs and hamburgers.
00:06:52Like Joe, I'm a big hot dog fan,
00:06:54so I'm ready to eat a bunch of them with lots of mustard.
00:06:59And I made my world-famous kapusta, too, so we can all enjoy that as well.
00:07:05I'm sure everyone's brought some wonderful things,
00:07:08and thank you for doing that.
00:07:10Just a few quick announcements.
00:07:13Parish picnic today, okay?
00:07:15Please stay and enjoy our fall soup sale.
00:07:18And again, just think about what you'd like to make.
00:07:21Make it at home.
00:07:22No stress, right?
00:07:24Just make some soup like you normally would.
00:07:26We'll give you containers to put it in.
00:07:29They're quart containers.
00:07:30And if you make four or five quarts of soup and just bring it to church,
00:07:35we'll pop them in the freezer and put them up for sale.
00:07:37Let people just come in and get some fresh homemade soup for the fall.
00:07:43It's a great time to have soup.
00:07:44And although I'm not looking forward to the cold months,
00:07:47I am looking forward to eating good things like soup.
00:07:50So Altamon Fair, huge thank you.
00:07:53Everyone that turned out, we also had a wonderful attendance from people who were at the fair
00:07:59because it was the solemnity of the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
00:08:04So people came to Mass.
00:08:07The caretakers of the chapel there told me it was the best turnout they had all week.
00:08:13So we did a really good job there at the fair showing forth our faith and greeting people.
00:08:19So thank you to everyone who came and helped to meet people and engage with them.
00:08:25I've been talking a little bit about, I've talked with Paul, I've talked with Linda,
00:08:31about putting together a nice fall trip to Scranton.
00:08:35We would get like a mini bus, you know, a nice comfortable bus to go so nobody has to drive.
00:08:42And we'll do a grand tour.
00:08:46We'll go to the cathedral, go to the seminary, go to the National Church Center,
00:08:52go to the tomb of Bishop Hoder, as well as St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
00:08:58There's many of the notables of the Polish National Catholic Church buried in that cemetery.
00:09:04So we can spend some time in prayer there.
00:09:07And then we'll go out to the farm at Spuña Farm and have a picnic and a nice lunch.
00:09:15And then relax on the road home.
00:09:17So I will put out a sign-up sheet next week if you're interested.
00:09:26And again, there will be no cost to it.
00:09:29But just we'll go and we'll have a good time as a parish family.
00:09:34And that's kind of what Spuña Farm is meant to be.
00:09:37It's meant to gather people from throughout the church as parish families to enjoy a day or days together.
00:09:44So just keep that in mind.

00:25:20It's a consistent path
00:25:22that we are to walk.
00:25:25Now, Jeremiah,
00:25:27who was a young man,
00:25:29by the way,
00:25:31was hated.
00:25:32Boy, did they hate Jeremiah.
00:25:35They wanted to get rid of him
00:25:37because people didn't like
00:25:40what he said.
00:25:42He called people
00:25:44on their sin.
00:25:47And he told them
00:25:48that sin
00:25:48would have consequences.
00:25:52And people sort of
00:25:53looked at him
00:25:53and they said,
00:25:54well, you're making
00:25:55the army so sad.
00:25:57You're not being
00:25:58very nice, Jeremiah.
00:26:00You should tell us
00:26:01what we want to hear.
00:26:05Jeremiah stuck
00:26:06by what God
00:26:07told him to proclaim.
00:26:09It was a hard message.
00:26:11But the people
00:26:11needed that hard message.
00:26:16sinfulness
00:26:18and consequences.
00:26:20I ask myself,
00:26:22and I think
00:26:22a lot of pastors do,
00:26:24but we should all
00:26:25ask ourselves,
00:26:27do any of us
00:26:28talk like that anymore?
00:26:31Do any of us
00:26:32talk like that anymore?
00:26:33Do we say,
00:26:34there's sin,
00:26:35there's a way
00:26:36we shouldn't go,
00:26:38things we should
00:26:39not believe in,
00:26:41things we shouldn't
00:26:41agree with,
00:26:42and that if we do
00:26:45sin,
00:26:46that there is
00:26:47consequences.
00:26:49I can count
00:26:50the number of people
00:26:51that I know
00:26:52personally
00:26:52that live lives
00:26:55that are
00:26:55not so great.
00:26:58And then they wonder,
00:26:59why are these things
00:27:01happening to me?
00:27:03Sin
00:27:04has
00:27:04practical
00:27:06consequences.
00:27:08And we have to
00:27:09realize that
00:27:10because it gives us
00:27:11reason to avoid
