The Coroner's Court in Kota Kinabalu has set Sept 3 to commence inquest proceedings for Form One student Zara Qairina Mahathir.

Coroner Azreena Aziz scheduled the proceedings to run from Sept 3 to 4, Sept 8 to 12, Sept 17 to 19 and Sept 22 to 30.

00:00The Coroner's Court in Kota Kinabalu has set September 3 to commence inquest proceedings
00:07into the death of 13-year-old Zahra Kairina Mahathir.
00:12Coroner Azrina Aziz scheduled the proceedings to run from September 3 till the 30th.
00:18Conducting Officer Mohammad Firas Johari, who is also a DPP, said 195 witnesses are
00:25involved in the case, but the final witness list will be determined before the inquest
00:30begins.
00:31Azrina requested that the witness list be finalized at least two days before the start of proceedings.
00:37Also present was lawyer Hamid Ismail, who represents Zahra Kairina's mother, Nuraida Lamat.
00:44The Form 1 student was pronounced dead at Queen Elizabeth Hospital on July 17.
00:49She was admitted to the hospital after being found unconscious in a drain near the dormitory
00:54of SMKA Tundatu Mustafa in Papar at 4 a.m. on July 16.
01:00Her death sparked an uproar, with calls for prosecutors to press charges after police said
01:06they found evidence of bullying in the reopened investigation into her death.
01:11In a statement last week, the AGC said an inquest would be conducted after reviewing the investigation
01:17report submitted by the police.
