00:00Several months ago, due to health concerns, I entered the hospital for some testing.
00:05I did not believe that this would result in a long-term stay.
00:09I was given the diagnosis of depression.
00:13Now when people hear the word depression, many people think simply means feeling sad.
00:19But depression is so much more than that.
00:22It is physical.
00:24It is emotional.
00:25And until you experience it yourself, it is difficult to fully understand how powerful
00:32this illness can be.
00:34The doctors recommended that I remain in the hospital to address my illness.
00:39When I first informed the public that I was dealing with a medical issue, I was still
00:44trying to understand what was happening myself.
00:47When I said I hoped to return in a matter of weeks, I believed it.
00:52Those were the best estimates that the doctors could provide.
00:57But as the over 48 million of my fellow Americans being treated for this illness have come to
01:03discover there is no timeline for healing.
01:07There is no timeline for recovery.
01:09only the work of getting better, one day at a time.
