00:00The High Court in Kota Kinabalu has set aside a coroner's court decision allowing lawyers
00:07representing five teenagers accused of bullying to participate as interested parties in the
00:12inquest into the death of Zahra Kairina Mahathir.
00:16Justice Datuk Duncan Sikodol on Tuesday ruled that the teenagers' lawyers must file a fresh
00:21application before Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassa, who will preside over the inquest following
00:28the recusal of Coroner Azrina Aziz.
00:31The ruling came after Zahra Kairina's mother, Nuraida Lamat, and the Sabah Law Society challenged
00:38the earlier decision.
00:40Justice Sikodol said Coroner Azrina should not have admitted the teenagers' lawyers after
00:45stepping aside and ordered all previous inquest-related rulings to be set aside.
00:50He also dismissed objections by the deputy public prosecutor against SLS's participation.
00:57doctor Datuk Ram Singh, representing the teenagers, said they would submit a fresh application,
01:03noting that participation would allow them to cross-examine witnesses, including Zahra
01:07Kairina's mother.
