00:00PCA, from either side, I'm not in a huge rush to get him signed to an extent.

00:05If you're the Cubs, you'd probably get a discount on what you would have to pay him

00:07if he got to the end of the rookie phase of his career.

00:13But outside of that, I'm not in a huge rush.

00:15And if I'm PCA, I'm really not in a huge rush because my price goes up every single day.

00:20To quote Pusha T, yesterday's price is not today's price for PCA.

00:25And tomorrow's price won't be today's price if he keeps doing what he's doing.

00:30So from either side, I don't feel like there should be a lot of urgency to get him signed.

00:34Whenever you do, great, and we'll all be happy about it.

00:37Kyle Tucker, they have to re-sign or win a World Series this year or they lost that trade.

00:43Yep.

00:43So there is a level of urgency there.

00:46But man, when you're talking about Jed Hoyer and where he's gotten this team in the three,

00:52four years that he's had control and since he took over for Theo as president of baseball operations.

00:58And I know, and we talked about it last segment, we weren't thrilled with the way last year.

01:03I think two years ago, we were all like, okay, 83 wins.

01:06It's a step in the right direction.

01:08This thing is moving forward at least.

01:11And let's see what they do to sort of get it over the hump.

01:15Last year, I felt like it was either a step back or at least like a little stagnant.

01:19And it was the exact same record.

01:22So a little stagnancy there, but big picture to be where they are now, to be in first place,

01:29number one offense in the league.

01:31And you look at some of the young pieces that they have along with acquisitions,

01:35like Kyle Tucker and, say, Suzuki from outside the organization.

01:40This plan is coming together the way you'd think a plan should come together in about three years.

01:45And that's with the restrictions of the Ricketts sort of tightening the purse strings a little bit.

01:51The intelligent spending.

01:52Exactly.

01:53So to me, the guy who sort of has put this whole thing together, the mastermind of this whole thing,

01:59probably the most important to keep locked in and keep this thing moving in the right direction,

02:07if nothing else, for the sake of consistency.

02:08And the guy who already started this plan sort of seeing it through to the end,

02:13which hopefully is them holding up a World Series trophy again at some point.
