00:00So, Jed, help Cub fans understand something about Owen Casey.
00:04He was obviously and understandably valued enough at the deadline
00:08to keep from being involved in any big deals.
00:12And so when he's called up, finally, he gets a start in Toronto,
00:16but against three straight right-handers over the weekend,
00:19he's not in the lineup.
00:21So is there a difference of opinion in terms of how good or ready Casey is
00:25for this challenge between you and maybe Craig Council?
00:30No, no, not at all.
00:31I mean, we talked about this when we brought him up.
00:34I mean, I think that the way our team is set up, if we're going to play him,
00:40it's going to be at the expense, really, of Isaiah or Kyle or Ian.
00:44That's kind of the way it would work.
00:48And those guys have been doing this a long time,
00:50and they're a big part of our offense.
00:54And so, yeah, listen, Owen's going to play.
00:55If he's not playing at some point, then we'll have to make sure
00:59he's getting reps in the minors.
01:00Because ultimately, you know, I think he's very close to Major League ready.
01:05But, you know, I think as we've seen with Pete, as we've seen with Matt Shaw,
01:09I think that no matter how good you are in the minors,
01:12how good you are as a prospect, the early reps can be challenging, you know.
01:17And we want to make sure that, you know, he's not – he's getting reps and playing.
01:23So I think that he's going to get at-bats.
01:25He's going to get – you know, be in the lineup at times.
01:28But, you know, the point of calling him up was never to bench one of our veteran guys.
01:34And that's – we've been true to that.
