00:00The United States is preparing to revoke the business and tourist visas of up to 200,000 foreign nationals who
00:08have sought or are seeking asylum.
00:10If carried out, it would be the largest single mass visa revocation in US history.
00:18The Associated Press, citing State Department documents and two US officials, says the move would target B-1 and B
00:26-2 visas issued between 2016 and 2026.
00:30But losing their visas would not automatically mean deportation.
00:33Instead, people with pending asylum cases would lose their status as business or tourist travellers and be moved into a
00:41different immigration category.
00:43The State Department said earlier this month that it had already revoked more than 175,000 visas.
00:49The latest move is part of President Donald Trump's broader immigration crackdown.
