The Alaska summit between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin has ended, but the aftershocks are only beginning. From secret side talks to awkward body language and stunning geopolitical twists, Trump’s post-summit remarks have raised more questions than answers. While Putin appeared to control the narrative, Trump’s revelations — some baffling, some explosive — left U.S. allies anxious and Ukraine deeply unsettled. Was Trump outplayed, or is there a bigger game in motion?

00:00President Donald Trump broke his silence following his high-stakes, closed-door meeting with
00:08Russian President Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, on August 15.
00:13In an exclusive interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity, Trump offered new insights into
00:20what he described as a productive summit, even as the two sides left without a formal
00:27ceasefire in Ukraine.
00:28Let's look at the 10 most revealing takeaways from Trump's recap of the summit.
00:36No deal until there's a deal.
00:40Despite positive signs, Trump made it clear.
00:44No agreement has been finalized.
00:47As far as I'm concerned, there's no deal until there's a deal.
00:51We did make a lot of progress.
00:55Putin wants to see it done.
00:59Trump said he believes Putin is motivated to end the war in Ukraine.
01:05He wants to see it done.
01:08Trump refuses to reveal the one big sticking point.
01:13Hannity pressed Trump to disclose the core issue that kept the summit from producing a ceasefire.
01:19The ball is now in Zelensky's court.
01:32The ball is now in Zelensky's court.
01:33Trump shifted some responsibility to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European allies.
01:52We were together almost three hours and it was very extensive.
01:57And we agreed on a lot of points.
01:59I mean, a lot of points were agreed on.
02:01There's not that much.
02:02There's, you know, one or two pretty significant items.
02:05But I think they can be reached.
02:07Now it's really up to President Zelensky to get it done.
02:11And I would also say the European nations, they have to get involved a little bit.
02:15But it's up to President Zelensky.
02:17I think we are.
02:19And if they'd like, I'll be at that next meeting.
02:21They're going to set up a meeting now between President Zelensky and President Putin.
02:24Open to a trilateral summit.
02:28Trump said he's willing to sit down again.
02:31This time with both Putin and Zelensky.
02:35The next step, you had said that you wanted a meeting as quickly as possible.
02:41Maybe with you, President Zelensky and President Putin.
02:43Yeah.
02:44I don't know if I trust the two of them in a room alone together.
02:48I think it would be better if you are there.
02:51Well, they both want me there.
02:52Did that come up?
02:53Yeah, it did.
02:54I mean, they both want me there and I'll be there.
02:57You got to see it out.
02:58And it is a big day.
02:59I think either way it's a big day.
03:01But if we get this solved, it's a really big day because we're going to save a lot of lives.
03:06Are you confident it can happen in a shorter time period?
03:10Fairly short, yeah.
03:11Fairly short.
03:11So maybe in the next month?
03:13I thought this would be the easiest of them all.
03:15And it was the most difficult.
03:17Again, you say six or seven.
03:18It's a lot.
03:20Timeframes are hard.
03:21I've done it.
03:21I've saved a lot of lives.
03:23I think the meeting was a 10 in the sense that we got along great.
03:36Putin respects the US again.
03:41According to Trump, the Russian president now respects the United States.
03:46A stark contrast, Trump claimed, to how Putin felt under President Joe Biden.
03:52He respects our country now.
03:54He had no respect for it under Biden.
03:59No war if Trump had been President.
04:02I'm sure that today's agreements will help us restart pragmatic relations between Russia and the United States and help us start on the path towards resolution in Ukraine.
04:17And also, one more thing, in 2022, during my final contact with the previous administration, I tried to convince my previous American counterpart, President Biden, that we needn't move towards a situation which could lead to a military confrontation.
04:42I told him before, I told him before that that would be a critical mistake, and now President Trump, when he says that if he were President, there would be no war, and I personally believe that is the case.
04:53There would be no war, had President Trump being President at that time, because myself and President Trump have had very good trust-based relations, and I'm confident that if we had stayed on that path, we could move as quickly as possible to a resolution of the conflict in Ukraine.
05:16Thank you for your attention.
05:17Echoing past claims, Trump reiterated that the Ukraine war would never have happened if he were still in office.
05:26He also noted that Putin publicly agreed with that assessment during their joint press conference.
05:33Advice to Zelensky
05:34Make a deal
05:35Asked what advice he would give to Zelensky following the summit, Trump did not hesitate.
05:43Make a deal
05:43He suggested that prolonged conflict is not in Ukraine's best interest, and that a negotiated settlement should be the goal.
05:54Putin questioned 2020 US election integrity.
05:58In a controversial revelation, Trump claimed Putin told him he believes the 2020 US election was rigged due to mail-in voting.
06:08He said you can't have a great democracy with mail-in voting.
06:13So, while Trump painted a picture of diplomatic progress, the summit produced no ceasefire, no timeline for peace, and no clear concessions from Moscow.
06:25Still, Trump appeared confident that momentum is building.
06:29Whether that leads to a lasting resolution or just another round of talks remains to be seen.
