00:00Late night comedian Jimmy Kimmel confirming he has obtained Italian citizenship,
00:05saying that he will consider using it to flee Trump's America,
00:10much to the same kind of exodus of liberals like Rosie O'Donnell and Ellen DeGeneres,
00:14both picking up and moving overseas.
00:17Kimmel dropped the news on a podcast last week when discussing his opinion on the state of the U.S.
00:22A lot of people I know are thinking about where they can get citizenship.
00:30I do have Italian. I did get Italian citizenship.
00:33You do? Oh, that's amazing.
00:35I do have that. And what's going on is as bad as you thought it was going to be.
00:41Way worse.
00:42It's so much worse. It's just unbelievable.
00:46Like, I feel like it's probably even worse than he would like it to be.
00:52You know, we—my relatives immigrated here. Much of us have relatives that did.
00:57And when my grandparents did immigrate here, they had to renounce their Italian citizenship to become U.S. citizens.
01:03They framed the U.S. citizenship on the wall. They were so proud.
01:07But Russell Shorto put it best when he said the Italian government succeeded in accomplishing in 20 years
01:12what centuries of invaders of Sicily had not, which is bringing the island to ruin and starvation.
01:18And so when I think of what Jimmy Kimmel says, and in somehow comparing this current state to tyranny
01:25and starvation and oppression, and I think about what my relatives actually did flee,
01:30they are rolling over in their graves to think of this land of opportunity that has afforded my growth.
01:36I'm here a product of their hard work, their determination, and their desperation.
01:40And Jimmy Kimmel knows nothing about either.
01:43Listen, I am a one-man woman. I'm also a one-country woman.
01:49I don't like the idea of dual citizenship.
01:51Part of it is because I don't like this kind of situation, right?
01:54Like, if you think America's not great, then stay and work for it.
01:57And by the way, you're a multimillionaire. You're doing pretty good.
02:00America's been really good to Jimmy Kimmel.
02:03On the other hand, good riddance.
02:05By the way, I bet he can afford an incredible place in Tuscany,
02:10so it's not exactly like he's moving to Italy to be with the poor people there.
02:14But, you know, it shows the deterioration of this whole thing with late night.
02:18I love that Gutfeld went on Fallon's show.
02:21I remember when Jon Stewart used to come here and go on with O'Reilly.
02:26And I know Jay Leno really well.
02:29He's a real open-minded guy. He loves his cars.
02:31You can talk to him.
02:32You don't even know what Jay Leno's politics are half the time.
02:35They've destroyed late night.
02:37Except for Greg.
02:38Well, look, I mean, I kind of don't understand
02:41why it's even a question of him not wanting to stay here.
02:45I mean, if he's going to capitulate and just give up everything he's worked for
02:48because his ego won't let him stay on TV and actually compete, that's up to him.
02:52He does have Italian ancestry through his grandmother, I understand,
02:57because from what I've read, she immigrated here in, like, the late 1800s
03:01after an earthquake near Naples.
03:03At least that's what I'm reading.
03:05So I can understand the familial connection.
03:07But this is the greatest country on the planet for making your dreams come true.
03:11And if he feels some pressure from Greg on late night,
03:15doesn't he have any other fresh ideas?
03:17Yeah.
03:18Kellyanne, talk to us about this narrative that is so prevalent
03:20in all of these sort of microcosmic shows that we're talking about
03:22where, you know, hate America, get out of here,
03:24but weirdly enjoying all the fruits of it with their big microphone.
03:28Yes, absolutely.
03:29Well, first of all, I didn't know he was Italian.
03:31I'm kind of disappointed because my mom was 100% Italian.
03:35His vowels are in all the wrong places, so I had no idea.
03:38I need him with an L.
03:39But I certainly know he's not funny.
03:41President Trump has broken these people, broken this industry.
03:44They're not funny anymore.
03:45Even that exchange is so caustic and so formulaic, like, oh, two white, rich liberals podcasting
03:52together in their safe spaces, complaining about this great country.
03:57Then go somewhere else.
03:58Be my guest and stay.
04:00But I'm with you on the dual citizenship.
04:02I do know lots of people have it, and they have it for different reasons, Rachel.
04:06I know.
04:06But I think this is the time where President Trump is making very clear, let's get rid of
04:10all the stupid acronyms, CRT, BLM, DEI, ESG, and replace it with USA.
04:18And there's this great patriotic fervor just sweeping this country.
04:21Look at these cheerleaders.
04:22Look at this sweeping this country.
04:24And it just makes people like that not only seem unfunny, but out of sync and out of touch.
04:28And ungrateful.
04:30Ungrateful.
04:31Ungrateful.
04:31Ungrateful.
