MPs to debate doubling skilled worker visa residency requirement after backlash at new immigration rules

New rules on the amount of time people with visas must spend in the UK before they can be granted settled status are set to be debated by MPs after the proposals sparked backlash.More than 250,000 people signed two official petitions against Home Office plans to make more difficult for immigrants to Britain to qualify for permanent residence.
