In an exclusive conversation with OneIndia News, Vlada Galan – Geopolitical Strategist; President & Chair, International Ukrainian Crisis Fund, says that Putin is running short of time and this time around Trump has called out his bluff. 00:21Yes, Vlada.
00:23Well, what you've seen in the setup for this summit is a very different rhetoric than you've seen in the past,
00:30from Trump. In the past, Trump tried to make headway with Putin in a much more kind of arm-reached-out,
00:39open kind of tone and dialogue. Some might even say somewhat appeasing.
00:45And going into this summit, you have seen much harsher rhetoric, because Trump is not disillusioned to what Putin is.
00:52The man wrote a book on art of the deal. He knows how to make a deal.
00:57He tried to make Putin feel advantaged going into an attempt for a first round of talks the first time.
01:04This time, he's realized that Putin is stalling for time and playing games.
01:09The rhetoric coming into this is there will be consequences, and I truly believe that he will follow through on that.
01:15Time is running short for Putin, and Trump can certainly now call the bluff.
01:19But you have to appreciate what's happening right there on the tarmac, as you see.
01:25Trump is being quite friendly. He rolled out the red carpet. There was a flyover.
01:31They rode together in the limousine.
01:33These are all Trump's very light ways to still extend an olive branch.
01:40And I truly believe that Putin understands that he can't make Trump look like a fool coming out of this summit for many reasons.
01:48There's going to be severe backlash, and Trump is not scared to impose secondary sanctions and continues tariffs on countries like India, like Pakistan, like Serbia, that are large trade partners of Russia.
02:02And so you're going to see a very different rhetoric coming in, and I think you're going to see a different result coming out of this summit.
