00:01:47As our cameras were in the back, obviously, Malenko and Benoit obviously mad that they
00:01:52did not get a title shot at the Great American Bash, and Flair gave it to DDP and
00:01:57won Bam Bam Bigelow.
00:01:58Speaking of tag teams, one of the greatest tag teams ever.
00:02:01Maybe back together again, assigned last week, Sting and Lex Luger.
00:02:06It was just over a decade ago that Sting and Lex Luger established themselves
00:02:11as true wrestling superstars.
00:02:13In March of 1988, Sting battled Ric Flair on even terms at the first Clash of the Champions,
00:02:19putting himself on the wrestling map.
00:02:21Just four months later, Luger made his mark in a world's title match with Flair at the
00:02:26Great American Bash.
00:02:28The two joined forces that same year to capture the Crockett Cup Tag Team Tournament.
00:02:32But that's just the beginning of an amazing string of parallels that seemed to draw these
00:02:37two incredible athletes together.
00:02:39Both began their careers in 1985, and both won their first world heavyweight titles at
00:02:44the Great American Bash.
00:02:46In 1990, Sting wore the gold that represents the most prestigious title in our sport when
00:02:51he defeated Ric Flair.
00:02:53Just one year later, at the C-Bash event, Lex Luger beat Barry Windham to stake his claim
00:02:58as the world's heavyweight title holder for the very first time.
00:03:02And don't forget the fact these two men have mastered two of the most lethal finishing moves
00:03:07in wrestling, Luger's Torture Rack and Sting's variations of the Scorpion.
00:03:12Lex and Sting have even been business partners, forming a team away from the ring.
00:03:16The mid-90s saw Sting and Luger on the winning side at War Games 95, and they were even involved
00:03:22in a triangle match that same year at Starrcade.
00:03:26Amazingly, it wasn't until 1996 that they won the world's tag team titles for the first time
00:03:32when they knocked off Harlem Heat.
00:03:34That victory led to a five-month reign where they dominated the tag team ranks.
00:03:38Mistrust between the two surfaced shortly thereafter on a Monday night row when we all
00:03:43thought that Sting had attacked Luger.
00:03:45At Fall Brawl, the realization set in that an imposter, Sting was merely a product of the
00:03:51New World Order.
00:03:52The lack of loyalty led Sting to declare himself a free agent with no ties to either WCW or the NWO.
00:03:59An uncertainty prevailed for months as a mysterious Sting looked down on the wrestling world.
00:04:05His triumphant return at Starrcade 97 not only once again gained him the world's title,
00:04:11but another association with Lex Luger as Randy Savage discovered it sold out
00:04:16and the NWO fell firsthand in Panama City, Florida.
00:04:20In May of last year, the NWO Wolfpack was formed.
00:04:23Lex Luger joined and promised to recruit Sting.
00:04:26That promise led to Sting becoming an NWO Red and Black member.
00:04:31Adversity and changes in the pack once again caused the two to separate.
00:04:35But last week on Nitro, Luger came to Sting's aid to counter the Steiner brothers' reformation
00:04:41individually.
00:04:42The franchise and the total package have both been to the top of the mountain.
00:04:47But joined together, Sting and Luger seem to push each other to even higher levels of achievement.
00:04:54Sting and Lex Luger together.
00:04:57What an exciting combination last week coming out here to thwart off the Steiners.

00:15:50but Buddy Lee Parker, as we all know, has all the tools to be successful in this sport.

00:15:58It's a tough customer to see if he can get out of this one.
00:16:01Bobby runs the power plant down there, and that's no easy task.
00:16:06He trains wrestlers.

00:16:13And anybody who's gone to that power plant will tell you the Sarge is a tough customer.
00:16:17But Benoit is one of the toughest ever.
00:16:20And not only that, is ultimately motivated right now.
