00:00Oh good morning. Guys let me tell you it has been a lot harder to get out of bed
00:07when it's this cold. What? We prevail. Let's get this bread.
00:30Well, well, well. Welcome to a freezing day. Actually below freezing day in my life here
00:43in New York City. Okay I can't make this intro as long as usual because look I'm not even kidding.
00:48When I say freezing it has not gone above freezing for a while now so these blocks are just frozen
00:57solid on every single piece of my furniture. Like yeah I should probably actually I don't know if
01:01that's good. So without further ado I'm gonna go back inside. We are going around today we're doing
01:07a combination of um what are we doing? A combination of exploring New York City to the extent that is
01:15reasonable and actually getting some stuff done so let's go do it.
01:27I can take what I need to get by. It doesn't make it easy. The other piece of my heart moves so
01:38somewhere in the grave. It's cold too. But I just prefer when the sky is blue and put in gray even though
01:45these aren't the cold in the stairs. Guys, I got a helmet. This one is collapsible. It doesn't get super super tiny but better than full size.
02:05I can't do that with one hand.
02:16All right just docked my city bike right outside Gramercy Park. I wish I could go in there so bad.
02:24I mean I could see what it looks like but it's only open to residents. Very exclusive. I've just been
02:29spending a bit more time in this area and I really really love it. Kind of gives you the best of both
02:33worlds between really the center of Manhattan but also kind of quaint and residential feeling.
02:38Well it kind of sort of except they're millions of dollars but you know they're pretty to look at.
02:49Hey what's going on guys? It's a beautiful cold day here in New York but you know what
02:53you brightened my days. I just love that. You do. No I feel warmer already. You're the best. Oh my god.
02:58I'm completely walking out of my WeWork running. I'm like Tony within a block. Yeah.
03:03He's recognized by what like dozens of people. This guy. I mean a few people. A few people. But
03:09I you know I just honor people like it. This is why we do what we do is to entertain people. 100 percent.
03:14That's the goal. Make them happy. He's the real deal guys.
03:17By the way my original inspiration when I was a consultant.
03:20thing that he was to help me kind of make the transition. Thank you. Thank you. All right. Bye guys.
03:32Very famous ice cream spot in the city. Cafe Pana. Speaking of places and properties in New York City
03:39and how much you love it here. Are you thinking of buying anytime soon or still renting for a few
03:42more years? Well even though my stocks are up a ton year every year, I still see myself renting for a
03:47while since I'm not totally sure where and when I'm going to settle. But I keep hearing to put your
03:51money into real estate. Wait. Don't tell me about some complicated thing. How would I as an everyday
03:56investor have access to that? No. It's actually super straightforward. I've heard that the Fundrise
04:00flagship fund gives everyday investors like you and me access to invest in a diversified portfolio of
04:04real estate. And their investment minimum is just $10. But I can't take on any more projects right now.
04:09How would I even start? I'm all about automating things and creating passive income this year and
04:14that's what makes it different. Their expert team identifies opportunities and handles the back end
04:18for us. And you just get to sit back and do the updates as your portfolio acquires new projects.
04:22Just like with other investments, the more you put in, the more you could potentially gain in the
04:26form of dividends. And Turrisante. I'll set that up sometime soon then. The whole thing takes like
04:30five minutes to create an account and start investing. So you could do it right now on our walk. Just
04:34click the link in my description. Thanks to the Fundrise flagship fund for making this video possible.
04:37already signing up.
04:55Look who I ran into. Hello. How's it going? It's going. I have nothing to say. No, it's
05:02great. Can you introduce yourself? I'm Dan's lackey. Damn right. Damn right that is. Cool. This is
05:09very planned, obviously. Sweet.
05:32Okay, filming in public. In a coffee shop. So kind of whispering into my microphone. But for the first
05:37time ever, I am hiring. By the time this video goes live, I will have posted this job application.
05:43This is for my first ever video editor. And I just wanted to talk to you guys a little bit about my
05:47thinking on this. So for the longest time, I have always followed the approach of doing everything
05:53myself because that's the only way it'll get done the way that I want it to. And honestly, I still
05:58think that's kind of true. But I've got to the point where I am stalling my own growth by not
06:03evolving my mindset on this. Okay, I just got way too self-conscious filming it there earlier.
06:07Which is funny because now there's way more people around. But I don't know,
06:10diffusion of responsibility, I guess. Basically, my point was that I have, believe it or not,
06:16maxed out the amount of videos that I can produce and make all by myself while still feeling like
06:22they're high quality, well edited, not rushed, and leaving myself time for maintaining my health
06:29and a personal life. If I dropped those two things at the end there, I can make more. But I refuse to do
06:34that. And so to reach the goals that I have set for myself, I simply need more hours back in my day.
06:40So what I'm hoping to get out of this hire is exactly that. Something resembling the 10-80-10 rule,
06:48which is something I learned about in Buy Back Your Time, which is the book I just read.
06:52Okay, so the 10-80-10 rule, as Dan Martell writes, is a simple technique you can use when you still want
06:57to be involved with the end result, but you don't need to do all the work on your own. Think of designing
07:01the cake versus decorating it. Then, after the majority of the work is done, you come in to add
07:05a few special touches. So how this would apply to me in the case of hiring a video editor,
07:10I would do the ideation quite a bit more. I would do the script writing, the filming, and the initial
07:15rough cut of the video. Then I would have an editor come in and add some of the fine-tuned edits,
07:20and then finally I would come in and add my special touches. There's no way I will ever let go of 100%
07:26of the edit. I just, I love doing it too much, I care about it too much, but I think it's time to
07:32enlist a little bit of help to get more hours back and hopefully make even more videos and be able
07:37to work on other things as well. So I think what is probably realistic for me in editing one of my
07:42videos is more like 20, 50, 30. I'd be happy with that, but we'll see, you know?
07:59But I have a YouTube channel here, and it'll be healthy. And I would have an easy memory.
08:11So you can see what you've heard about when you go.
08:16I'd like you to do the ride of 10, 50, 30. I'd be happy with that.
08:23Exit workout, changing back into my normal clothes, normally I shower here, which a huge
08:35part of coming to workout classes is usually they have nice amenities, but I don't have
08:40time to shower right now, I have a meeting that I'm going to bring you guys to, I'm actually
08:43really excited for it, but we will shower tonight and put on regular clothes on top
08:48of the sweat.
08:49Alright, back on the streets, I've started doing that more, just shamelessly working
08:53out in the middle of the work day, which has been amazing, like I just go back to work
08:57afterwards, and I feel like I'm paying attention to my energy levels, and if I feel like I need
09:02to move my body in that moment, I don't care if it's 3pm anymore, I just do it, and I always
09:06try to remember to bring a protein shake or snack to eat afterwards, forgot today, so I
09:12got one of the overpriced smoothies, but they're good, and this has 38 grams of protein, good
09:18more meetings.
09:19Yeah.
09:20Hey guys, I'm at Smooth Media Global Headquarters with a bunch of fantastic smart people on this
09:33cold winter day.
09:35I'm batting really low today.
09:37hopping back on the old trusty steed.
09:42Also, check out this snazzy feature on the back too.
09:52Yeah.
09:53Safety.
09:54I asked my trusty steed to stop for just a moment because it's a nice view.
09:59I'm like never around Madison Square Park, but it really is quite nice.
10:05Alright, trusty steed, let's go.
10:12Sometimes, I keep my helmet on for a while after I dock my bike just because I don't
10:20want to go through the whole song and dance of taking it off in the cold.
10:24It's a song and dance, okay?
10:25I swear.
10:26And for those of you who doubted me for not having showered after berries, which I admit
10:38unideal.
10:39All the juices or anything, it's like it's in here.
10:41It's not.
10:42I still smell good.
10:43And anyway, the reason I bring this up is because one of my friends at the Smooth office
10:47told me on my way out that it smelled good.
10:50I just thought you should know my perfume from the warning.
10:53It just stays in my hair.
10:55That's the trick.
10:56You gotta spray it in your hair so when you're giving someone a hug or doing your thing,
11:01they can smell it.
11:03Okay.
11:04Totally irrelevant.
11:17So it's really snowing now.
11:23Yeah.
11:24I won't get you guys in it, but only your food.
11:31Chicken pho.
11:33Simple, plain, delicious.
11:35Every time.
11:37Alright, we are in for good.
11:39Let's shower, finally.
11:41I've never miked up a towel before.
11:46I was gonna put a shirt on so you guys wouldn't see my eczema, but you know what?
11:51This is real life.
11:52I have struggled with it my entire life.
11:54So many of us do struggle with it.
11:56And if this empowers even one person to be less self-conscious about their eczema, then
12:01that's a win.
12:02So, read and weep.
12:04Dry skin in the winter is so real.
12:06And you guys do ask me about my skincare and I talk about it just a little bit.
12:09The thicker the product, the better for my skin.
12:12Plus, I usually lock everything in with Aquaphor on top.
12:15Or Vaseline.
12:16Whatever I have at my disposal.
12:17So I'm starting here with Hyaluronic Acid Serum.
12:23La Roche-Posay.
12:24My favorite.
12:25Try to remember to bring things down on the neck.
12:27I'm not so good at that.
12:28New Year's resolution.
12:29Pretend like my neck is a second face.
12:33I'll explain.
12:34Also, do you guys see this?
12:36I try not to be too scandalous here.
12:37That's not really my style.
12:39But do you see that?
12:40You know what that's from?
12:41So, in New York City, you can...
12:44Yeah, you can't see my butt.
12:45In New York City, when people are done with their Christmas trees that they have in their
12:48apartments, they put them out on the street.
12:50I guess that's the case anywhere.
12:52Anyways, I was in Brooklyn the other day just admiring some of the buildings that I was
12:55walking past.
12:56And I walk straight into...
12:58With force.
12:59I walk straight into the blunt bottom of the freaking Christmas tree stump.
13:05It hurt real bad.
13:06Anyways, y'all.
13:07As with every single night, as part of my wind-down routine, I read for about 20 to 45 minutes.
13:14Sometimes longer if things are really, really good.
13:17Right now, I am reading All of the Colors of the Dark.
13:20This was only published a few months ago.
13:22I'm reading this to intersperse it among some of my latest business books that I've been reading.
13:27These are the two latest ones.
13:29Learned a lot.
13:30Would highly recommend both of these.
13:31I'll link everything in the description.
13:33But yeah, this is good so far.
13:34It is 600 pages.
13:36She thick.
13:37Which I didn't know when I ordered it, but making my way slowly but surely.
13:41It's a thriller, coming of age, and historical fiction all in one.
13:45It is reminding me a bit of Demon Copperhead, if you have read this.
13:50Kind of in terms of the setting and the writing style.
13:52Dang, this is literally a workout.
13:54What a weird flex.
13:56Anyway, I'll let you guys know what I think when I finish this.
13:59And then next on my docket, after I finish that, is another business book called Good Strategy, Bad Strategy.
14:04Let me know in the comments if you've read this and what you think.
14:07I'm excited to dig into it though, I've heard good things.
14:09Would book reviews be fun?
14:11Would that be fun?
14:12Anyway guys, if you enjoyed this Winter Day in New York City vlog,
14:16please hit the thumbs up and subscribe for more videos like this.
14:20I have some really fun ones in the pipeline.
14:22Until next time, turtle out.
14:24Alright, let's put these back.
14:30No, I could get in trouble for that.
14:32Getting these shots is always so funny.
14:34Like, what am I doing?
14:35I woke up two hours ago.
14:37Probably the most ridiculous thing I've ever done in public.
14:39Almost like, not aΔ.
14:40Yeah.
14:41Okay, perfect.
14:43Oh, yeah.
