00:00All the parts of the coverage I tuned into Thursday, Friday and Saturday were just watching a lot of inexplicable misses with, you know, even short irons, wedges in hand.
00:11It looked pretty diabolical out there trying to judge that properly and guys stepping off shots.
00:15It was probably this morning where you were with Denny and didn't play with Jordan.
00:20Right. And there was one he stuffed the shot, but it's just frustrating where you keep having to try to make it do a little bit of guesswork.
00:26So was that a large factor today relative to the rest of the week?
00:30The wind was hot. That's where I'll start there. It was a hot wind.
00:35Very, very feels like everything in Memphis this time of year is easy to start there.
00:39It's very hot. It was just annoying all week.
00:43Really, it was TPC swirling. The wind was just kind of all over the place throughout the property.
00:49I never for the most part, I always look at my weather app to see what the wind is supposed to do for that day.
00:55But I just bailed by the end of the week. I just started throwing grass up everywhere I went because you couldn't trust the compass because it would one you'd walk down one hole and be down when you get to the next hole.
01:06And then that one's downwind and it's going the opposite direction.
01:08So it just made no sense at times. And with very smallish greens that were fairly firm at times, you could understand, especially when you got in the rough, how how difficult was to make birdies from there.
01:22Let me branch out there just a little bit on the topic of Southwind to just get your thoughts on how it played with the with the new grass in this week, the new zoysia, the new greens.
01:31Like, what was it? You know, was it good? Were the greens still a little bit firm?
01:35I think I heard on the broadcast that some of those zoysia lies around the green were still a little bit thin.
01:41Yeah, a little bit thin, but they mowed it down nice and tight.
01:43I mean, these it's it's new grass from 13 weeks ago.
01:47So the golf course is still really growing into its infancy, infancy stage.
01:53But I think the golf course long term will play a little bit easier.
01:57They soften out some slopes. They enlarged in the greens by about 400 square feet per each green just to restore some areas that have kind of gotten smaller over time.
02:08So some get some whole locations back, but also it makes a little greens, a little bit bigger for PGA Tour players, which we know if you make them a little bigger, it gets a little easier.
02:18They soften up some of the slopes.
02:20From my memory, I found a couple of different times today.
02:23I felt like putts were going to break more and they just didn't break quite as much.
02:28The speed of the greens weren't quite as fast as what I typically see.
02:32You saw a lot. I saw a lot of guys.
02:33God, you said that during the playoff was like they were on like it was 11 or 12.
02:37What was his guesstimate?
02:3812, 12 and a half.
02:39Yeah.
02:39And you can see these greens get wicked fast.
02:44Yes.
02:45And so they weren't quite that this week.
02:49And just softening some of the slopes, too, in this restoration.
02:53So it was slightly noticeable.
02:56But I think what a long term, I think the golf course will play easier because of the Zoysia approach areas around the green.
03:05I think that's going to be something that is going to be more beneficial for the member play and that the pros will definitely benefit from from better wise, more definitely variety around the greens.
03:20But for the most part, when when you really don't create a sense of oh crap for a PGA Tour player, when we talk about a grainy Bermuda lie or just that fluffy Bermuda rough that seemed to be around the bunkers edges, which now a lot of the bunker edges have also ish.
03:39So you just get these perfect lies and it just wasn't that difficult.
03:43It looked prettier and I would have liked it more, but I think it probably will play make the golf course play just a fraction easier over time.
