00:00And the reality with the defensive player of the year market, Joe,
00:03is very typically we're looking for pass rushers.
00:06Guys that get after the quarterback, maybe a linebacker.
00:09I feel usually we look past the secondary.
00:13Until last year, Pat Sertan of the Denver Broncos ends up winning this award.
00:17So I don't want to start anywhere else.
00:20And this is an award you can win back-to-back, right?
00:23You can rip off a couple of these.
00:25You know, thinking about J.J. Watt, for example.
00:27Pat Sertan is 33-1, the same as his teammate Nick Benito.
00:35I got to listen to Slander to Nicky B and not Nick Boat.
00:39Come on now.
00:39The guy who won the awards 33-1?
00:41Well, I mean, team success.
00:43Team success, they had a playoff run.
00:46I mean, think about it.
00:47There's some people hot on the Denver.
00:49I don't know where you're at.
00:50Hot on the Denver.
00:51Very hot.
00:52Right.
00:52I don't know if they make it back to the playoffs.
00:54That's a conversation for another day.
00:56But Pat Sertan was the best defensive player on that team.
01:00He elevated that unit.
01:02When you talk about being opportunistic, creating turnovers, leading your team, they had one of the better defenses heading into the playoffs.
01:09In the AFC, Pat Sertan was a lockdown corner and a lockdown player for them.
01:1533-1, I probably would throw a lottery ticket on that just because, hey, he's a dominant player, he stepped up, and obviously the team can be in a playoff type of run.
01:27But I still would go somewhere else.
01:29I mean, I would throw money on Hamilton.
01:32Kyle Hamilton at 50-1.
01:34I don't hate that.
01:34But, you know, to me, we know he's a ball hawk.
01:37We know that Baltimore's going to be in the mix.
01:40Playing next to Starks out of Georgia.
01:41The rookie could be beneficial.
01:43Open up some opportunities for him.
01:45I'll throw one more.
01:46And I know he's not a edge rusher.
01:49But Jalen Carter at 22-1.
01:51I mean, if they're going to make a run at back-to-back titles, Jalen Carter's going to have a fantastic year.
01:59If we're talking tackles for loss, just a dominant player in the middle.
02:0522-1 for the best player on that defensive front?
02:09Yeah, I think it's really interesting, though, because, and I think it's good that we're talking down-the-board DPOY,
02:15because Sertan certainly would have fit that description as a, you know, down-the-board type of guy, Joe.
02:19So, I wonder, is this an award that we can start to zag on a little bit, right?
02:24Like, let's go a little bit crazier.
02:26What about Quinion Mitchell on the Philadelphia Eagles?
02:28You mentioned Philadelphia.
02:29What if, all of a sudden, we get a cornerback award?
02:32I think Christian Gonzalez in New England is really good.
02:35I think the Pats can have a really nice defense this year with Mike Vrabel.
02:38Does that speak to you a little bit?
02:41It does.
02:41But that's when you brought up Mitchell.
02:43You're a homer.
02:45What do you mean?
02:45Wow!
02:46He's a dynamic player.
02:48Do you want me to bring up the gene?
02:50No, I'm just saying, because I'm going to go homer now, because on a team that I'm high on,
02:54when you said defensive back, I looked at Sauce Gardner at 75-1.
02:59I did!
03:00Because Sauce has that star power.
03:02I think he is going to elevate his game this year.
03:05I am high on the Jets, like I mentioned on numerous shows,
03:08to be a 9.5 or a potential 10-win football team in that area, 9 or a 10-win.
03:14And if that's the case, similar to Denver, and Sauce steps up with, I don't know, I'll
03:18just throw it out, 7-8 interceptions.
03:21That leads that defense, and they're a top 10 unit, again, under Aaron Glenn.
03:26I'm just saying, 75-1 has some legs.
03:29I'll mention the Texas two-pack, then, with Will Anderson and Derek Stingley Jr.
03:33You know, the trick of this is, can you find defenses that are supposed to be really, really,
03:39really good?
03:41And I know I didn't speak super favorably of this group in our most recent segment,
03:45when it pertains to Nico Collins, winning Offensive Player of the Year.
03:48But if this team is going to repeat as AFC South champions and get back to the playoffs
03:53and maybe be in another year better, it's because Will Anderson Jr. and Derek Stingley
03:57are another year better.
03:58Look at the playoffs.
03:59It was Will Anderson's team, right?
04:01Will Anderson was the main reason why they made it and challenged the Kansas City Chiefs
04:06in the divisional round.
04:07They beat up Justin Herbert because of Will Anderson in that front seven.
04:11So, that's what you want to see.
04:13I think he'll be there, and I think it's a pretty good choice.
04:15I don't like any of the front runners.
04:17Obviously, Mike, I don't think team success.
04:20Aiden with the injury, I'm always concerned.
04:22TJ at the end of his career, not high on Aaron Rodgers in Pittsburgh.
04:26So, that's why I can't look.
04:28Verse is interesting, but now with the situation with Stafford,
04:31you throw him out of the window.
