00:06:41the wrestlers in world championship wrestling, our thoughts and prayers are with his brother,
00:06:45Bret Hart, and their family at this time.
00:06:48Ladies and gentlemen, tonight on this program, Rowdy Roddy Piper is going to come out,
00:06:55and he will confront the macho man Randy Savage on what happened.
00:06:59Savage attacked everyone last week, including Piper, Bischoff, and everyone last week, Brian.
00:07:05Well, like you said earlier, he's considered the most dangerous wrestler in professional wrestling.
00:07:09I've always said that.
00:07:10I've always known the man.
00:07:11I know what he's all about.
00:07:12When he sets his mind on something, he gets it.
00:07:15He wants that world championship, and he'll get it if he has to go through everyone.

00:10:02And he got a one count and stopped it in Mickie J because of the choke hold there.

00:10:31And a good move putting Chavo down in a vertical suplex.
00:10:35Sting came down to enter the challenge by Rick Steiner a week ago on this program.

00:10:44And what an eruption that caused not only in the arena last week, but throughout the
00:10:50many of the millions of households watching our program.
00:10:53Sting and Luger, we're gonna take a look at the history they've had together as tag team
00:10:57partners and close friends.

00:11:00And there's a lot of water over or under the bridge, wherever you wanna look at it.
00:11:05And when I saw Luger come out, I didn't know what he was gonna do.

00:41:47And there's no doubt that the six years of his reign as head of WCW, Eric Bischoff's reign
00:41:53has been one of unparalleled success as well as corruption.
00:41:58Been an up and down story for Eric Bischoff as conical right here.
00:42:02Should we believe this man?
00:42:03I think everybody that knows me and that knows my history knows that I got a tremendous break
00:42:14back in 1993 when a guy by the name of Bill Shaw gave me the opportunity to really lead WCW
00:42:22to where I thought it could be and should be.
00:42:24I got a tremendous break.
00:42:26And I owe a lot to Bill Shaw, and I owe a lot to this company, and I owe a lot to the employees.
00:42:31Over the past six years, Eric Bischoff has become one of the most powerful, influential men in professional wrestling.
00:42:40He took over the reigns of WCW in 1993.
00:42:44Over the next two years, the company moved into the forefront in the sport.
00:42:48Hulk Hogan was signed in June of 94.
00:42:51In October, WCW's Halloween Havoc raised money for the Muhammad Ali Foundation.
00:42:58Muhammad Ali!
00:43:00And in December, the macho man Randy Savage came aboard.
00:43:04However, the biggest year in WCW was yet to come.
00:43:10September 4th, 1995, WCW Monday Nitro debuted.
00:43:16One week later, in its first head-to-head meeting with RAW, WCW won the ratings battle,
00:43:22a scene that would be played over and over the next couple of years.
00:43:26Bischoff was at the helm, not only in charge of WCW, but also as the play-by-play commentator.
00:43:35Then on May 27th, 1996, things began to change.
00:43:39Scott Hall shockingly walked onto Nitro.
00:43:42A few weeks later, out comes Kevin Nash.
00:43:45And the takeover attempt was on.
00:43:47Bischoff was on the front line, defending WCW and suffered a horrific attack
00:43:52at the hands of Hall and Nash a month later at the Great American Mash.
00:43:56This all led to July 7th, 1996.
00:43:59What is he doing?
00:44:00The formation of NWO with its new leader, Hollywood Hogan.
00:44:04The new world order of wrestling.
00:44:07The closeness of Bischoff and Hogan had been apparent over the years.
00:44:11But no one ever expected Bischoff, WCW's leader, to side with a new world order.
00:44:20October 27th, 1996.
00:44:22Roddy Roddy Piper signs with WCW and confronts Hogan.
00:44:27Less than a month later, Bischoff was exposed by Piper.
00:44:31You're a liar!
00:44:33This began Bischoff's reign of terror.
00:44:36We are in control!
00:44:38One week later, he gave every wrestler in WCW 30 days to join the NWO.
00:44:4430 days from right now, you're either with us or you're against us.
00:44:50Under Bischoff, the power and influence of the NWO was great.
00:44:55He hosted their pay-per-view, sold out.
00:44:58And when things did not go the way he wanted, the very next day on Nitro, he turned things back around.
00:45:04I know that you've had a tough year.
00:45:07I don't want to hear about your personal problems.
00:45:10You are hereby terminated.
00:45:13Kids, would you please tell your daddy that he's still fired?
00:45:19You are a problem.
00:45:20The bottom line is, guys, my decision is final.
00:45:24Leave the belts here or you'll be in breach of contract.
00:45:28President of Turner Sports, Dr. Harvey Schiller, had seen enough.
00:45:32As of right now, you're suspended.
00:45:35No!
00:45:36But Bischoff was still influential.
00:45:40He signed Bret Hart to a lucrative contract, thinking he was going to join the NWO.
00:45:46But Hart was there when Bischoff agreed to wrestle Larry Zbysko for control of Nitro.
00:45:521998 was the year of Bischoff's rampant abuse of power.
00:45:57In April, a disagreement with him and Ric Flair resulted in a lengthy and public legal battle.
00:46:02He developed his own talk show on Nitro and faced off against Leno in a tag match at Road Wild.
00:46:13Later, with fan support in Flair's favor, Ric returned to TV, but Bischoff still refused him a chance to get in the ring.
00:46:20I am the boss.
00:46:22Finally, it was settled that the two would wrestle for control of WCW.
00:46:28At Starrcade, Bischoff won.
00:46:30But Ric Flair secured a return match the next night.
00:46:34What a moment!
00:46:35I think we've got a new boss!
00:46:37He's out of power!
00:46:39He's given up!
00:46:40He's done!
00:46:41He's done!
00:46:42Ric Flair has won!
00:46:43Flair's reign saw Bischoff do many odd jobs, none of which he did very well, and many he purposely used in helping Hogan and his friends in the NWO.
00:46:56But my, how things change.
00:46:59Flair's new power went to his head.
00:47:00I am Ric Flair, the President of the United States!
00:47:05No, no, no!
00:47:06WCW!
00:47:07WCW!
00:47:08WCW!
00:47:09Bischoff, still holding influence within WCW, stayed in the background, allowing a mentally unstable Flair to run down WCW.
00:47:18Bischoff was there to support Hogan during his recent injury and surgery.
00:47:23You mean too much to the company, you mean too much to this industry, you've got too big of a future ahead of you to risk it on a bad wheel.
00:47:30Don't do it.
00:47:31It's a mistake.
00:47:32I know when I'm right in Hollywood, this time I know I'm right.
00:47:35But it was at Slamboree that he made two decisions that shocked and confused the world.
00:47:40Everybody here knows, that piece of garbage knows, you won this match!
00:47:48This match will continue if Ted Turner or Harvest Shiller or Steve Heyer or anybody else doesn't like it, have them call me on Monday.

00:48:27His list of accomplishments is long.
00:48:29The formation of a cruiserweight division.
00:48:30A vast array of celebrities getting involved and excited about WCW.
00:48:34And new international stars from all over participating in matches.
00:48:38However, still fresh in the fans' minds is the rampant corruption and ego that have marked his career over the past two years.
00:48:48Should we give Bischoff another chance?
00:48:52Before we decide, maybe we should listen to the words of Bischoff himself.
00:48:57I've screwed up, I've made mistakes, and I apologize to you, and I apologize to everybody out here for it.
00:49:07Judge me by what I do, not by what I say. That's all I ask.
00:49:12So Eric Bischoff, up until the present, and those last words of his that we saw, we heard last week on Monday Nitro,
00:49:22still ringing and haunting us.
