00:00All right, we got to get to this.
00:01We apparently caused a little bit of an uproar yesterday.
00:05The emotional CJ conversation that we had was,
00:10it got a little run, I would say.
00:14People are upset, Clint.
00:15Yeah, you know, it's interesting.
00:17It's interesting how that level of conversation.
00:22People are tired of it.
00:22Well, it's interesting how that level of conversation really makes the.
00:27You heartless son, bitch.
00:28Well, it really makes a side of people come out that's really.
00:32But, hey, look, I want everybody to know I am here for the good, the bad, the ugly.
00:37I don't just want to banter on social media when it's somebody that's stroking one of my opinions,
00:42even though that is nice.
00:43I am A-OK with answering and responding to, you know, the negative stuff.
00:49And I want to start, Ron, by clearing up a few things
00:52that I think were brought to my attention via social media.
00:57Let's be clear with the CJ Stroud and the emotional stuff that we've seen from CJ Stroud.
01:05Let's be clear.
01:07I know some of you out there are extremely sensitive.
01:09I know you got your profile pic is CJ Stroud's jersey.
01:12I get it.
01:13Your biopic is CJ and Will Anderson and all this.
01:17I get it.
01:17We're going violent here.
01:19Well, I know there's some sensitive folks out there.
01:21I want you to understand this, right?
01:25It isn't worth a conversation.
01:27And in hindsight right now, there is no doubt about it.
01:30You look at the text line, it's polarizing.
01:33Positive, negative, right?
01:35There's articles out there getting written.
01:37You look on social media.
01:38There's people that agree.
01:39There's people that disagree.
01:40It is definitely worth a conversation, right?
01:44And then, by the way, there are some, what I would say,
01:49some very trustworthy reporters that were at practice when the Brevin Jordan injury happened
01:55and CJ needed to be consoled, right?
01:58When it happened.
01:59John called right at this time.
02:00There was, well, before that now, there was a tweet that immediately went out
02:04following a description of what happened with Brevin Jordan.
02:08There was a tweet that actually talked about CJ Stroud needing to be consoled.
02:16That in itself tells you that it's noteworthy.
02:19It was reported on, right?
02:22Not long after that, Sean Pendergast comes on these airways
02:25and was asked a simple question about what, you know, kind of what was going on.
02:29It was reported once again that CJ Stroud needed to be consoled, right?
02:33Okay?
02:34So, it's obviously noteworthy and, which, by the way, noteworthy is interesting,
02:42you know, that kind of thing.
02:43So, it's clearly noteworthy, right?
02:46Last season when the Tankdale-CJ Stroud emotional game happened,
02:50when it all went down, for a week after that, I was asked constantly,
02:55constantly was asked about CJ Stroud,
03:00the emotion that was shown on the field at that moment.
03:03Right?
03:05And again, I don't care about some of it, but I was asked constantly,
03:08this is absolutely, in our business, a worthy conversation.
03:13Now, for all of y'all out there that just think any conversation around the emotion
03:18is negative, hey, man, I don't want to live in your headspace, right?
03:24The other part of this thing is, Ron, for me,
03:26anybody out there that wants to take a conversation about a quarterback
03:31that gets rattled by an injury and a conversation that we had on these airways
03:36that was not disrespectful, it was just, it was very, it was very matter-of-fact,
03:42and I think, I think fair.
03:45People may not agree with it, but I think it was fair.
03:47I don't think there was anything macho about it.
03:48I think I would have preferred, in my response to your comment,
03:51I would have referred to say guys probably roll their eyes at it
03:55versus guys laugh at it, just to be a little bit more conscious of kind of what happened.
03:59You know, it was an injury that had just happened to Brevin Jordan.
04:01So, maybe I used a phrase that I wish I would have probably phrased a little bit different,
04:08but, I mean, you still get my point, right?
04:10But anybody out there that wants to take this C.J. Stroud conversation,
04:15the quarterback of an NFL franchise, that is a bit rattled, I think it's a fact,
04:22is a bit rattled when people get injured,
04:26anybody that wants to take that conversation and turn it into,
04:30oh, well, men can show emotion too, man, get the hell out of here.
04:36Get the hell out of here.
04:37Like, I just, this is not a whether men in America can show emotion
04:42or should show emotion or can't.
04:45Come on, we're having a conversation about the most difficult position to play in all of sports.
04:51We're talking about C.J. Stroud because we all want to see C.J. Stroud win a Super Bowl.
04:57And there is an occurrence that happened.
05:01And it is absolutely worth discussing and talking about.
05:05Well, and maybe you think it's a no big deal.
05:08Maybe you think it's a good deal.
05:10Maybe you think it's a spiritual thing.
05:13Maybe you think that it's indicative of this team being really close.
05:18Great, man, I'm here for it.
05:19That's great.
05:20I can get that.
05:20I'm not going to call you a clown for it.
05:22I'm not going to call you every name in the book for it.
05:24I'm not going to attack you on social media for it.
05:26Has a macho man ever cried?
05:28But I'm just here to tell you it's a conversation.
05:31And we don't have to all agree on it.
05:33And if you don't agree, you can keep it moving, right?
05:36And here's the thing about the drive.
05:39Boys, I think I can speak for y'all a bit.
05:42We pride ourselves on having some tough conversations.
05:46Keeping it real, baby.
05:47I pride myself on being a former quarterback,
05:52although I know it's very apparent right now there's a lot of y'all out there
05:55that may or may not respect the career that I had at quarterback.
05:58That's fine, too.
06:00Yeah, screw them.
06:01But I think it's as a professional in this business,
06:04and I'll speak for Ron on this,
06:06and I'm glad I work for a guy that puts me in the corner sometimes,
06:09not physically, but backs me into a corner with questions and topics.
06:13I'm glad I work with a guy like that, right?
06:17I would be doing you a disservice.
06:21If there's any quarterback topic that ever comes to me that needs to be discussed,
06:27I just outlined why I think it's okay to be discussed.
06:31I think one thing we bring to the table is the perspective of a former quarterback
06:35that bounced around in the league for a few years that, if anything,
06:38spent a lot of time around a lot of good quarterbacks
06:40and a lot of different organizations with a lot of different coaches
06:42with a lot of different personalities.
06:44And I think we'd be doing you a disservice if things come up in and around C.J. Stroud.
06:50Whether it's funny or not, or it's fair or not, or it's a popular topic or not,
06:55I think we'd be doing you a disservice if I, being a former player,
07:00former quarterback, didn't give my opinion on that particular topic.
07:06I think we'd be doing you a disservice.
07:08Now, if you can't handle a conversation about a quarterback,
07:11if you can't handle a conversation about your biopic on Twitter, I mean, that's on you.
07:17But to turn this into some bigger statement about guys being emotional
07:21and being allowed to be emotional and all that jive, come on, man.
07:27That's plumb-ass silly.
07:28And like I said, I'm glad I work with a guy that asks difficult questions
07:32and takes a little different approach to things.
07:34And I'm glad to be a part of a show here that doesn't, you know,
07:39there's no, that we don't have, there's not a need to stroke everybody involved.
07:43We can have some tough conversations and keep it moving.
07:45So, just to be clear, just to be clear, the conversation was about football.
07:52I wish I would have said rolled eyes instead of laugh.
07:56That's your regret.
07:58Well, I mean, that just, I mean, I do think there's, you know,
08:00laugh maybe a little bit harsh.
08:02Maybe I just think there's, I think there's a, what's fair or foul,
08:09I know there's a lot of guys that roll eyes at a lot of things.
08:12And that would damn sure fall under that category.
08:15Now, my experience, right, which I think there's two of us in the city here
08:20that can bring the unique experience of having played the quarterback position
08:25in the NFL to the airwaves.
08:29Now, again, you may not respect that.
08:30That's cool.
08:31I'm good with that.
08:33Just a bunch of virtue signaling going on around the city right now, Dirty.
08:36That's all it is.
08:38Guys, the most interesting part of this is the inability to have a conversation.
08:44Even if you don't like the topic, even if you don't know why it's a topic,
08:52it is, there is, look at the text line.
08:54Look at social media.
08:56Look at, look at what, I mean, it is a topic that in our game,
09:00we've got people writing articles about it.
09:01And I don't know who the hell they are, but they're writing articles about,
09:03about.
09:05I see you, Big Mike.
09:06Which, by the way, if you are, I would appreciate it if you'd go back
09:10and listen to that next segment where I did kind of explain, hey, man,
09:14when you're the quarterback, you're the rock, you're the steadying force typically,
09:17and so that's why it's a conversation.
09:19You know, get to all the context, not just the porn, if you will.
09:24Oh, that's the best part is the folks on Twitter that I know have not heard
09:27a second of our conversation.
09:29Well, obviously they have.
09:31A lot of them have.
09:32Listen, I don't regret a damn thing I said yesterday, and I'll say it again,
09:36because I know, I know for me, and I've said it repeatedly,
09:42this has nothing to do with being soft or him not having balls.
09:50I said that multiple times yesterday, and there are some people who want to take
09:54that and what we talked about and move it into that space because you say
10:00that I feel like as a leader, for me, now, your leading may be different.
10:06I've had multiple conversations about this.
10:08I know for me there is a thought process of if you are the guy that everybody's
10:13looking towards, whether you're on the football field, whether you run a company,
10:17whether you own a business, whether you are a leader in your household,
10:23when adversity hits, there's a deal of, hey, I'm one of the leaders here.
10:28We're good.
10:29You want to put up a front.
10:31I believe, as I said yesterday, I believe that's what D'Amico did,
10:34and I believe D'Amico was as hurt and cared about that kid and any of the players
10:39on that field as much as anybody.
10:41But there is a thought of, hey, I got to get these guys in right now
10:45and let them know, we're good.
10:47We're all right.
10:48We're good.
10:49I'm going to go to the podium, and I'm going to tell you, hey,
10:51the Texans are good.
10:52I'm good.
10:53It doesn't have anything to do with it.
10:54C.J. Stroud has been through so much in his life that if you don't know,
10:59then maybe you should look it up.
11:00That kid is not soft.
11:02That kid has the exact balls that he needs.
11:06That kid can be emotional.
11:08I'm not telling him not to be emotional.
11:10But do you ever have issues as a parent with something in your family
11:14and you want to put up the right face so they don't start losing it?
11:20That's all I'm saying.
11:21Now, if you want to say, hey, my thought is I want them to see that,
11:27so then I can work on some more too.
11:28Cool.
11:29But I don't think it's asinine or saying that a guy doesn't have balls.
11:33Yeah, no, that's the thing.
11:34Nobody even remotely came close to talking about that part.
11:38I believe he's got enough balls and has been through more than many of you all.
11:43There are people who have said that.
11:45I don't rock with that.
11:46For me, it is simply.
11:47You made that clear yesterday.
11:49And I know we've got to get out of here, Tyler.
11:51I'm sorry.
11:51But to me, it is simple.
11:54The guy that everybody looks at, there are three dudes.
11:58There's a triangle right now.
12:00There's a triangle.
12:01It is D'Amico.
12:02It is C.J.
12:03It is Will Anderson.
12:03Those are the three dudes that are the leaders of this team now and moving forward
12:09that everybody's looking at.
12:12Two of them.
12:13I got no concerns.
12:15If any adversity hits, that they're going to be ready to go to galvanize the team,
12:20to be right there, and everybody can look at them and say, all right,
12:23those dudes are good.
12:24We're going to be good.
12:25I think C.J. is going to be that guy.
12:30And with all of them, those two, D'Amico, Will, no matter if they're the ones who did it or not,
12:35do I think their production is going to drop or their performance is going to drop
12:39because adversity hits?
12:41No.
12:42C.J., I don't think it will.
12:45But I've seen him be affected by it.
12:48And that's all I'm saying.
12:50Dalton Schultz, and I will stand by it.
12:53Dalton Schultz should not be the one consoling C.J. Stroud when adversity hits.
12:59He is the dude.
13:00The rules are different for that position.
13:04So, sorry.
13:06But it ain't about the kid ain't got balls.
13:08The kid is a tough – he's in the NFL.
13:11He's tough.
